Yesterday was a meaningful day for Ubuntu Youth Organization as we engaged in two important opportunities that advance our mission of empowering refugee and host communities.

We were honored to host the Amala Foundation team at our office for an insightful discussion on partnership, collaboration, and shared opportunities to strengthen access to education, leadership development, and economic empowerment for refugees. As a refugee-led organization operating in Nairobi's urban settings, we shared our experiences, challenges, and community-driven solutions that continue to create lasting impact.

At the same time, Ubuntu Youth Organization participated in a high-level stakeholder engagement convened by Access to Work and Inclusion (RAWI), bringing together Kituo Cha Sheria-Legal Advice Centre and Nairobi County representative, and other actors to discuss pathways for refugee access to decent work, economic inclusion, and meaningful participation in national development.

These engagements reaffirm the importance of collaboration, dialogue, and collective action in creating sustainable opportunities for refugees and host communities alike.

We remain committed to amplifying refugee voices, advancing inclusion, and building partnerships that drive positive change.

Ubuntu Youth Organization -UYO joined the stakeholders' dialogue organised by Access to Work and Inclusion-East Africa on refugee access to formal employment and work permits.

The discussion highlighted a simple but powerful message: refugees deserve more than handouts; they deserve opportunities. Access to decent work and legal work permits empowers refugees to become self-reliant, contribute to their communities, and build sustainable futures.

As a refugee-led organization, Ubuntu Youth Organization remains committed to advocating for inclusive employment policies and equipping refugees with the skills needed to access meaningful job opportunities.

organized a stakeholders meeting which brought together community members, paralegals, and partner organizations to discuss and advance the litigation of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, with a special focus on access to safe and legal abortion in Kenya.

The engagement created an important platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collective action toward protecting and promoting reproductive justice and human rights for all.

We were joined by ’s Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Team and the RLOs Engagement Team, alongside the Ubuntu Youth Organization team.

The session also included discussion of field learnings and how we can strengthen implementation as we move forward.

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our Community Paralegals training! 🎉

Through the Si Hati Tu project , participants are now equipped to support safe abortion cases and strengthen Sexual and Reproductive Health ( ) at the community level.
As expected results the paralegals:
• Understand SRHR and abortion laws in Kenya,
• Handle sensitive cases ethically and confidently
• Document and report cases properly
• Refer clients to appropriate services
• Support community awareness and legal empowerment
This marks the beginning of greater access to information, support, and justice.
