we had the privilege of participating in a community engagement activity organized by Blessed Hands in partnership with ELPA, alongside other incredible stakeholders. The focus was clear and urgent; sensitizing young people on the dangers of substance and drug abuse.

Through open conversations, shared experiences and awareness sessions, the youths were engaged in meaningful dialogue on making informed, healthy life choices. It was inspiring to see their willingness to learn, ask questions and commit to a better path.

we also took action for the future by participating in a tree planting exercise, a reminder that just like nurturing the environment, we must also nurture and protect the lives of our young people.

This initiative highlighted the power of collaboration in addressing societal challenges. When organizations, partners and communities come together, real impact is created.

Let’s continue to stand together in guiding and empowering our youth towards brighter, healthier and more sustainable futures.

We were honored to take part in the World NGO Day celebrations in Uasin Gishu County, courtesy of the Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority (PBO Authority) and the Uasin Gishu Civil Society Organizations Network (UGCSON).

The county celebrations were held at Homecraft Grounds, bringing together over 40 civil society organizations for exhibitions, networking and knowledge exchange. The day provided a powerful platform to showcase the impact of grassroots initiatives and strengthen collaboration for sustainable development.

The organizing steering committee reflected true multi-sector collaboration, comprising the Office of the County Commissioner, the Uasin Gishu County Government, the National Federation of Public Benefit Organizations and UGCSON. This partnership demonstrated the importance of synergy between government and civil society in advancing community-driven solutions.

As one of the participating organizations, we were proud to exhibit our work, connect with stakeholders Jikaze Foundation@@@ reaffirm our commitment to empowering communities and driving positive social change.

World NGO Day reminds us that when civil society, government, and partners unite, impact is amplified.

We held an engagement at the EREEP Offices with Community Health Promoters (CHPs) focused on understanding girls’ rights, femininity and reproductive health rights.

The session created space for honest dialogue, learning and reflection on how communities can better protect, inform and empower girls to make safe and confident decisions about their bodies and their futures. CHPs play a critical frontline role and strengthening their knowledge means strengthening the entire support system around adolescent girls.

Key conversations explored dignity, access to accurate information, challenging harmful norms and the responsibility we all share in advancing gender equity at the community level.

Grateful to EREEP and everyone who participated, contributed their voices and experiences. The work continues.

Grateful to EREEP and to the girls who showed up with courage, honesty and determination. Their strength continues to inspire the work we do. Over the weekend, we had the privilege of engaging with teenage mothers at the EREEP offices in a powerful and honest conversation on risk factors, protective and coping strategies.

We talked about the real risks these young mothers face daily, from stigma and poverty to limited access to education and support. But more importantly, we focused on protection and strength. Supportive family and community spaces, access to accurate information, mentorship and safe environments can make a real difference in their lives.

The most meaningful part of the session was discussing coping strategies. The girls shared how resilience is built through peer support, self belief, seeking help without shame and learning practical life skills that restore confidence and hope. It was a reminder that healing is not a straight line, but it is possible when girls are listened to and supported.

These conversations matter. When teenage mothers are empowered with knowledge, skills and safe spaces, they are better equipped to protect themselves, care for their children and shape their own futures.

We wrapped up our last activity with smiles and a Christmas song from the girls.
Joy, community and safe spaces are just as important as the lessons we teach.
Thank you to all our partners who continue to walk this journey with us. Your support means more than words can express.
Wishing everyone a peaceful festive season.

Over the weekend, we held a powerful session under our Beyond the School Program and still reflecting on how meaningful it was.

The girls didn’t just sit and listen. They cooked together using three stones, shared a meal, laughed and learned in a very practical way. The focus of the session was menstrual health, hygiene and nutrition, with a strong emphasis on plant based diets using locally available foods.

We explored how vegetables, hibiscus, moringa, mursik and other local foods support menstrual and overall health. There were live demonstrations, open conversations and encouragement for the girls to continue eating healthy, especially during this festive season.

What stood out most was how relatable the learning was. No complicated theory, just real knowledge rooted in the community and everyday life.

The session was beautifully facilitated by Lilian Songok and Caren Karena from Lean on Women CBO, whose approach made the girls feel comfortable, curious and confident to ask questions.

Grateful to partner with the Center Against Torture in making this possible. Moments like these remind us that menstrual health education works best when it is practical, culturally relevant and led with care.

We had a powerful session with teen mothers at EREEP Langas focusing on girls’ rights and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).

We talked about what girls’ rights mean in real life, the right to education, health, safety, menstrual dignity, bodily autonomy and protection from abuse. These are not favors given to girls. They are rights protected by Kenyan law and every girl deserves to know and enjoy them.

Many girls, especially in informal settlements, grow up without knowing that there are laws and policies meant to protect them. When girls are not aware of their rights, they become more vulnerable to harm, silence and discrimination. That is why rights awareness at community level is so important.

It was encouraging to see young mothers reflect on their own experiences and commit to protecting not only themselves, but also their children . When girls and women understand their rights, they are better able to make informed decisions, seek help when needed and build safer futures for their families.

We are grateful to EREEP and to all the young mothers who participated openly and courageously.

Girls’ rights matter. Always.
