What started as a simple, heartfelt idea has blossomed into one of the greatest achievements in our community.
At Friends of Watoto Kenya, we believe that giving a vulnerable young woman a skill is the closest thing to giving her a superpower.
A while back, Rev. Billy sowed a one-time seed of $250.
That single donation didn’t just sit in a bank account. It fully sponsored a vulnerable teen mother through our intensive Fashion Design and Garment Making training program at the Friends of Watoto Skills Center.
Last year, Rev. Billy traveled to Kenya and got to meet the very young woman his donation supported.

"To see her standing there, confident, skilled, and holding her own future in her hands—it was the ultimate testimony that a one-time seed can truly give a second chance to the most vulnerable girls in rural Kenya."

Through the incredible support of our generous donor who stepped up to purchase our essential training equipment, our skills center is fully equipped to transform lives. But we cannot do it alone. We need you to help us keep these sewing machines humming and these dreams alive.

Whether it is $25, $250, or a recurring monthly gift, your kindness will directly touch a life and transform an entire community.

Short-term aid often creates cycles of dependency that limit long-term community growth. When development initiatives rely on transactional handouts, they address immediate symptoms while leaving the underlying causes of economic vulnerability untouched.
The Friends of Watoto Economic Empowerment Project rejects this paradigm by focusing on sustainable, structured financial inclusion. Through our Wezesha Programs, we are actively empowering widows, guardians and youth by providing essential farm inputs, micro-loans and livelihood skills designed to build sustainable, independent income streams.
Instead of temporary fixes, we provide local women's groups and youthnwith the tools, capital, and resources required to build independent economic security. The success of this approach is already evident. By investing in sustainable frameworks, we aren't just offering a helping hand—we are allowing families to build lasting self-reliance and driving collective community growth from the ground up.

Every morning, as the mist rises over the hills of chemwa village, hundreds of children walk toward their future wearing the Friends of Watoto colors. They aren't just students; they are the architects of a new Bungoma. By investing in their education today, we are ensuring that the vulnerability of their past does not dictate the limit of their future.
At Friends of Watoto, we don't just dream of a better world—we teach it.
Praying for our students as they go back to school this week.

Poverty remains the most formidable barrier to a girl's education. When households survive on less than $2.15 per day, the inability to cover direct and indirect costs creates a constant cycle of school expulsions and total exclusion. Beyond the fees, poverty-related challenges—such as hunger and a lack of school supplies, uniforms, or menstrual hygiene products—severely hinder a girl’s ability to attend school regularly or study effectively.
Furthermore, economic hardship is a primary driver of early marriage. In a desperate bid to reduce the number of mouths to feed or to gain resources through a "bride price," families often feel pressured to marry off their daughters, creating a tragic cycle where early marriage is both a cause and an effect of educational exclusion.
Friends of Watoto is changing this narrative. We are actively safeguarding the futures of young women by addressing these systemic threats head-on. Through our comprehensive programs, we offer:
Education Scholarships: Removing the financial barriers to traditional schooling.
Skills Empowerment: Providing vocational training in fashion design, hairdressing, and computer literacy.
Life Foundations: Offering financial literacy and professional counseling to ensure long-term independence.

Together , we are securing a brighter future, one life at a time.
