Call for Applications - ongoing-basis
Calling for new creative inhabitants! https://co-iki.org/en_US/apply/

Arts Living Space co・iki is a new interpretation of a residence program designed to build a bridge between numerous fields of art, culture and the wider sciences, connecting artists, experts and professionals, hoping to nurture collaboration as it places a spotlight upon the very act of “living”. Placing personal discovery, change and development of the individuals engaged in this initiative, co・iki aims to create a space where the elements of everyday life and the reality of living come together. Crossing disciplines and perspectives, co・iki works towards a new art form, a living community through the hands of people living in the same age. With the opening of this new space we are pleased to inform you of an open call for “studio residents” interested to deepen their practice and research, extend their vision, engage in collaboration, evolve new ideas and develop something longer term in Tokyo with a sense of affinity to the concept above.

Our resident artists since the remote program in 2021, Soe Yu from Myanmar & Muhammad Gerly from Indonesia, are participating in the first contemporary art exhibition at Simose Art Museum in Hiroshima , Japan. This is their art museum debut in Japan and we are pleased to rediscover our journey since the pandemic has come to a fruition at a museum renowned as " the most beautiful museum in the world" (awarded by UNESCO)!!
The exhibition will end on July 21st, 2025, so please come visit and take a deep breath chilling out in the beautiful landscape with the genuinely serene art works ✨
The participating artists come from various backgrounds in East Asia regions and we highlight the talented, object & narrative-based artists corresponding to the concept of KANKYO (environment) from the emerging generation born between 1980-2000, including together with our resident artists.

Lumbung Sumida is a series of discussions, classes, workshops, and hangouts with the communities of Sumida Mukojima & Kyojima. Together, we’ll explore collective practices and sustainable alternative economic models. Sumida Mukojima EXPO is a community-based arts festival held annually since 2020. Located in the eastern part of Tokyo, the Sumida Mukojima & Kyojima area preserves its distinct Sh*tamachi identity despite ongoing gentrification. The expo connects artists and local residents through art, utilizing vacant buildings as studios, cafes, and creative spaces. Knowledge exchange at “Lumbung Sumida: Sharing Garden” also involves collaboration with other community spaces/collectives in Tokyo, including Aki Iwaya, a member of Bunji-ryo; Kaho Ikeda, Co-Programme Director of Yamanaka Suplex; Keita Saito, founder of SHIBUHOUSE; Nozomu Ogawa, founder of Art Center Ongoing; and Ryuta Ushiro, a member of Chim↑Pom from Smappa!Group.
