River Jordan orphanage is a Christian based volunteer organization geared towards one aim purpose of saving and improving human life. It was started on July 2004 by Christian volunteers who offered to use their God-given economic, psychological, social and physical abilities serve vast and increasing number of homeless orphans in the community. The organization has taken the initiative of supporti
ng the orphans by providing them with home _based care and education services.Since the start of the organization,it has manage to support 100 orphans fully and many others who are supported technically. River Jordan Champions Home is the visionary work of Pastor Patrick Wamalwa Wanyonji . Patrick has invested his life in loving, caring for and serving orphaned and homeless children in Kenya. Although Patrick has six natural children, he is always about God's business of embracing orphaned and homeless children who become part of his family. The love of Christ pours forth from him and his efforts are producing many young children who are growing and learning to be Champions for Christ. River Jordan Champions Home is situated on about 3.5 acres of land in B**g County, some 5 miles south of the city of Bungoma, Kenya. All the facilities are grouped closely together and include an 80' X 16' dormitory that houses 100 children. Next door is another 80' X 16' building that is used for a kitchen and classrooms for the on-site school. There is a house already on the property that serves as the home for Patrick and his family. Pastor Wamalwa's home is used for other functions serves as a gathering place for prayer, devotions and discussions about campus matters. River Jordan is positioned to become self-sustaining, not having to depend on outside support to continue serving orphans and homeless children for years to come. Of course, River Jordan must have outside financial support to reach its self-sustaining status. A substantial portion of the overall start-up funding has already been provided and used to develop the facilities. Once self-sustaining status is reached, River Jordan will search for other opportune locations to reproduce itself.
