Celebrating Skills, Creating Opportunities 🎓🧵

𝐘𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐔𝐛𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐮 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞.

This achievement represents more than the completion of a training programme—it is a step toward economic empowerment, self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods. We are proud of every learner who has demonstrated commitment, creativity, and determination throughout the journey.

But the journey does not end at graduation. Our doors remain open until October for our graduates to continue accessing our training space, strengthen their practical skills, work on tailoring assignments, and gain additional hands-on experience that can prepare them for opportunities within the community.

We are also inviting community members across 𝐃𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 who are interested in learning tailoring and developing practical skills to join us i. Cohort 2. Whether you are beginning your journey or looking to strengthen your existing skills, there is an opportunity for you to learn, practice, and grow.

At Ubuntu Youth Organization, we believe that tailoring skills alone are not enough. Through entrepreneurship training, we equip young refugee and host community entrepreneurs in Nairobi with the knowledge to build sustainable businesses, manage finances, keep accurate records, save for the future, and create opportunities that strengthen their communities. Together, we are fostering self-reliance, economic inclusion, and lasting livelihoods.

Today marked the start of our 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, a key component of our inclusive tailoring program. Alongside technical tailoring skills, participants are learning how to start, grow, and market their businesses for long-term success.

With the support of a 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫, we are ensuring that every learner has an equal opportunity to participate and thrive. Together with our partners and donors, we are creating pathways to dignity, inclusion, and economic independence.

On 29 July, our Director, Baru Matali BM, joined fellow members of -EA at the Reflection, Learning & Action (RLA) Workshop organized by the RAWI-EA Secretariat - Kituo Cha Sheria at Waridi Hotel, Nairobi.
This half-day strategic forum was a space to pause, reflect, and honestly shape the future of refugee Access to Work in East Africa.

Together we:
✓ Reflected on progress against coalition priorities
✓ Shared successes, innovations, and lessons from member organizations
✓ Examined emerging regional trends affecting forcibly displaced populations
✓ Strengthened collaboration for joint action
✓ Agreed on priority advocacy issues and coordinated interventions

Mr. Baru Matali BM was honored to represent Ubuntu Youth Organization -UYO at the event hosted by Kenya to mark 75 years of the 1951 in Nairobi.
Together with the Government, -led organisations, host communities and partners for one purpose: to strengthen protection and build durable solutions.

The dialogue centered on:
1. Strengthening Partnerships for Protection
2. Strengthening inclusive national systems
3. Fostering refugee self-reliance to advance durable solutions.

Through , garment making training, we empower mothers and women with limited access to education and to gain practical, -generating skills. By helping them start businesses and earn sustainable incomes, we are creating stronger families, more resilient communities, and a future built on dignity, confidence, and independence.

Today, we are honored to welcome the financial team, and their program officer 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬 from 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐣𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 for an important discussion on strengthening the financial systems and institutional capacity of Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs).

The engagement focused on enhancing accountability, transparency, financial management practices, and organizational readiness for future partnerships and funding opportunities.

At Ubuntu Youth Organization, we remain committed to building strong, sustainable, and accountable refugee-led initiatives that create meaningful impact in our communities.
