2025年10月25日と11月30日の朝、
本古川町青年団は、本古川通りの清掃活動を行いました。
町内の清掃では、落ち葉に加えて、路肩や駐車場周辺の煙草の吸い殻が目立ちました。
一方で、店舗の前などは普段からきれいに整えられており、日頃より地域の美化にご協力いただいている皆さまに感謝申し上げます。
これからも、定期的に町内の清掃を続けてまいります。

On the mornings of March 1st,
the Youth Association of Motofurukawa-machi carried out a cleanup along Motofurukawa Street.
During the cleanup, we noticed many fallen leaves, as well as cigarette butts along the roadsides and around parking areas.
In contrast, the areas in front of shops were well maintained. We sincerely thank all residents and business owners for their continued efforts in keeping our town beautiful.
We will continue our regular cleaning activities to maintain a clean and welcoming neighborhood.

眼鏡橋では、魔を払う直庫（てっこ）、そして媽祖の従者・順風耳と千里眼が迫力ある演舞を披露しました。

On February 8 and 15, the Youth Association of Motofurukawa-machi worked with neighboring districts to provide crowd control at the Nakashima River Park venue during the Mazu Procession.
Mazu, aboard a traditional Chinese junk, traveled from the Confucius Shrine to Chuo Park.
At Megane Bridge, Teko—who wards off evil—together with Mazu’s attendants Shunfeng’er and Qianliyan, performed a dynamic ceremonial dance.

年末の3日間（12月26日・28日・30日）、
今年も 東古川町自治会 と合同で、「夜警」を行っております。
本古川町の担当日は、12月26日・28日・30日 です。

初日26日には、子どもたちも参加してくれました。

夜警活動にあたり、
日頃よりご賛同・ご寄付をお寄せいただき、誠にありがとうございます。
皆さまの温かいご支援が、私たちの活動の大きな励みとなっております。

本古川町および東古川町の町内を、
20時ごろから1時間ごとに巡回し、
家内安全・火の用心の呼びかけを行っております。
当町では巡回の際、
錫杖を引きずり、じゃらじゃらと響く音で厄災や邪気を払い、
家内安全と火の用心を願いながら、
拍子木を「カン、カン」と二度打ち鳴らしています。
寒い夜の巡回中には、地域の皆さまからのあたたかいお心遣いもいただき、
本当にありがとうございました。
そのお気持ちに、心も体も温めていただきました。
年末年始、
皆さまのご家庭が安全で健やかに過ごせますよう、
本古川町青年団一同、心よりお祈り申し上げます。

Night Patrol
During the year-end season, on December 26, 28, and 30,
we are once again conducting our annual Night Patrol in collaboration with the Higashifurukawa-machi Community Association.
Motofurukawa-machi is responsible for patrols on December 26, 28, and 30.

On the first night, December 26, children also joined the patrol.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported and donated to our Night Patrol activities.
Your warm encouragement continues to be a great source of motivation for us.

From around 8:00 p.m., we patrol the streets of Motofurukawa-machi and Higashifurukawa-machi every hour,
calling for fire prevention and household safety.
During the patrol, we drag a shakujo staff to produce jingling sounds believed to ward off misfortune and evil spirits.
We also strike wooden clappers twice with a sharp “kan-kan” sound,
praying for household safety and fire prevention.
We were also deeply touched by the kind gestures from members of the community during the cold patrol nights.
Your thoughtfulness truly warmed our hearts.
The Motofurukawa-machi Youth Association sincerely wishes everyone a safe, peaceful, and healthy year-end and New Year season.

On the mornings of October 25 and November 30, 2025,
the Youth Association of Motofurukawa-machi carried out a cleanup along Motofurukawa Street.

本古川町は、今年の年番町として、御旅所から諏訪神社まで、三基の御神輿（諏訪・森崎・住吉）お供させていただきました。

随行いただいたお子様たち、本役（ほんやく）・汐汲（しおくみ）・飛び入りとして参加してくださった皆さん、そして保護者の皆さまにも、心より感謝申し上げます。
皆さまのお力添えあってこそ、伝統を受け継ぎ、温かな祭りの輪が広がりました。
年番町として、この歴史ある祭りを支え、ご一緒できたことを誇りに思います。

関係者の皆さま、ありがとうございました。

最後になりましたが、踊町の皆さん、本当にお疲れさまでした。
この３日間の熱演とご奉仕に、心から敬意を表します。

On October 9, the O-Nobori (divine return) procession of the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival took place successfully.
As this year’s Nenban-chō (official supporting town), Motofurukawa-machi accompanied the three sacred Mikoshi — Suwa, Morisaki, and Sumiyoshi — from the Otabisho (temporary shrine) back to Suwa Shrine,
humbly serving as attendants in the divine procession.

