広島平和ライオンズクラブ In 1959, we were established as the third club in Hiroshima City.

The club's name includes 'HEIWA,' which reflects our's eternal wish for peace!

1959年、国際平和都市広島市に日本地区128番目広島市3番目のクラブとして結成。
広島の永遠の願い「平和」をクラブ名に冠し、平和・友愛・奉仕の心を礎に活動しています。
Club The Hiroshima Heiwa Lions Club was established in 1959 in Hiroshima, which is well known an international city of peace, as the 128th club in Japan and the 3rd club in Hiroshima City. Our club's name is based on Hiroshima'

3R2Z第4回ガバナー諮問委員会が、同Z出身の寺越名誉顧問と三口名誉顧問の参加のもと開催され、一年間討議してきた会員増強、退会防止、LCIFについての各クラブの取組み状況について確認しました。

なかでも3R2Zはメンバーが20人を切るクラブが4クラブあり、「いかに退会を防ぐか」が、喫緊の課題と再認識しました。
クラブを合併し大規模クラブ化による吸引力の向上と、各クラブの素晴らしいアクティビティを支部化などで残しながらも、現代のニーズに沿った、ライオンズクラブでしか為しえない新たな分野に奉仕の手を差し伸べる必要もあるのではないか。との意見に考えるものがありました。

会議終了後は懇親会が開かれ、一年間の労をねぎらいました。
権現ZCはじめ役員、委員の皆様お疲れ様でした。

第1605回例会　4月第一例会　

4月26日に行われる地区年次大会の任命書がL寺越とL調子に伝達されました。

その後、RCC「おはようラジオ」のパーソナリティである元RCCアナウンサーの #本名正憲 さんをゲストにお招きし、ゲストスピーチが行われました。昨日のカープの試合の感想から、メンバーが普段眠りにつくであろう2:30に起床し毎朝の番組の準備をされていること。
局アナからフリーに転向した裏話、懐かしのカープ選手との思い出、ゴルフ、米国イラン戦争についてなどなど様々な話題を面白おかしく、時には真面目にお話いただきました。

さすが本職。上手なお話と豊富な知識で、楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。

第1604回例会　3月第二例会　－次年度役員候補者選挙会＆花見例会－

選挙会が行われ、次年度役員が決定しました。次年度役員の皆様宜しくお願いします。

選挙会のあとは、CNの際に比治山公園に植樹した桜を愛でながら花見例会を行ないました。
会場設営時にはつぼみだった花も、例会時には徐々に開きはじめ、美味しい食事とともに楽しい時を過ごしました。

Election of Next Year’s Officers & Cherry Blossom Viewing Meeting

The election of candidates for next year’s officers was held, and the officers for the coming year have been officially decided. We look forward to your leadership and support in the year ahead.

Following the election, we held a cherry blossom viewing gathering while admiring the sakura trees that were planted in Hijiyama Park during our Charter Night (CN).
When we were setting up the venue, the blossoms were still in bud, but by the time the meeting began, they had gradually started to bloom. We enjoyed a pleasant time together with delicious food!

第1603回例会　3月第一例会　－次年度役員候補者指名会－

本日は次年度役員候補者の指名会が行われました。会員委員長のL水澄から指名する候補者名が読み上げられ、次回の例会までに立候補もしくは異議のない場合は、確定する旨が伝えられました。

その後は、幹事のL一丁畑から「なぜ私は苦しみながら走るのか」と題し、会員スピーチが行われました。
過去フルマラソンに7回も挑戦されている経験をもとに、大会前の過ごし方から、毎月300km走っているという練習の様子。競技中の栄養補給や特別な靴底などなど実物による実演を交え、興味深いスピーチを披露され、皆興味津々に耳を傾けました。

The 1603rd Regular Meeting – First Meeting of March – Nomination of Next Year’s Officers

At today’s meeting, the nomination of candidates for next year’s officers was conducted. The list of nominees was read aloud by Membership Committee Chair Lion Minazumi, and it was announced that the nominations would be finalized by the next meeting unless there are additional candidates or any objections.

Following this, Secretary, Lion Itchohata, delivered a member speech titled “WHY DO I RUN WHILE SUFFERING?”
Drawing on his experience of completing seven full marathons, he spoke about how he prepares before races, his training routine of running 300 km each month, as well as in-race nutrition and specialized shoe soles.
His talk, enriched with practical demonstrations using actual equipment, was highly engaging, and all attendees listened with great interest!

