A bridge called JAZZ ! (English follows)
TMJAFは、音楽の持つ力を通して日本とフィリピン両国の文化交流の架け橋となるべく労力を尽す事、そしてその架け橋を渡り、誰もが成し得なかった旅立ちが出来ること、を目標に掲げています。2012年5月18日、TMJAFの活動は渋谷を皮切りにスタートしました。
本フェスティバルは、日本のフィリピン大使館とビコーズ・ウィー・ケアグループと共同で、日本とフィリピンの「文化」と「アーティスト」の交流を目的に開催いたします。
このフェスティバルでは、同じ志を持ち、国際的に活躍する音楽家たちが一堂に集まりますが、若く才能にあふれるアーティストたちが、プロの音楽家と共に演奏する機会を持つことも、彼らにとっては大きな成長につながることと思います。
そこで、TMJAFでは、数年にわたり、東京、およびマニラにて、若手音楽家育成の
ための無料ワークショップ、そしてさまざまなプログラムの資金援助をしてまいりました。
とくに、フィリピン各地の若手音楽家から構成される、フィリピン・ユース・シンフォニック・バンドへのサポートは、継続して行っております。
なお、このフェスティバルの収益の一部は、音楽教育や楽器、機材などに対する支援や提供を目的とした音楽奨学金として活用させていただきます。
日本・フィリピンのみならず、世界各地から開催趣旨にご賛同・ご参加いただいている国際的なアーティストをはじめ、サポートいただくみなさまと、お互いのネットワークをより確かなものにし、”ジャズ”という架け橋をとおして、これからもこのような貴重な機会をぜひとも継続していきたいと考えております。

As conceptualized from its inception, TMJAF aims to serve as a bridge between two cultures and linking them tightly through the power of music and art; and, all who cross that bridge shall be on a journey like no other. TMJAF was first held in Shibuya, Tokyo on May 18, 2012. This annual festival, in coordination with The Philippine Embassy in Japan, Because We Care group and its many partners focuses on the cultural exchange and artistic communication between Japan and the Philippines. Aimed for the cultivation of young talented artists who will be given the opportunity to take part in the mainstream performances with professional musicians and artists. A big part of our goal is to create music scholarship funds, providing equipment and educational support. Over the years, we have given free workshops and funded programs for young musicians both in Tokyo and Manila. Among our beneficiaries is the Philippine Youth Symphonic Band - a group of young talented and highly trained musicians from various regions of the Philippines, made possible through youth music camps. The program showcases an international camaraderie along with raising the promotion of musicality. In particular, jazz as the focused genre. We invite artists and musicians from the Philippines, US and all over Japan to gather and perform on the same Tokyo stage. We believe this early festival will be a progressive tradition of successful musical and artistic experiences going forward. Although a first of the series, this year is already supported by a strong network of world-class musicians and artist who have already pledged their interest to take part in the event.
