As we reflect on D Day and its legacy, we also honor the origins of humanitarian support to the military. The Service to the Armed Forces mission was born on the battlefield, standing beside service members in their greatest moments of need and sacrifice. That commitment continues today as we support the well being, readiness, and resilience of our military community.

Misawa Air Base we invite you to watch and reflect on how these defining moments still shape the way we care for and connect with those who serve.

American Red Cross Misawa is proud to honor the sacrifice of our armed forces and remain dedicated to supporting them and their families every step of the way.

According to a new survey conducted by the American Red Cross, 8 out of 10 people believe it’s very important to know CPR and how to use an AED, yet only a quarter of Americans feel confident performing CPR or using an AED.

Every year in the U.S., more than 300,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and about 60-80% of them die before reaching the hospital. If someone collapses at home or in public, CPR and AED training could mean the difference between life and death.

Cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time. CPR and AED use isn’t just for first responders and medical professionals. During cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a person’s chance of survival by about 7% to 10%. When CPR and an AED is used within the first few minutes of collapse, survival rates can double or even triple.

Studies show bystanders often hesitate to step in during a cardiac emergency due to fear and lack of training. Gain the skills and confidence to act when seconds matter by taking a Red Cross CPR and first aid course.

🌀 TCCOR 2 SET FOR CFAY – U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka Operations Update 🌀

Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) has set Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) 2 for Tropical Storm 06W (Jangmi). TCCOR 2 indicates that destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are possible within 24 hours.

At this time, CFAY anticipates transitioning to TCCOR 1 at approximately 8 p.m. today, June 2.

🏥 What this means for USNH Yokosuka patients:

🟡 TCCOR 2
• Hospital staff have begun coordinating with patients who are 36 weeks pregnant or later regarding potential shelter-in-place procedures should storm conditions worsen.
• Ensure you have enough prescription medication to last through the storm and recovery period. If you need a refill, call the automated refill line at DSN 243-4689.

🔴 When TCCOR 1 is announced
• All routine hospital services will close.
• Scheduled appointments will be canceled.
• Patients affected by closures will be contacted by staff when possible and may also reschedule appointments by calling DSN 243-5352.
• Expectant mothers who are 36 weeks pregnant or later may report to the hospital.
• Emergency Room and ambulance services will remain operational.
• The hospital will reopen once ALL CLEAR is declared by CFAY.

📢 Announced closures and operational updates will be shared on this page as they become available.
