#064 面出薫/照明デザイン塾

このポランティアの教育プログラムも、今年で5年目になるのでしょう。
LPAのスタッフの協力をもらって、9月19日〜21日の3日間、朝から夜まで、ギッチリと21名の学生と楽しい時間を過ごしました。
お互いに疲労はしたけれど、充実感がありました。しかし私達もよくやるよね。
学生を指導しながらも、私たちにも得るものがあるのです。学生から学ぶこともあるのです。
来年も飽きずに、懲りずに、またやる事になるでしょう。はっはっは。

#064 Kaoru Mende / Lighting Design Workshop

This year marks the 5th year of our volunteer education program.
With help from the LPA staff, we spent three full, busy days from morning to night with 21 students.
We were all exhausted, but filled with a sense of fulfillment. Quite a feat for us! Even while mentoring students, we gain so much and learn from them as well.
I’m sure we won’t tire of this and will be back at it again next year. Ha ha!

今週は団員の窪田さんよりメキシコシティの夜景をお送りします。

メキシコシティの歴史地区では照明が再整備され、高照度で明るく浮かび上がるエリアと、周辺の光に頼る暗い広場との対照的な空間が生まれていた。過剰な明るさには疑問を抱いたものの、現地の学生からは夜間の安全性や人々が集うための必須の環境として肯定的な声も聞かれた。心地よい陰翳の美しさだけでなく、高い犯罪率という特有の事情や安全確保が優先される現実を深く考えさせられた。

While the intense brightness felt excessive, local students noted it is essential for nighttime safety and community gatherings—highlighting how high crime rates make security the top priority over subtle shadows."

今週は団員の板倉さん、渡邊さんよりモンゴル、ウランバートルの夜景をお送りします。

丘陵の稜線に広がるゲル地区の点在する光と、渋滞する車の光の流れ、市の中心部の光、夕日に照らされる雲の流れのスペクタルが合わさり、感動的な夜景が広がっていた。街からはみ出たゲル地区と周囲の新興住宅、そして急速に発展する街の中心部、まさに現在のウランバートルの縮図がそこにあった。

The photo of this week is Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from Mr. Itakura and Mr. Watanabe.
"The scene was a breathtaking night view, a spectacle combining the scattered lights of the ger district along the ridgeline, the flowing lights of traffic congestion, the illumination of the city center, and the movement of clouds illuminated by the setting sun. The ger district sprawling beyond the city limits, the surrounding new residential areas, and the rapidly developing city center – it was truly a microcosm of present-day Ulaanbaatar."

今週は団員の本多さん、中村さんより神戸の写真をお送りします。

神戸の夜景はすみずみまで、「見られること」が計算されており、「すてきな夜景フォトを撮りたい！」という高揚感に完璧に応えてくれる。
演出照明と機能的な照明のいずれも、過剰なグレアを発するものは少なく、ライトアップされた対象物に集中することができた。

"The night view of Kobe is designed to be seen from every corner, and it perfectly meets the excitement of 'I want to capture stunning night photos!'
Both the decorative and functional lighting are carefully arranged, with minimal excessive glare, allowing viewers to focus on the illuminated landmarks and scenery."

#063 一日中過ごしたくなる図書館

私たちLPAが照明デザインをした石川県立図書館に行ってきました。
完成してから訪問したのは3度目です。
7月末だったので夏休みに入った学生たちも沢山来ていた様子ですが、私が感心したのは地元の子供たちに交じってご老人も多く、思い思いの自分の居場所を確保して寛いでいたのです。そのような人たちは多分図書館の開くのを待って早朝から長い時間をここで過ごしていることでしょう。
ゆったりとした快適な寛ぎの空間。金沢の人たちを羨ましく思いました。

#063 A Library You Want to Spend All Day In

I visited the Ishikawa Prefectural Library, which we at LPA designed the lighting.
What impressed me most was seeing local seniors joining students, each finding a cozy spot to relax. Many likely arrived early just to spend their whole day here.
It’s such a comfortable, spacious sanctuary—a wonderful place for the people of Kanazawa.
