Yesterday finally marked the end of the health checkups for the rescued birds, which we’ve been conducting over the past three days since last week!
I was relieved to see that none of the birds showed any significant deterioration in their condition 😮💨
We’re now starting to see the next steps for each individual bird.
This was the first time we’ve conducted these exams with staff from three different departments coming together: the Yamagata Prefecture Midori Nature Division, the Murayama General Subprefectural Office Environment Division, and the Wildlife Rescue Center. While Yamagata’s rescue system still has plenty of gaps, we’ve taken a step forward in building relationships that allow for the sharing of real-world field information. If more people get involved and contribute their ideas, I’m sure we’ll be able to make even more progress.
And above all, to the peregrine falcons, kestrels, kites, buzzards, spot-billed ducks, and swans—thank you for your hard work!
The little swan’s kicks, the kite’s beak-biting, and the kestrel’s angry cries—all are signs of vitality. For now, I’m just glad everyone is doing well.
