Hi! My name is Elisabeth (or Elisa for short), and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to intern at Hope Alive Tokorozawa for a year.

In October 2024, I unexpectedly (feel free to ask me about that story) went on a vision trip to Tokyo. What was meant to be a simple visit, God used to change my heart. During that week, He gave me a deep love for both the believers and the people in Japan who have not yet heard the gospel. I couldn’t stop thinking about how lonely it must feel to be a Christian here, and the weight of people living their whole lives without hearing about Jesus or even meeting a Christian. When I boarded the plane home after only one week, I was in tears; it felt like I was leaving home.
In the summer of 2025, I returned to volunteer at Hope Alive and also accepted a teaching position at Christian Academy in Japan for the 2025–2026 school year. Through these experiences, God continued to confirm His call for me to serve here. As a Floridian, it has also been amazing to watch the seasons change, and I’m praying for a new season of spiritual growth both in my life and here in Tokorozawa.

Words can build you up or tear you down in a moment. So how do you guard your heart in a world full of noise, opinions, and criticism? This week’s message looks at Ecclesiastes 7:21–22 and gives practical, biblical wisdom for protecting your heart. Not every voice deserves your attention. Sometimes the wisest thing you can do is let certain words pass by and choose to focus on what God is saying instead.

But that’s only half of it. When we remember our own need for grace, it changes how we respond to others. Instead of holding onto hurt, we learn to walk in forgiveness and freedom. This message will challenge you to shift your focus, trust God more deeply, and live with a guarded yet grace-filled heart. Check out this week’s message.
