🎓SY2026-2027 Education Fee Grants (Asia-Pacific Region)🎓

Wesley Zaidan is pleased to announce that the SY2026-2027 Education Fee Grants (Asia-Pacific Region) will be open for applications from September 1 to September 30.

Grants are awarded to institutions that are partners of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, based on their nomination and recommendation of students with demonstrated financial need. Eligible students are undergraduate students in their 2nd year or higher at these partner institutions in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste.

Application templates will be shared only with partner institutions through the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia. Students must apply through their institution and cannot apply directly. The guidelines are available on our website.

☀Mission Service Work Camp 2026 in Cambodia☀

参加者のMさんによる8月17日の振り返りをお読みください。

最終日、フィリピン、韓国、ケニアから来た参加者や、現地スタッフとお別れをしました。たった一週間という短い時間でしたが、一緒に活動し、食事をし、笑い合う中で、まるでずっと前から知っていた友人と別れるような、深い悲しさがありました。特に、フィリピンからの参加者と現地スタッフのリアサイが手紙をくれたことがとても嬉しく、一緒に過ごした時間が、心に残る大切な思い出になりました。
お別れは寂しいけれど、ここから私たち一人ひとりが、それぞれの場所へ神様に遣わされていくのだと学びました。住む場所も、これから歩んでいく道も違います。それでも、遠く離れていても、同じ空の下で同じ神様を見上げることができる。そのことを思うと、不思議と心に安心が生まれました。
この一週間で与えられた出会いと学びをこれからも大切にし、私の置かれた場所で、神様から与えられた役割を果たしていきたいと思います。

Here is M’s reflection on August 17.

On the final day, we said goodbye to the participants from the Philippines, Korea, and Kenya, as well as the local staff. Although we had spent only one short week together, working, eating, and laughing together, saying goodbye was deeply sad, as if I were parting with friends I had known for a long time. I was especially touched to receive letters from the participants from the Philippines and from Reasey, one of the local staff. The time we shared together has become a precious memory that will remain in my heart.

Although saying goodbye is difficult, I learned that from this point on, each of us is being sent by God to our own place. The places where we live and the paths we will walk from here will be different. Even so, no matter how far apart we may be, we can still look up to the same God under the same sky. Thinking about this somehow brought a sense of peace and reassurance to my heart.

I want to continue cherishing the encounters and lessons God gave me during this week, and I hope to fulfill the role God has given me in the place where I am called to be.

☀Mission Service Work Camp 2026 in Cambodia☀

Mission Service Work Camp 2026は、8月17日の閉会礼拝にて全てのプログラムが終了しました。小海代表理事からメッセージを頂き、主にあって心をひとつに合わせてこのキャンプを締めくくりました。また、お世話になったカンボジアのスタッフにメッセージカードをプレゼントし、感謝を伝えました。自由観光の後、ケニアからの参加者1名、フィリピンからの参加者2名、韓国からの参加者1名と別れ、日本の参観者は空港に向かいました。今から飛行機に搭乗します。すべての参加者の帰路が守られますようにどうぞお祈りください。

Mission Service Work Camp 2026 came to an end with the Closing Worship Service on August 17. We received a message from Rev. Hikari Kokai, and brought the camp to a close with our hearts united in Christ. We also gave message cards to the Cambodian staff who had supported us throughout the program as a way of expressing our gratitude.

After some free time for sightseeing, we said goodbye to one participant from Kenya, two from the Philippines, and one from Korea, while the Japanese participants headed to the airport. We are about to board our flight.
Please pray that all the participants will have a safe journey home and that everyone’s travels will be protected.

参加者のKarenさんによる8月16日の振り返りをお読みください。

今日は教会の礼拝から始まりました。言葉の壁はありつつも、現地の方々の熱い賛美と深い信仰に深く心を打たれる時間となりました。夕方からはスザンナ・ウェスレー・ドミトリーを訪れ、学生の皆さんとの交流を深めました。温かい歓迎と溢れるエネルギーに包まれ、一緒に行ったしおり作りや食事の時間を通して、直接言葉を交わせたことが大きな喜びでした。特に、ひとりの学生さんが「韓国に留学したい」といった将来の夢を明るく語ってくれた姿が深く心に残っています。彼女たちがそれぞれの望む未来へ歩んでいけるよう強く祈るとともに、温かく準備し支えてくださったスタッフやチームの皆さまに心から感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。明日、とうとう帰国の日を迎えることが寂しいですが、最後の時間まで皆さんと一緒に大切に過ごしたいです。

Today began with a church service. Although there was a language barrier, I was deeply moved by the passionate worship and strong faith of the local people.

