先ほど高松空港へ無事到着しました！みんな元気に帰ってきました。
沢山の出逢いや経験、喜びなど、みんなの帰国報告会で聞くのが楽しみです。
2週間アップルトンの皆様大変お世話になり、ありがとうございました！

この日は、約60人が参加したFarewell Partyに出席しました。日本に来ていたKAPのメンバーと再会し、これまで話したことのなかったファミリーとも交流できました。
遊具で共に遊んだり、バレーボールやバドミントンを楽しんだりして、これまで以上に親密に交流することができた素晴らしい最終日となりました。

On this day, we joined the Farewell Party with around 60 people in attendance. It was a heartwarming chance to reunite with KAP members who had visited Japan, and to connect with host families we hadn’t had the chance to talk with yet.

We played on the playground, enjoyed volleyball and badminton together, and shared lots of smiles and laughter. It turned out to be a perfect final day, filled with fun and even closer friendships!

この日は、日本メンバー１０人みんなで、消防署、警察署、市役所、図書館を見学させていただき、アップルトンの公共機関についての理解を深めることのできた1日でした。

消防署では、彼らの普段の生活を説明していただいたり、防火服を体験させていただきました。また、消防車にも乗らせていただき、貴重な経験となりました。
警察署では、銃の練習場を見せていただき、警察官の日々の業務について説明を受けました。ドローンなどのロボットも見せていただき、最先端のテクノロジーを実感しました。
市役所では、アップルトン市長のJakeさんに出迎えていただき、お互いの市の祭りなどの質問を通じて、アップルトンのことについて理解を深めることができ、観音寺のこともより知っていただけたと思います。
図書館では、今年新しく建て直された施設を見学しました。用途ごとに分かれた様々な部屋があり、日本との違いに驚きながらも非常に興味深い訪問となりました。

Friday, August 4

On this day, all ten members from Japan had the wonderful opportunity to visit several important public facilities in Appleton, including the fire station, police department, city hall, and library. It was a day full of learning and discovery, deepening our understanding of how public services work in Appleton.

At the fire station, we learned about the daily lives of the firefighters and even got to try on real fireproof gear. Riding in a fire truck was a special treat and definitely a memory to cherish!

At the police department, we were given a tour of the shooting range and learned about the daily duties of police officers. We also saw impressive technology like drones and robots—it was amazing to see how advanced everything was.

At city hall, we were warmly welcomed by Mayor Jake, who kindly answered our questions about Appleton’s local festivals. It was a great chance to learn more about the city and to share about our own city of Kanonji as well.

Our final stop was the newly renovated public library. We were amazed by the many specialized rooms for different purposes—it was fascinating to see the differences from libraries in Japan.

今日はミルウォーキーの名所を巡りました。一箇所目に訪れたMitchell Park Domesでは環境の違う三つのドームを巡ることで、それぞれに展示されていた世界各地の植物に対する見聞を深めることができました。また、次に訪れたpublic marketでは各々で市場を巡ることで現地の空気感を肌で感じながら昼ごはんを楽しみました。
Harley -Davidson Museumでは入り口の乗車体験用のバイクや、歴史ある展示物、お土産屋など各所で盛り上がり、アメリカ文化の一端を体験しました。
Bradford Beachではフットボールのキャッチボールを楽しんだり、手押し相撲をしたりして交流を深めました。

Today was all about exploring some of Milwaukee’s most iconic spots!

We started our day at the Mitchell Park Domes, where we walked through three different domes, each with its own unique climate. It was a fun and eye-opening experience to see so many plants from around the world all in one place!

Next, we headed to the Public Market. Everyone had a chance to wander around the market freely, soaking in the local vibes and enjoying a delicious lunch together. It was a great way to experience the everyday atmosphere of the city.

At the Harley-Davidson Museum, excitement filled the air as we tried out the display motorcycle, explored the historic exhibits, and browsed the gift shop. We got a real feel for a unique piece of American culture!

To wrap up the day, we visited Bradford Beach, where we played catch with a football, had friendly hand-push sumo matches, and simply enjoyed each other’s company. It was a perfect end to a day full of discovery, laughter, and new friendships.

午後からピックルボールの交流イベントが行われました。アップルトンの熟練プレイヤーやホームステイ先の子どもたちが集まり、世代や国を超えてピックルボールを楽しむ和やかなひとときとなりました。午後1時から4時までの3時間、皆が夢中になってプレーし、誰もが笑顔で、元気いっぱいに体を動かしていました。
また、現地テレビ局の取材も入り、蓮斗さんが堂々とインタビューに答える場面もありました。ピックルボールを行うなかで、子どもたちは自然と笑顔になり、交流や成長の機会にもつながる素晴らしい時間となりました。

In the afternoon, a fun and lively pickleball exchange event took place!

