東日本大震災から15年が経ちました。
現在、死者は1万5901人、行方不明者は2519人にのぼります。
さらに福島県では、309平方キロメートルが帰還困難区域とされています。
福島第一原子力発電所の廃炉には、今後2050年ごろまでかかる見込みです。
​
一方で、東日本大震災の際には、計126の国・地域・機関から物資や寄附金が寄せられ、復旧・復興の大きな力となりました。
歴史を振り返っても、災害の経験は人々に助け合いの大切さを教えてきました。
100年前の関東大震災の際にも、クーリッジ大統領の決断により米国から大きな支援が寄せられ、さらに世界各国からも多くの支援を受けました。
それは、平和な時代であったからこそ可能だったことでもあります。
​
また、震災の記憶を継承し、犠牲者を悼み、教訓を共有することは、命を尊ぶ文化を育みます。その文化は、他者を守ろうとする姿勢や共感につながり、平和の土台にもなり得ます。
​
私たちは東日本大震災から15年という節目を迎え、平和を尊びながら、これからも「災害で苦しむ人をなくす」世界の実現に少しでも近づけるよう努めてまいります。
​
その取り組みの一つとして、3月21日に東京でイベントを開催します。

Fifteen years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Currently, the number of confirmed deaths stands at 15,901, with 2,519 people still missing.
​
In addition, 309 square kilometers in Fukushima Prefecture remain designated as areas where residents are unable to return.
The decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant is expected to take until around 2050.
​
At the same time, during the aftermath of the disaster, supplies and donations were provided by a total of 126 countries, regions, and organizations, which became a major force supporting recovery and reconstruction.
​
Looking back through history, experiences of disasters have often reminded people of the importance of helping one another.
During the Great Kanto Earthquake 100 years ago, large-scale support was sent from the United States following a decision by President Coolidge, along with assistance from many other countries around the world.
Such global support was also possible because it occurred during a time of peace.
​
Passing down the memory of disasters, mourning the victims, and sharing the lessons learned help cultivate a culture that respects human life.
This culture encourages empathy and a commitment to protecting others, and it can also serve as a foundation for peace.
​
As we mark the 15th year since the Great East Japan Earthquake, we reaffirm our commitment to valuing peace and to continuing our efforts to move closer to a world where no one suffers from disasters.
​
As part of these efforts, an event will be held in Tokyo on March 21.

The international conference “World Bosai Forum” has been featured on the Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments platform of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
​

Knowledge and dialogue on disaster risk reduction born in Sendai are being shared internationally as contributions to the implementation of the Sendai Framework.
​
Through this platform, diverse actors around the world are able to learn from one another’s initiatives, fostering dialogue and new partnerships across regions and sectors.
​
As discussions and practices on disaster risk reduction continue to expand globally, the knowledge and exchanges cultivated in Sendai are expected to inform and support disaster risk reduction strategies and actions in different contexts.

「仙台防災枠組・自発的コミットメント」に掲載されました。

仙台で生まれた防災の知見や対話の場が、

このプラットフォームを通じて、
世界各地の多様な主体が互いの取り組みを知り、

[SDGs × Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Discussion Meeting | SDGs×仙台防災枠組 意見交換会]

We had an engaging discussion with the young professionals from the Construction Consultants' Group on SDGs and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction!
​
Our Executive Director, Mr. Ono, provided an insightful explanation of the Sendai Framework, and the Q&A session with the research group was lively and thought-provoking. It was a fruitful opportunity for learning and exchanging ideas!
​
We will explore key themes such as:
​
"Which has a greater impact on disaster risk reduction—urbanization or climate change?"
and
"As Japan’s advantage in infrastructure development declines, can Japanese disaster risk reduction still serve as a global model?"
​
These sharp questions from young professionals sparked a dynamic discussion, with Mr. Ono enthusiastically responding and delving deeper into the conversation. It was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the importance of examining disaster resilience from multiple perspectives.
​

建設コンサルタントの若手グループ 国土総合研究機構・SDGs研究会 の皆さんと、SDGsと仙台防災枠組について意見交換を行いました！
​
小野先生による仙台防災枠組の解説に加え、研究会の皆さんからの質問も活発に飛び交い、議論は大いに盛り上がりました。気づけば予定時間を大幅にオーバー…！それだけ充実した学びと意見の交わる場になったということですね。
​
防災と持続可能な社会づくりを考える上で、こうした交流の場を大切にしていきたいと思います！
​
次回の防災フォーラムのテーマにも関わる 「都市化の影響と気候変動、どちらが防災に大きな影響を与えるのか？」 という若手専門家からの問いや、 「日本のインフラづくりの優位性が失われつつあるなか、日本の防災は海外の手本になれるのか？」 という鋭い質問が飛び交いました。
​
代表理事・小野は、そんな問いに楽しそうに答えながら、議論はどんどん深まっていきました！防災を多角的に考えることの大切さを改めて実感する時間でした。
​
皆さんはどう考えますか？WBF2025でも、こうした問いを一緒に掘り下げていきたいですね！