In the evening, we visited the Susanna Wesley Dormitory and had the opportunity to deepen our fellowship with the students. We were surrounded by their warm welcome and vibrant energy, and it was a great joy to communicate with them directly through making bookmarks together and sharing a meal.

One moment that especially stayed with me was when one of the students spoke brightly about her dream of studying in Korea. I sincerely pray that each of them will be able to pursue the future they hope for. I am also filled with heartfelt gratitude to all the staff and team members who warmly prepared for us and supported this opportunity.

Tomorrow, we will finally return home, and I feel very sad that our time in Cambodia is coming to an end. Until the very last moment, I want to cherish the time we have left and spend it together with everyone.

日曜日ということで、教会を訪れました。とても綺麗な教会で、韓国のキリスト教会が2017年に会堂を寄贈したそうです。全編がクメール語で内容の理解は難しかったですが、思いは１つです。教会に集い、礼拝を共にできた恵みに感謝したいと思います。
ロシアンマーケットは、ナイトマーケットのお祭りのような雰囲気とは異なり、商店街のような雰囲気を感じました。スザンナウェスレードミトリーでは聖句を書いた栞の作成と交換、食事を共にしました。皆さんの喜びが伝わり、こちらも嬉しくなりました。明日でカンボジアを発つため、とても寂しい思いですが、発つその時まで与えられたこの時を大切にしたいと思います。

Here is Joun’s reflection on August 16.

As it was Sunday, we visited a local church. It was a beautiful church, and we learned that the church building had been donated in 2017 by a Korean Christian church. Although it was difficult to fully understand the service because it was conducted entirely in Khmer, I was reminded that we share the same faith and the same heart. I am grateful for the blessing of gathering together as one church and worshiping God together.
The Russian Market had a different atmosphere from the lively feeling of a night market. Instead, it felt more like a traditional shopping district, with many shops and vendors lined up together.
At the Susanna Wesley Dormitory, we made and exchanged bookmarks with Bible verses written on them, and shared a meal together. I could feel the joy of the students, which made me happy as well.
Since we will be leaving Cambodia tomorrow, I feel very sad that our time here is coming to an end. Until the very moment we depart, I want to cherish every moment that God has given us here.

☀Mission Service Work Camp 2026 in Cambodia☀

8月16日は、Wesley Methodist Churchの礼拝に参加し、礼拝の中で賛美をさせていただきました。午後は、Russian Marketという市場を散策し、カンボジアのお土産を購入しました。

夕方からは、The United Methodist Mission Officeのミニストリーの一つであるSusanna Wesley Dormitoryを訪れました。この寮は、地方出身の女子大学生のための寮です。そこで、寮の働きについてお話を伺うとともに、シングルマザーや、経済的な理由などから学校への進学を断念せざるを得なかった若い女性たちを対象とした職業訓練プロジェクト「Shine Project」について学びました。

その後、寮の学生たちとしおり作りを通して楽しく交流し、一緒に夕食を囲みました。しおりには、それぞれが好きな聖句を書き、自分がつくったしおりを互いにプレゼントをしました。私たちを温かく迎えてくださったSusanna Wesley Dormitoryの皆さんお一人おひとりに、心から感謝します。

On August 16, we attended worship at Wesley Methodist Church, where we were given the opportunity to lead worship through song. In the afternoon, we explored the Russian Market and bought some souvenirs from Cambodia.

In the evening, we visited Susanna Wesley Dormitory, one of the ministries of The United Methodist Mission Office. The dormitory provides housing for female university students from rural areas. We learned about the ministry of the dormitory, as well as the “Shine Project,” a vocational training project for single mothers and young women who have had to give up pursuing their education for financial or other reasons.

Afterwards, we enjoyed making bookmarks and spending time with the students. Each of us wrote our favorite Bible verse on a bookmark and gave it to one another as a gift. It was a joyful time of fellowship with the students, followed by dinner together. We are deeply grateful to each and every person at Susanna Wesley Dormitory for welcoming us so warmly.

