We connect people through cultural activities and parenting support,fostering a multicultural community where everyone can thrive. １）Intercultural program for kids 　子ども多文化交流事業

For those who want to be involved in community activities and use their skills, we hold intercultural events and offer international people the chance to be a cultural event facilitator. We hold a workshop based on the culture of one’s home country, which would feature music, dance, arts and crafts, sewing or home cooking. Also, in response to the needs of international people who want to learn Japanese cooking and culture, we hold a class offered by a Japanese facilitator.

２） OYACO playgroup session in English and easy Japanese
　英語とやさしい日本語での親子交流会の開催

We hold a monthly playgroup (gathering) for international families who are raising kids from 0yrs to 6yrs old. Two facilitators will run sessions in English and easy Japanese. Meet parents to share information and make friends for yourself and your little ones!

毎月１回、0〜6歳の子どもと親が参加する遊びの会（交流会）をします。
二人のファシリテーターが英語とやさしい日本語で進行しながら、絵本、ゲーム、
工作をします。子育ての話もします。あなたも子どもも参加して、友達を見つけましょう！

３）OYACO childcare reference booklet publication 子育て情報冊子OYACOの出版
　　
We know that living with kids in Japan is surprisingly challenging, especially the language barrier. Sometimes it can be difficult for families new to the area to find information. To fill the information gap, SCC members have edited and published the childcare reference booklet OYACO in English and plain Japanese. SCC works on projects which promote a multicultural society by offering various activities, including childcare support.

🎃👻 ハロウィーンは英語の絵本とゲームで楽しもう！

10月18日（日）、中野区立中野東図書館で、SCCのメンバーによる「外国語おはなし会ハロウィン」を開催します！
今回のおはなし会を担当するのは、イギリス出身のローラ🇬🇧
ハロウィーンをテーマにした英語の絵本の読み聞かせと、みんなで楽しめるゲームを用意しています。
英語が初めてのお子さんも大歓迎！ 絵本や遊びを通して、英語に親しんでみませんか？

🎃 ハロウィーンのおはなし会

10月12日、横浜市青葉区の山内図書館で、ハロウィーンをテーマにした英語のおはなし会を開催しました！

定員15名のところ、申し込みはあっという間に満席に。当日は14名の子どもたちが参加してくれました。

最初は、パネルシアター “What’s Inside the Pumpkin?”
「かぼちゃの中から何が出てくるのかな？」
次に何が登場するのか、ワクワクしながら見つめる子どもたちの姿が印象的でした。
続いて、カナダ出身のSCCメンバーによる英語の絵本の読み聞かせ。

今回楽しんだのは、 ・10 Trick-or-Treaters ・The Wheels on the Bus at Halloween
そして、今回は図書館ならではの「絵本探しゲーム」にも挑戦！
「オレンジ色の本を探してみよう！」 「表紙におばけが描かれた絵本はどこかな？」
お題を聞いた子どもたちは、絵本を一生懸命探していました。

今回のおはなし会が、子どもたちにとって、英語やハロウィーンの文化だけでなく、図書館の本ともっと仲良くなるきっかけになっていたらうれしいです 📚✨

最後には、図書館から折り紙のかぼちゃのプレゼントも🎃子どもたちのうれしそうな笑顔をたくさん見ることができました。
参加してくださったみなさん、そして山内図書館のみなさん、ありがとうございました！

🎃 Halloween English Storytime at Yamauchi Library! 📚

On October 12, we held a Halloween-themed English Storytime at Yamauchi Library in Aoba Ward, Yokohama!

All 15 spots filled up almost immediately after registration opened, and 14 children joined us on the day.

We started with a panel theater, “What’s Inside the Pumpkin?”
“What could be hiding inside the pumpkin?”
It was wonderful to see the children watching with excitement, eagerly waiting to discover what would appear next!

Next, an SCC member from Canada read two Halloween-themed picture books in English:
・10 Trick-or-Treaters ・The Wheels on the Bus at Halloween

We also enjoyed a Picture Book Scavenger Hunt, a special activity that made the most of being in a library!
“Can you find an orange book?”  “Can you find a picture book with a ghost on the cover?”

The children eagerly searched through the bookshelves, looking for books that matched each challenge.

We hope this storytime gave the children an opportunity not only to enjoy English and Halloween traditions, but also to discover the joy of exploring books at the library. 📚✨

At the end of the session, the library surprised everyone with little origami pumpkins! 🎃It was lovely to see so many happy smiles on the children’s faces.

A big thank you to all the families who joined us and to everyone at Yamauchi Library for making this event possible!