（広島紅葉LCとの合同例会）

本日は「元地区ガバナーを称える例会」として2年ぶりに広島紅葉LCと合同例会を開催しました。
出席いただいた元地区ガバナーのL寺越からはご尊父のご逝去後に入会されたこと。ご尊父の念願であったガバナーに就任されたこと。2019年に開催されたOSEALフォーラム広島大会を誘致した背景をお話しいただきました。
L今井からはガバナー就任にいたる背景から、両クラブの合併など今後のクラブのあり方についてお話しいただきました。
（L加用は所用により御欠席）

その後の懇親会ではパフォーマーの #にかもとりか さんをお招きし、素晴らしい演奏に聞きほれながら、両クラブ会員で親交を深め楽しいひとときを過ごしました。
最後は両カバナーの意思決定に大きく関わった故L調子のご子息によるローアで宴たけなわのうち閉会しました。

”Meeting Honoring Past District Governors"
(Joint Meeting with Hiroshima Koyo LC)

Today, we held a joint meeting with the Hiroshima Koyo LC for the first time in two years as a “Meeting Honoring Past District Governors.”

Past District Governor Lion Terakoshi, who honored us with his presence, spoke about joining the Lions Club following the passing of his respected father, fulfilling his father’s long-cherished wish by serving as District Governor, and the background behind successfully inviting the 2019 OSEAL Forum Hiroshima.

Lion Imai shared remarks covering the path that led to his appointment as District Governor, as well as perspectives on the future direction of our clubs, including the potential integration of both clubs.
(Lion Kayo was absent due to prior commitments.)

At the fellowship gathering that followed, performer Rika Nikamoto was invited, and members of both clubs deepened their friendship while enjoying her wonderful performance in a warm and festive atmosphere.

The evening concluded at its height with the Lions Roar led by the son of Lion Choshi, who played a significant role in the decision-making of both Governors, bringing the gathering to a memorable close.

第1601回例会　2月第一例会

本日は、会計L平野の上期会計報告とL森脇による会計監査報告が行われました。予算執行に特段問題も無く、全会一致で承認されました。

その後はL田中による、すっかり恒例となった「当時の世情と一緒に過去のクラブの歴史を振り返る会員スピーチ」がありました。

創立30周年を迎えた1980年頃は会員数が100名を超え、県下最大のクラブとなっていたこと。CN30周年には刀匠 #三上貞直 氏に製作を依頼した日本三大名槍の一つである「日本号」の写しを広島市に寄贈させて頂いたこと。(現在は広島城内に展示)
姉妹クラブである長崎LCから寄贈された「龍踊」セットを用いた龍踊を式典内で披露する様子。
CN20の際に設立した現公益財団法人広島平和LC福祉事業団にメンバーが競うように多額の寄付を寄せていたことが紹介されました。

The 1601st Regular Meeting – First Meeting of February

At today’s meeting, Treasurer Lion Hirano presented the semiannual financial report, followed by the audit report delivered by Lion Moriwaki. There were no particular issues in budget ex*****on, and both reports were unanimously approved.

Afterwards, Lion Tanaka gave what has now become a customary member speech, reflecting on the history of the club alongside the social climate of the time.

Around 1980, when the club celebrated its 30th anniversary, membership had exceeded 100, making it the largest club in the prefecture. On the occasion of the 30th Charter Night (CN30), the club commissioned master swordsmith Mr. Sadanobu Mikami to create a replica of Nihon-go, one of the Three Great Spears of Japan, which was presented to the City of Hiroshima (it is currently exhibited inside Hiroshima Castle).

The presentation also introduced a performance of the traditional “Nagasaki Dragon Dance” using a “Ja odori” set donated by the sister club, Nagasaki Lions Club, as part of a commemorative ceremony.

In addition, it was noted that at the time of CN20, members made substantial donations- almost in competition with one another- to establish what is now the Hiroshima Heiwa Lions Club Welfare Foundation.

第1599回1月第一例会～新年ナイター例会～

2026年初の例会ということで、米寿を迎えるＬ池田、L上、L山田、喜寿を迎えるL大谷、L森脇、L水澄の賀寿の御祝とL平野、L松尾の年男年女のお祝いをしました。

例会の後はおまちかねの新年祝賀会。L住田の木遣を先頭に会長以下、年男年女が入場したのちに寺越名誉顧問の乾杯の発声で祝宴が始まりました。
獅子舞に扮した会長、幹事が宴席を回り、各メンバーに噛みつき邪気を払った後は、恒例の新年初競り。メンバーの持ち寄った高級酒やTTの用意した豪華景品が次々に落札され、笑いの絶えない楽しい時間を過ごしました。
下期も楽しい会にしていきましょう。

The 1599th Meeting – January First Meeting: New Year Night Meeting

As this was our first meeting of 2026, we celebrated milestone birthdays, honoring L Ikeda, L Ue, and L Yamada on reaching Beiju (88th birthday), and L Otani, L Moriwaki, and L Minazumi on reaching Kiju (77th birthday). We also congratulated L Hirano and L Matsuo as this year’s Toshi-otoko and Toshi-onna.

Following the meeting, we held the much-anticipated New Year’s celebration. Led by L Sumida’s traditional kiyari chant, the President, followed by the Toshi-otoko and Toshi-onna, made their entrance. The celebration officially began with a toast proposed by Honorary Advisor Terakoshi.

The President and Secretary, dressed as lion dancers, went around the tables playfully “biting” each member to ward off evil spirits.