☀Mission Service Work Camp 2026 in Cambodia☀

参加者のAyakaさんによる8月15日の振り返りをお読みください。

建設作業のワークは4回目であり、今日が最終回でした。4日間の作業を通して、少しずつつ作業の流れについていけるようになり、最後まで全力でやりきれたことを嬉しく思います。作業後には、プログラム参加者全員で感謝を伝えるために歌い、crewの方々と昼食を共にしました。作業中にはあまり見ることのできなかった、リラックスした穏やかな表情や笑顔を見ることができ、crewの方々との距離が少し縮まったように感じました。一方で、やっと作業の流れについていけるようになったところで今日が最後だと思うと、寂しさも感じました。それでも、最後まで全力で作業に取り組み、やりきることができてよかったです。　
また、子どもたちとの交流では、準備段階で感じていた不安が吹き飛ぶほどの笑顔と元気をもらいました。一緒に遊んだり、歌ったり、体を動かしたりする中で、言葉が十分に通じなくても楽しくコミュニケーションを取ることができました。　
子どもたちやcrewの方々の表情や笑顔を通して、人と人をつなぐのは言葉だけでなく、気持ちや行動によって心を通わせることができるのだと実感しました。　この場所で、このメンバーで過ごせる時間も残りわずかです。今回出会えた人々との時間を大切にし、一瞬一瞬を噛み締めながら最後まで過ごしていきます。

Here is Ayaka’s reflection on August 15.

Today was the fourth and final day of our construction work. Over the four days, I　gradually became more familiar with the work. I was glad that I was able to give my best and complete the work until the end. After the work, all the program participants sang a song to express our gratitude and had lunch together with the crew. I saw their relaxed and peaceful expressions and smiles, which I did not often see while we were working. It made me feel that we had become a little closer to each other. At the same time, I felt a little sad because today was already our last day. Still, I am glad that I was able to work hard until the very end.

During our time with the children, I received so many smiles and so much energy from them, and all the worries I had felt while preparing for the activity disappeared. We played, sang, and moved our bodies together, and even though we could not always communicate well with words, we had fun and connected with each other.

Through the expressions and smiles of the children and the crew, I realized that words are not the only way to connect people. We can also connect with each other through our feelings and actions.

There is only a little time left for us to spend in this place. I want to treasure the time with everyone I have met during this program and spend the rest of our time cherishing every moment.

☀Mission Service Work Camp 2026 in Cambodia☀

Here is Nickson’s reflection on August 15.

It has been a meaningful experience for me, especially as I continue learning what it means to serve God and others. Morning devotion led by Rev Hikari
‎During our morning devotion, we reflected on Matthew 14:13–21, where Jesus feeds the five thousand with five loaves and two fish. What stood out to me was that Jesus used what seemed small and insufficient to meet the needs of many people. This reminded me that in mission, I do not need to have everything. What matters is being willing to offer what I have my time, skills, compassion, and presence and allow God to use them and bring "transformation".

‎After we had construction in progress where we laid our last portion of Mixing And placing concrete when we were done, we had a Lunch fellowship at Svay Kiev with crews as a way of saying Or-kun "Thankyou" For Accommodating us and sharing skills and experience together.
‎
‎Our visit to the Cambodian Students and Children Fund Organization (CSCFO) In the afternoon. Meeting those Cute little Angels children and seeing their situation touched my heart deeply. I was reminded that mission is not simply about doing things for people, but about seeing their dignity, Hope, listening to their stories, building relationships, and walking alongside them. Even a small act of kindness can communicate love and hope.
‎Serving alongside Wesley Zaidan has also helped me appreciate the beauty of working across cultures with community at large. We may come from different backgrounds, but we can learn from one another and serve together because of our shared commitment to God’s mission.
‎This experience is transforming me by teaching me to be more compassionate, humble, open-minded, and willing to serve. I am learning that mission is not only about changing the world; it is also about allowing God to change me as I serve. OR-KUN. 🙏

☀Mission Service Work Camp 2026 in Cambodia☀

8月15日は、ワーク最終日でした。作業を終えた後は、4日間お世話になったクルーの方々と一緒にランチをし、感謝を伝えるとともに、和やかなひとときを過ごすことができました。
午後は、Cambodian Students and Children Fund Organization（Street Children Ministries）を訪問し、その働きについて学び、子どもたちと交流しました。アートやバルーンを使った遊びをしたり、ダンスや歌を一緒に楽しんだりしながら、笑顔あふれる時間を過ごすことができました。
夜にはレストランで食事をした後、週末のナイトマーケットを訪れました。さまざまな活動が詰まった、充実した一日となりました。

August 15 was our final day of the work project. After finishing the work, we had lunch together with the crew members who had supported us throughout the four days. It was a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude to them and spend a warm and relaxing time together.
In the afternoon, we visited the Cambodian Students and Children Fund Organization (Street Children Ministries), where we learned about their work and had the opportunity to interact with the children. We enjoyed doing art activities, playing with balloons, and dancing and singing together. It was a joyful time filled with smiles and laughter.
In the evening, we went to a restaurant for dinner and then enjoyed the weekend night market. It was a full and meaningful day filled with many memorable experiences.