10月7日、横浜創英高等学校で、2年生の英語探究コースを選択する12名の生徒のみなさんと、ダイバーシティトークカード®を使ったワークショップを行いました。

SCCでは今年度、パブリックリソース財団の「Y's D&I基金」の助成を受け、ダイバーシティトークカード®を活用したワークショッププログラムの紹介動画やリーフレットを制作するプロジェクトに取り組んでいます。

今回、横浜創英高等学校と横浜女学院中学校の2校にモニター校としてご協力いただき、ワークショップの様子を撮影することになりました。撮影を担当してくださったのは、広告や雑誌などで活躍されているフォトグラファーの田尾沙織さんSaori Tao

冒頭で「今日はカードを使ったワークショップをします」と伝えると、前列の生徒から「楽しそう！」という声が✨

ワークショップでは、カードに描かれた出来事をきっかけに、それぞれの考えや感じたことを共有していきました。

中には、自分自身の過去のつらかった経験を振り返り、話してくれた生徒もいました。

SCCでは、ワークショップを始める前に、安心して対話するためのルールを共有しています。
「話したくないことは、話さなくてもいい」
誰もが自分のペースで参加できることを大切にしています。

そんな場の中で、生徒が自分の経験とカードの問いを重ね合わせ、自分の言葉で伝えてくれたことが、とても心に残りました。そして終了後には、「楽しかった！」という感想も。

ダイバーシティトークカードは、正しい答えを見つけるためのものではありません。

自分とは違う考え方に出会い、ときには自分自身の経験や「当たり前」を振り返る。そんな対話のきっかけを、これからも学校現場に届けていきたいと思います。

10月9日には、別のクラスでもワークショップを実施する予定です。

🌈 みんなの「好き！」が、ひとつのアートになりました 🎨

10月4日、ノースポート・モールで開催されたDE&I FESTIVAL 2026。SCCは、みんなで一枚の大きな作品をつくる「みんなのアート｜Community Art」を開催しました。参加してくれたのは、53名の子どもたちとそのご家族。
SCCからも、日本🇯🇵、タイ🇹🇭、インドネシア🇮🇩、ケニア🇰🇪、ナイジェリア🇳🇬につながるメンバーがスタッフとして参加しました。

子どもたちに聞いたのは、とてもシンプルな質問。
「どんなものが好き？」
「どんなことをするのが好き？」

お寿司、アンパンマン、富士山、自分が生まれた国の旗……。
一人ひとりが思い思いに描いていくと、長い紙の上には、いろいろな色、形、そして「好き！」がどんどん広がっていきました。ひとつの質問にも、たくさんの答えがある。同じじゃないから、おもしろい。

完成したCommunity Artは、その日のうちにノースポート・モール4階のエスカレーター近くに展示していただきました✨
そしてSCCのブースでは、ミッションラリーも！

タイ語、インドネシア語、ヨルバ語での「あいさつ」に、たくさんの方が挑戦してくれました🙌

普段は話す機会のない人とも、いっしょに絵を描いたり、知らないことばで「あいさつ」してみたり。

そんな小さな体験から、知らなかった人や文化が少し身近になる。

Community Artが、そんな出会いの場になっていたらうれしいです。参加してくださったみなさん、ありがとうございました！🌈

🌈 Everyone’s “Favorites” Came Together in One Community Art Piece 🎨

On October 4, at DE&I FESTIVAL 2026 held at Northport Mall, SCC hosted Community Art, where everyone worked together to create one large collaborative artwork.

53 children and their families joined us. SCC members connected to Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Kenya, and Nigeria also took part as facilitators.

We asked the children two simple questions:
“What do you like?”
“What do you like to do?”
Sushi, Anpanman, Mt. Fuji, flags of the countries where they were born...
As each child added something they loved, the long sheet of paper gradually filled with different colors, shapes, and ideas.
One question can have so many different answers.It’s our differences that make it interesting.

The completed Community Art piece was displayed that same day near the escalator on the 4th floor of Northport Mall. ✨

Our SCC booth was also one of the stops on the festival’s Mission Rally!
Many visitors came by to take on the challenge of greeting our members in Thai, Indonesian, and Yoruba. 🙌

Drawing together.
Trying a greeting in a language you’ve never spoken before.
Small experiences like these can make people and cultures we may not know feel a little closer.

We hope our Community Art created a space for those small encounters and connections.

📣 Survey for International Residents Living in Yokohama

Sharing Caring Culture is supporting a survey conducted by a student from HOSEI University Kokusai High School as part of their graduation research project.

