PETA Asia is working with member of The House of Representatives พิมพ์กาญจน์ กีรติวิราปกรณ์ - Pimkarn Kiratiwirapakorn to help animals affected by Bangkok’s floods, donating more than a ton of cat and dog food for distribution in Khlong Sam Wa, one of the city’s hardest-hit districts.

📍Cebu, Philippines - African swine fever is leading to mass culling operations across Cebu, with pigs often killed and buried en masse to contain outbreaks.

But these animals are victims long before disease strikes.

In his statement, PETA Asia President Jason Baker says:
“African swine fever is a death sentence for countless pigs in Cebu, but the real tragedy is that these sensitive, intelligent individuals were already condemned to lives of confinement and misery in the meat industry before the outbreak began. Whether they die from disease, mass culling, or at the slaughterhouse, pigs pay the price for a system that treats living, feeling beings as products. PETA urges everyone to help end this cycle of suffering by choosing delicious vegan foods and leaving pigs off their plates.”

Pigs don't want to be slaughtered.

The best way to help them is to go vegan.

👀 LOOK: New PETA billboard in the Philippines urges those worried about AI's environmental impact to also take a look at their plates.

Amid growing concern over data centers’ water and energy use, PETA's pointing out that meat, egg, and dairy industries guzzle far more water, spew more methane, and eat up more land than server farms do.

The projected annual water withdrawals from global AI demand in 2027 (up to 6.6 billion cubic metres) would be only about 1.2% of the water withdrawn by the global livestock industry each year (566 billion cubic metres).

Concerned about the future? Go vegan. 💧🌱

👏 Applause for leadership that stands up for animals!

After PETA Asia's report of an illegal horsefighting event led to the cancellation of a horsefighting spectacle in Bukidnon, Philippines, Governor Rogelio Neil Roque publicly affirmed that the Provincial Government of Bukidnon does not support any activity that causes animals pain, suffering, or abuse, including illegal horsefighting.

Horsefighting is cruel and has no place in a compassionate society. We’re happy to see Governor Roque take a clear stand against animal cruelty following PETA Asia’s efforts in the region, and we hope more governors, mayors, and other leaders across the Philippines will do the same.

Animals deserve protection, not exploitation. 🐴💙

After PETA India helped rescue Madhuri from a temple where she endured decades of loneliness and suffering, she was transferred to Vantara, an Indian rehabilitation center, for the care and companionship she had long been denied.

Vantara is owned by Reliance.

Now, after a campaign for her return and boycott of Reliance products, she has been sent back to the same place that deprived her of both.

Madhuri has been betrayed. 💔🐘

The taxidermied body of Mali, the “world’s saddest elephant,” who died in 2023 after being kept in solitary captivity for nearly 50 years at the Manila Zoo, has been transferred to the National Museum, where her exhibit has just been unveiled.

“There are many things to celebrate about Manila, but Mali's confinement and death are not among them. Had the government not blocked her transfer, Mali could have lived out her days in a sanctuary, bonding with other elephants and getting the care she desperately needed.

Now, her preserved body at the National Museum will serve as a stark reminder that no elephant should be forced to suffer as she did. Confining animals to tiny, barren enclosures should be relegated to the history books, and PETA stands ready to shutter the Manila Zoo and move the surviving animals to a reputable facility. Until then, PETA urges everyone to honor Mali’s memory by avoiding the Manila Zoo and any other zoo as if more lives depended on it, because they do.”
