We are incredibly proud to announce that the Busia County Children Policy has officially been passed! This marks a major milestone in the protection and welfare of our children. At Ibrah Care Initiative, we stand firm in the belief that every child deserves care, safety, and an opportunity to thrive. This policy is a monumental step in ensuring no child is left behind. We want to extend our deepest appreciation to all the advocates, stakeholders, and community members who contributed to this achievement. Now, it's our shared responsibility to ensure its implementation and uphold accountability. Together, we can create a brighter future for our children.

Does Politics Concern Me?

Politics affects every aspect of our lives, from the quality of our roads to the availability of water, security, and even opportunities for young people. If we do not get involved, decisions will be made for us—whether we like them or not.

Today, at Lunyofu Sports Ground, young people raised real issues: the lack of toilets, the threat of hippos, and the need for clean water. These are political matters that require action. If we do not speak up and participate, who will fight for these changes?

So, does politics concern you? Absolutely! It shapes our future. The question is, are you ready to take part in it?

Today's focus for the 16 Days of Activism is ending violence against children. Such violence affects children physically through injuries, mentally through trauma, emotionally by diminishing their self-esteem, and economically by limiting their future potential. Let’s raise awareness, advocate for stronger protections, and ensure safe environments for children to thrive and build a better future.

Climate change has significantly accelerated gender-based violence (GBV) in our communities, exacerbating existing inequalities and creating new risks. As we observe these , we must recognize that tackling both climate change and GBV requires collective action. Everyone—regardless of gender—has a role to play in addressing these intertwined crises. By promoting climate justice and building resilient communities, we can reduce the vulnerabilities that fuel GBV. Let’s work together to ensure that our response to climate change is inclusive, equitable, and free from violence for all.

It sounds like the youth in Busia's Burumba Ward are actively engaging in the county's development planning process, which is a positive step toward ensuring their voices are heard. Here's a summary of the situation.
Busia Burumba Ward Youths Turn Out in Large Numbers for Development Plan Meeting
Today, the youth of Busia's Burumba Ward turned out in significant numbers for the Busia Development Plan 2025-2026 meeting, surpassing the attendance of previous sessions. However, the youths expressed dissatisfaction with the plans being proposed by their Directorate.
The primary concern was that, despite the Directorate's achievements, including the employment of 200 youths in agribusiness, the overall development plan lacked sufficient focus on youth-related initiatives. The youths were particularly concerned about the minimal allocation of funds and the absence of substantial plans aimed at their growth and development.
During the meeting, the youth strongly urged the officer in charge to address these issues with urgency, emphasizing the need for better plans and resources that would benefit the young people of Burumba Ward.
This shows the active involvement of the youth in shaping the future of their community and highlights their concerns for more comprehensive and inclusive development plans.

Happy International Youth Day to the vibrant youth of Busia and all of Kenya! As we celebrate under the theme *"From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,"* let's recognize the power of digital tools in driving change. Yet, while technology opens doors, we still need strong youth policies to overcome the challenges we face. Pursuant to the provisions of Article 201 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Section 115 of the County Government Act 2012, Ibrah's Care Initiative wishes to remind the public that the Busia County Annual Development Plan 2025-2026 public participation will take place in different parts of the county from the 15th to the 19th of August.

We especially encourage the youth, women, and people living with disabilities to attend, as their participation has been low in previous events. It's time for the youth to step up and help shape the county's future through the Annual Development Plan.

Let's make public participation a priority and mark these dates on our calendars!