The student is researching how disaster preparedness information reaches international residents during disasters and is looking for foreign residents living in Yokohama City to participate in a short questionnaire.

The survey asks about:
・How you prepare for disasters ・Whether you know what to do when a disaster happens ・What information you would need during a disaster ・How you receive disaster-related information in Japan

The responses will be used for the student’s graduation research.

According to the survey information provided to us, responses will be used for research purposes only, and no personally identifiable information will be publicly disclosed.

Foreign residents currently living in Yokohama City

🎃 Hello Library! @ Tsuzuki Library 📚

On September 27, we held our Hello Library! Multicultural Playgroup at Tsuzuki Library.
This time, our theme was Halloween! 👻

▼Why do we hold playgroups at libraries?
We want families who have never visited a library to discover what it has to offer. We also want multicultural families to feel welcome, even if they don't speak Japanese. That's why our sessions are held in English and Easy Japanese🌏
This time, we enjoyed lots of Halloween fun!

🎃 We counted pumpkins together during our panel theater.
🕷️ We sang Eency Weency Spider, moving our fingers along with the song.
🐉 During Kids Yoga, we breathed out strongly like dragons and stretched into cat poses.
🎨 For our final craft, we made poppers using toilet paper rolls and balloons. We filled them with little pom-poms, pulled back the balloons, and had fun aiming at Halloween targets!

We hope Hello Library! helps more families discover that libraries can be welcoming places to play, meet others, and feel part of the community💛

9月27日、都筑図書館で Hello Library! 多文化プレイグループをしました。
今回のテーマは、ハロウィーン！👻

▼どうして図書館でプレイグループをするのでしょうか？
まだ図書館に来たことがない親子にも、図書館を知ってほしいからです。
日本語があまりわからない外国出身の人にも、気軽に来てほしいと思っています。
そのため、英語とやさしい日本語で活動しています🌏
今回は、ハロウィーンを楽しみました！

🎃 パネルシアターでは、みんなでかぼちゃを数えました。
🕷️ 「Eency Weency Spider」を歌いながら、指を動かしました。
🐉 キッズヨガでは、ドラゴンのように強く息をはいたり、猫のポーズをしたりしました。
🎨 最後は、トイレットペーパーの芯と風船でクラッカーを作りました。小さなポンポンを入れて、ハロウィーンの的当てゲームも楽しみました！
図書館が、親子で遊んだり、いろいろな人と出会ったりできる場所になったらうれしいです💛
日本語があまり話せなくても、だいじょうぶ！ぜひ遊びに来てくださいね。

🍁 Multicultural Playgroup｜Autumn Fun! 🍂

On September 26, 8 local and international families joined our Multicultural Playgroup!
This month’s theme was Autumn 🍁
🍎 We started by guessing which fruits are in season in autumn. Then we enjoyed Japanese autumn songs, “Tonbo no Megane” and “Donguri Korokoro.” 🎶
Next came Kids Yoga!  We imagined autumn leaves swaying in the wind and moved our arms like the leaves. 🍂
After reading a picture book about the seasons, we finished with a no-mess autumn leaf craft using beautiful momiji colors. 🎨
The children sang, moved, imagined, and created—while parents enjoyed spending time with their children and chatting with other families.
A simple autumn morning to play, connect, and enjoy the season together.

🍁 たぶんかプレイグループ｜秋をたのしもう！
9月26日の多文化プレイグループには、8組の親子が参加（さんか）しました！
今回（こんかい）のテーマは、「秋」🍁
🍎 まず、「秋のくだものは、どれかな？」とみんなで考（かんが）えました。
そして「とんぼのめがね」や「どんぐりころころ」を、みんなで歌（うた）いました🎶
キッズヨガでは、秋の葉（は）っぱになって、風（かぜ）にゆれるように、からだを動（うご）かしました🍂
季節（きせつ）の絵本（えほん）を読んだあとは、もみじのクラフト🎨
歌って、動いて、つくって。 親子でいっしょに秋を楽（たの）しみながら、ほかの家族ともおしゃべりできる時間になりました。

私たちは、知らず知らずのうちに人を分けて考えてしまうことがあります。

でも、大切なのは、国籍や性別ではなく、一人の人として、その人の思いや経験に耳を傾けること。

ダイバーシティトークカード®は、日本で暮らす外国出身者の実際の体験をもとに生まれた、対話型ワークショップです。

正解を探す場ではありません。

対話を通して、お互いの考えや経験にふれ、自分とは異なる視点に気づいていく。そんな学びの場です。