This was followed by our customary first auction of the New Year, where premium liquors brought by members and splendid prizes prepared by the Tail Twister were successively auctioned off.

The venue was filled with laughter, and everyone enjoyed a lively and cheerful time together.
Let us continue to make the second half of the year just as enjoyable!

第1598回例会　12月第二例会　－クリスマス例会－

本日の例会は、テールツイスターアワーとして「クリスマス杯争奪戦－輪投げ大会」を行ないました。
成績上位3人に豪華フルーツがサンタクロースから景品として贈られるとのことで、メンバー全員が目の色を変えて取り組みました。
その後は、クリスマス例会らしく食後に美味しいケーキを頂きました。

当例会をもって2025年の活動は終了しました。また来年皆様と元気にお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。

The 1598th Meeting – December 2nd Meeting (Christmas Meeting)

At today’s meeting, we held our Tail Twister Hour special event: the “Christmas Cup-Ring Toss Tournament.”
With the top three performers promised a luxurious fruit prize delivered by Santa himself, every member threw their rings with extraordinary focus and competitive spirit!

After the tournament, we celebrated the Christmas season in style by enjoying delicious cakes for dessert.
With this meeting, our activities for 2025 have come to a close. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

第1597回例会　12月第一例会

本日の例会には日本盲導犬協会島根あさひ訓練センターの高野所長、広報担当の黒田様、そして盲導犬のジェニーちゃんをお招きしました。

先日のチャリティゴルフコンペの際に参加者の皆様からお預かりした浄財を寄付させて頂くとともに、日本盲導犬協会から感謝状を拝受しました。

その後、髙野センター長から、日本盲導犬協会の発足には東京LCからエクステンションした東京虎ノ門LCが深く関わっていること。盲導犬が米国では2万頭、英国で5千頭活躍しているのに対し、日本では768頭しかおらず、必要としている人に行き届いていない状況など色々なお話を頂戴しました。

スピーチの後には実際、人ごみの中でも角まで直進誘導する動作。段差を昇降する際の誘導動作。パーティでの空席を盲導犬が探し出し、着席まで導く動作のデモンストレーションを見せて頂きました。
当クラブでは今後とも目の不自由な方のお力になるべく盲導犬育成事業を強力に支援して参ります。

The 1597th Regular Meeting – First Meeting of December

At today’s meeting, we welcomed Mr. Takano, Director of the Shimane Asahi Training Center of the Japan Guide Dog Association, Mr. Kuroda from the Public Relations Office, and Jenny, a guide dog currently in training.

We presented the donation collected from participants at our recent charity golf tournament, and in return, we received a certificate of appreciation from the Japan Guide Dog Association.

Director Takano then shared several insights, including the important role played by the Tokyo Toranomon LC- an extension of the Tokyo LC - in the establishment of the Japan Guide Dog Association. He also highlighted the significant disparity in the number of active guide dogs: approximately 20,000 in the United States and 5,000 in the United Kingdom, compared with only 768 in Japan, leaving many individuals in need without adequate support.

Following his remarks, we were shown demonstrations of guide dog behavior: guiding straight ahead even through crowds, assisting safely with steps and curbs, and locating an empty seat at a reception and guiding the handler to it.

Our club will continue to place strong emphasis on supporting guide dog training and development initiatives going forward!

献血活動を実施しました。
隣の会場で行われている剣道大会の選手の保護者や審判団、クラブメンバーにもご協力いただき、短い時間ではありましたが、89名もの方に献血していただきました。
ご協力いただいた皆さまには、感謝の気持ちとして当クラブより記念品の卵１パックをお渡しいたしました。
お越し頂きました方々ありがとうございました。

We carried out a blood donation drive.
With the cooperation of the parents of the kendo tournament participants taking place in the neighboring venue, the judges, and our club members, a total of 89 people donated blood despite the limited time available.
As a token of our appreciation, we presented each donor with a pack of eggs from our club.
We sincerely thank everyone for their cooperation!

わがクラブの三大継続アクティビティの一つである「第57回広島市少年剣道錬成大会」が開催されました。
当日は653人の少年剣士が広島サンプラザホールに集い、まず他道場の仲間たちと合同稽古を行ったのち、トーナメント方式による個人戦で日頃の稽古の成果を競い合いました。

広島平和ライオンズクラブは、広島市剣道連盟との共催のもと、50年以上にわたり同大会の運営を支援しており、メダルの提供や審判団への食事提供などを行っています。

The 57th Hiroshima Junior Kendo Training Tournament, one of our club’s three major continuing activities, was held successfully.
A total of 653 young kendo practitioners gathered at Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall, where they first participated in joint training with fellow students from other dojos, and then competed in an individual tournament to test the results of their daily practice.

Hiroshima Heiwa Lions Club has been supporting the management of this tournament for more than 50 years, co-hosting it with the Hiroshima City Kendo Federation, and providing items such as medals and meals for the judges.