Experienced players from Appleton and many of the host families’ children came together to enjoy a relaxing time filled with smiles, laughter, and friendly competition.

For three hours—from 1:00 to 4:00 PM—everyone was fully engaged in the game. It didn’t matter where you were from or how old you were; on the court, we were all just teammates having fun together.

A local TV crew even came to cover the event, and Rento did an amazing job speaking confidently during his interview!

Through pickleball, the children naturally opened up, made new connections, and shared a special time of growth and cultural exchange.

１０人のメンバーが高松空港で、家族に見送られて羽田空港へ向かいました。

This morning, the group gathered at Kanonji City Hall, where they were warmly seen off by members of the International Exchange Association.

Ten participants then departed from Takamatsu Airport, accompanied by their families, and headed toward Haneda Airport.

Right now, they’re flying high in the sky on their way to you!

Dear friends in Appleton, please take good care of them for the next two weeks—we’re counting on you! 🇺🇸✈️🇯🇵

午前4:30 観音寺市役所にてお別れ。

彼らは、2週間の観音寺市ホームステイも無事終わり、沢山の体験と沢山の日本土産を鞄に詰め込んでバスに乗り込みました。

彼らはホストファミリーとの最後のお別れ抱擁をし、みんなで記念撮影をしました。

また7月２５日より観音寺市から学生がアップルトンへ旅立ちます。2週間よろしくお願いします！

また会える日を楽しみにしています。

Farewell at 4:30 a.m. at Kanonji City Hall

After two unforgettable weeks of homestay in Kanonji, our American guests boarded the bus early in the morning, their suitcases filled with wonderful memories, meaningful experiences, and lots of Japanese souvenirs.

They shared heartfelt hugs with their host families and took one last group photo to capture the special bonds they formed.

Soon, on July 25, students from Kanonji will head to Appleton for their own two-week adventure. Thank you in advance for your warm welcome and hospitality!

観音寺グランドホテルにて歓送迎会パーティーが行われました。
総勢90名の参加者が、ホストごとにテーブルにつき和やかで楽しいひと時を過ごしました。

ホスト家族ごとにステージに上がり、滞在中の思い出や交流から学んだことなどを発表しました。
あと３日でお別れするのがもう悲しそうです。

25日から９人の学生が渡米します。それぞれの目標や意気込みを、英語でスピーチして頂きました。とても楽しみにしています。2週間よろしくお願いします！

A heartwarming farewell and welcome party was held at the Kanonji Grand Hotel.
A total of 90 people gathered and enjoyed a relaxed and joyful evening, sitting at tables with their host families.

Each host family took the stage to share memories from their time together and what they had learned through the exchange.
With only three days left until the farewell, everyone already looked a little sad.

Starting on the 25th, nine students will head to the United States!
Each of them gave a speech in English, sharing their goals and excitement for the upcoming trip.
We’re really looking forward to it—let’s make the next two weeks a great experience together!

③イオンモール岡山で昼食と買い物

⑥与島パーキング買い物

楽しかった一日旅行。
1番嬉しそうな顔を見たのは、やはりイオンモール岡山でのお買い物。
アメリカへ帰る前に、家族のお土産を探したり、自分が欲しい物を買って大満足！
高いけど、桃太郎ジーンズも買ってたね👖

岡山城と後楽園は33℃も気温があって暑かったね☀️真剣に黒川先生から歴史を学んでました。

与島パーキングで最後のお土産タイム。
大満足の旅行でした。

Departed on an enjoyable bus trip across the Great Seto Bridge🚌!

1) Visited the Former Nozaki Family Residence, the residence of the Salt Farm King in the Edo period
2) Strolled along Kojima Jeans Street
3) Had lunch and went shopping at AEON MALL Okayama
4) Visited Okayama Castle
5) Strolled in Korakuen Garden
(6) Finished with shopping at Yoshima Island Parking Area

It was a fun one-day trip.
The happiest face I saw were of course during shopping at AEON MALL Okayama.
Before going back to the US, I was very happy to find souvenirs for my family and buy things I wanted!
It was expensive, but I also bought Momotaro jeans 👖.

It was so hot in Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden with the temperature as high as 33℃ (92°F)☀️ also listened seriously to history lessons from Ms. Kurokawa.

Lastly, we had souvenir time at the Yoshima Island parking area.
It was a very satisfying trip.
