NPO World Federation of Amateur Orchestras（NPO-WFAO） The certified NPO WFAO was created in December 2007 through the initiative of WFAO (World Federation of Amateur Orchestras).

NPO-WFAO is a non-profit organization that aims at supporting amateur orchestras activities and contributing to international cultural exchanges with the aim of improving worldwide cultural exchange and mutual understanding. WFAO has founded in 1998as an extension of the World Youth Orchestra Conference（WYOC）of 1991. WFAO’s purpose is to promote orchestral practice for all members of society and t

o facilitate exchanges between the numerous amateur orchestras in the world. Its activities continue up to this date. The certified NPO WFAO was founded to provide WFAO with solid administrative support. That support extends beyond national frontiers. NPO WFAO’s support is open to all those who request its help or are willing to provide assistance. NPO WFAO intends to amplify the worldwide activities of WFAO especially in helping regions in the developing world, such as parts of Asia or Africa to set up their own organizations and, as such, NPO WFAO aims to extend orchestral activities all over the world. NPO WFAO’s purpose is to contribute and extend, through orchestral practice, all the educational activities in the world, be it youth, adult, or life-long educational programs. Sharing orchestral practice and promoting exchanges between players or orchestras all over the world crosses language, race, customs and cultural barriers in general through the common language of music because the music scores of Mozart or Beethoven remain the same and can be shared by all art lovers in the world, thus improving universal understanding. It is by contributing to common understanding beyond political, cultural, racial and language barriers that NPO WFAO intends to contribute, ever so little, to peace in the world.

［Participation Report］
NUSO (Norwegian Youth Symphony Orchestra Summer Camp)

From August 3 to 10, 2025, the Norsk Ungdoms Symfoni Orkester (NUSO) was held in Kristiansand, Norway. Two young musicians from Japan participated in the program.

From the very first day after arrival, social events were organized, helping participants quickly connect with one another despite language differences. The program included thoughtful activities designed to break down communication barriers, allowing participants to grow closer in a short time.

During rehearsals, instructions were given in Norwegian, which initially caused some confusion. However, with support from fellow participants in English and through gestures, understanding gradually deepened. As rehearsals progressed, a strong sense of musical unity began to emerge.

Through this experience, participants were able to overcome language barriers and build meaningful relationships, while also developing a shared musical expression.

【NUSO（ノルウェー・サマーオーケストラキャンプ）参加レポート】

2025年8月3日から10日まで、ノルウェー・クリスチャンサンにて「Norsk Ungdoms Symfoni Orkester（NUSO）」が開催され、日本からも2名の青少年が参加しました。
現地では到着初日から交流会が行われ、言語の違いを越えて打ち解ける工夫が凝らされたプログラムの中で、参加者同士の距離が一気に縮まりました。合奏ではノルウェー語による指導に最初は戸惑いもあったものの、周囲の仲間による英語でのサポートやジェスチャーを通じて理解を深め、次第に音楽的な一体感が形成されていきました。

【Immanuel Orchestra Japan Tour × Gikyo Junior Orchestra Exchange Concert】

In October, the Immanuel Orchestra—founded in the Klong Toey district, one of the largest slum areas in Bangkok, Thailand—visited Japan and held an exchange concert with the Gikyo Junior Orchestra in Gifu.

During the joint performance, the young musicians delivered a vibrant and unified rendition of Mozart’s Haffner Symphony. Their sound, resonating across national and cultural borders, was met with warm applause from the audience.

The Immanuel Orchestra’s ongoing mission to support the future of children living in the slums through music continues to inspire and give hope to young people in Japan as well.
We hope this exchange will become a new musical bridge connecting Thailand and Japan.

【イマヌエル・オーケストラ来日 × 岐響ジュニア交流コンサート】

10月、タイの首都バンコクのスラム街・クロントイ地区から生まれた「イマヌエル オーケストラ」が来日し、岐阜で岐響ジュニアオーケストラと交流コンサートを行いました。

合同演奏では、モーツァルト《ハフナー交響曲》を若さあふれる一体感で披露。国や文化を越えて響き合うサウンドに、客席からは大きな拍手が送られました。

スラムに生きる子どもたちの未来を音楽で支えるイマヌエルの歩みは、日本の若い世代にも大きな刺激と希望を届けています。
今回の交流が、タイと日本をつなぐ新たな音楽の架け橋となることを願っています。

[53rd JAO Festival in Fukui – International Participants’ Interviews Now Available!]

In September 2025, the 53rd All-Japan Amateur Orchestra Festival in Fukui (hosted by JAO) welcomed a total of 19 overseas participants: 10 musicians from China (Beijing and Shanghai), Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan, and 9 participants from Germany’s BDLO.

By sharing the same stage, musicians from diverse countries and languages naturally developed mutual understanding. Once again, this festival became a vivid reminder of how the international network of amateur orchestras continues to grow and strengthen.

【第53回JAOフェスティバル福井大会—海外参加者インタビュー公開！】　

2025年9月、福井県福井市にて開催された 「第53回全国アマチュアオーケストラフェスティバル福井大会」（JAO主催） には、中国（北京・上海）、韓国、シンガポール、台湾から計10名、ドイツBDLOから9名が参加しました。

国や言語の違いを超え、同じ舞台に立つことで自然に生まれる相互理解。
アマチュアオーケストラの国際的ネットワークが、今回も確かな形として実感される機会となりました。