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the children who joined the procession —
those in the main roles Honyaku, Shiokumi, Tobiri, and other children
as well as to their parents and guardians.
Your participation made this festival truly special, carrying forward Nagasaki’s living tradition.

It was an honor for Motofurukawa-machi to walk beside you as the Nenban-chō.
With sincere appreciation to everyone involved.

To all the Odori-chō(performing towns) — thank you for your dedication and devotion throughout these three days.

10月7日、澄み渡る秋空のもと、長崎くんち「お下り」が執り行われました。

本古川町は今年の年番町として、三基の御神輿（諏訪・森崎・住吉）に従列者（供奉）としてお供し、行列を伴走・同行いたしました。

沿道から温かいご声援をいただき、誠にありがとうございました。
次は、9日の「お上り」にて、再び神輿のご帰還をお見送りします。

神輿行列において、神様のお供として従う人々のことを指します。

On October 7,
under the clear autumn sky, “O-Kudari” of the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival took place.
As this year’s Nenban-chō (official supporting town),

Motofurukawa-machi accompanied the three sacred Mikoshi (portable shrines of Suwa, Morisaki, and Sumiyoshi) as attendants (Gubu), walking alongside the divine procession through the city.

We sincerely thank everyone along the route for their warm cheers and support.
Next, on October 9, we will once again accompany the divine return in the O-Nobori procession.

10月3日、鎮西大社 諏訪神社にて「供奉員清祓い（ぐぶいんきよはらい）」が執り行われました。
本古川町は今年、長崎くんちの年番町（ねんばんちょう）として参列し、祭礼に奉仕する供奉員の無事と成功を祈願しました。
神事終了後には、「従列人数揃（にいぞろい）」が行われました。

供奉員（ぐぶいん）：お下り・お上りの際、神輿の行列で神様のお供を務める人々のこと。

On October 3, the Gubuin Kiyoharai purification ceremony was held at Suwa Shrine.
As the Nenban-chō for this year’s Nagasaki Kunchi Festival,
Motofurukawa-machi representatives attended to pray for the safety and success of all who serve the festival.
After the ceremony, a brief gathering called Niizoroi was held to reaffirm unity among members.
The photo shows our town’s procession on the way to the shrine — preparing in spirit for the upcoming festival days.

Note: Gubuin refers to those who accompany the portable shrine (mikoshi) during the sacred Oshioroshi and Oagari processions, serving as attendants to the deities.

10月1日、鎮西大社 諏訪神社において長崎くんちの安全と成功を祈願する「事始神事」が執り行われ、本古川町は今年の年番町としてその一翼を担うこととなりました。

10月2日は、氏子清祓（うじこきよはらい）ののち、関係の皆さまをお招きして直会（なおらい）を開催。

本古川町一同、本番に向けて、踊町の皆さまをしっかりとサポートし、陰ながら支えてまいります。どうぞよろしくお願い申し上げます。

— 注釈：
・事始神事 … 長崎くんちの祭礼を始めるにあたり、関係者が参列して安全・無事を祈願する神事

・直会（なおらい） … 神前に供えられた御饌（みけ）や御酒（みき）を皆で分かちいただき、神様とのつながりを確かめつつ、関係者の親睦を深める宴。長崎くんちでは、年番町が関係者を招き、交流と結束を深める大切な場となります。

On October 1, at Suwa Shrine, the “Koto-hajime Shinji” was held to pray for the safety and success of the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival. This year, Motofurukawa-machi serves as the Nenban-Cho, and we are honored to take on this important role.
On October 2, following the Ujiko Kiyoharai (Purification Ceremony for Parishioners), we hosted a Naorai (Sacred Banquet), inviting all related guests.
As the festival approaches, everyone in Motofurukawa-machi will work together to firmly support the Odori-machi (performing town) and stand behind them throughout the celebrations. We sincerely appreciate your continued support.

— Notes:
・Koto-hajime Shinji … A ritual marking the beginning of the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival, where participants pray for safety and the successful completion of the celebrations.
・Naorai … A banquet where food and sake offered to the deities are shared among the participants, reaffirming bonds with the divine and deepening fellowship among people. At the Nagasaki Kunchi, the Nenban-machi hosts this important occasion to strengthen ties and unity among all involved.

9月は、夏に生い茂った花壇の雑草などを刈り取りました。
引き続き町内の清掃を定期的に続けてまいりたいと思います。

the Youth Association of Motofurukawa-machi carried out street cleaning along Motofurukawa Street.
In August, we found many cigarette butts around the parking area, along with remnants of firecrackers from the Shōrō-nagashi festival.
In September, we trimmed overgrown weeds from the flowerbeds after the summer growth.
We will continue our regular cleanup activities to help keep our neighborhood clean and welcoming.
