🌱 Growing Food, Growing Resilience

Yesterday, we got our hands in the soil as we engaged in farming activities at SOLASA

As we prepare for the 3rd Term, this reminds us that food security starts with knowledge, practical skills, and the willingness to grow what we can. 🌾

Through agriculture, we are nurturing not only crops, but also self-reliance, responsibility, and a generation that understands where food comes from.

Today at SOLASA, we took part in a practical jelly-making training session.

Hands-on skills like these go beyond food preparation—they promote entrepreneurship, strengthen vocational capacity, and create pathways to sustainable livelihoods. By learning together, our staff are better equipped to mentor and support our students, while our students gain practical skills they can turn into income-generating opportunities.

Every new skill learned is another step towards self-reliance and community empowerment.

Last Friday, SOLASA had the privilege of hosting a **meaningful and engaging Mentorship and Health Awareness Session** at **Racecourse Secondary School**. It was an inspiring day dedicated to empowering young people with knowledge, life skills, and practical health information that will positively influence their futures.

The mentorship sessions encouraged students to make informed decisions, build self-confidence, and embrace positive values, while the awareness discussions highlighted the importance of healthy lifestyles and preventive healthcare.

As part of the day's activities, we also conducted **free High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) and Diabetes screenings**, giving both students and staff an opportunity to know their health status and understand the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups.

At SOLASA, we believe that investing in the health, education, and personal development of young people creates stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities. We extend our sincere appreciation to the administration of Racecourse Secondary School for welcoming us and to everyone who contributed to making the event a success.

Together, we continue to inspire, educate, and transform lives—one community at a time.

Full time and it’s a solid 3–1 victory at home 💪⚽

A strong performance from the team saw us secure all three points against The Iron Ladies at Wareng High School Grounds. The effort, discipline, and teamwork on display were a true reflection of the work being put in behind the scenes — and most importantly, we keep the winning streak going.

Credit to the opponents for a competitive match, but today belonged to the team. From start to finish, the focus and determination were clear.

A big thank you to our supporters who showed up and stood with us — your energy continues to drive us forward.

Yesterday, we successfully hosted the Solasa Back to School Mentorship Tournament — a powerful blend of sport, learning, and personal development anchored on our theme: Shaping Talent, Building Character.

This was more than just a football tournament. It was a deliberate platform designed to guide young people toward discipline, teamwork, leadership, and resilience — values that extend far beyond the field. At a time when the younger generation faces increasing social and economic pressures, initiatives like this create safe, structured environments where they can grow, be mentored, and build confidence in their abilities and future.

Through every match played, lesson shared, and interaction facilitated, we saw firsthand how sport can be a transformative tool. Football became the medium through which we nurtured character, encouraged positive decision-making, and reinforced the importance of consistency, respect, and self-belief.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all the teams that participated. Your energy, discipline, and sportsmanship truly brought this tournament to life. You didn’t just compete—you demonstrated the values that define this program, both on and off the pitch.

To our coaches, mentors, organizers, and supporters, thank you for investing your time and effort into shaping the next generation. Your contribution continues to make a lasting impact.

This is only the beginning. We remain committed to creating more opportunities that empower young people, develop their potential, and prepare them for a brighter future.

Yesterday we had the privilege of hosting a Free Medical Check-Up and Community Sports Day at Huruma Grounds, bringing together residents, healthcare professionals, youth, and local football teams in a meaningful event focused on health awareness, community engagement, and youth empowerment.

Medical screenings such as high blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments play a critical role in early detection and prevention of serious health conditions. Many non-communicable diseases develop silently without noticeable symptoms, and routine screening helps individuals understand their health status early enough to take preventive or corrective action. By offering these services within the community, we aim to encourage a culture of proactive health management, awareness, and early intervention, which ultimately contributes to a healthier and more informed society.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who showed up and participated. From the community members who came out in large numbers to receive medical check-ups, to the football teams that brought energy and excitement through friendly matches — your presence made the day meaningful and successful.

A special appreciation goes to the health practitioners and volunteers who dedicated their time and expertise to provide medical screening and consultations. Your commitment to improving community health made a real difference for many families.

We also extend our gratitude to the football teams and youth groups who participated in the friendly matches. Sports continue to be a powerful platform for promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and positive engagement among young people while strengthening community bonds.

To the organizers, partners, and supporters who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event possible — your dedication ensured that everything ran smoothly and that the community benefited fully from the initiative.

We remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote health awareness, education, youth empowerment, and community development. Yesterday’s event was not just about medical services or football; it was about building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.

Thank you once again to everyone who attended, participated, and supported the event. We look forward to organizing more initiatives that positively impact our community.

This past Saturday, our team travelled to Kisii for an exciting fixture against Shabana Starlets. It turned out to be a highly competitive and entertaining match that showcased the determination and quality of women’s football.

Our ladies delivered an impressive performance, taking the lead twice during the game and demonstrating great teamwork, resilience, and discipline on the pitch. After a spirited contest from both sides, the match concluded in a well-fought 2–2 draw.

Beyond the result, matches like these continue to build experience, strengthen team cohesion, and highlight the growing impact of women’s football in our communities. We are proud of the effort the players put in and the professionalism they displayed throughout the match.

We remain focused, motivated, and ready for the next challenge.
