ULI（アーバンランド・インスティテュート）は、不動産開発と土地活用政策の分野に直接または、間接的な立場から関わる人々のための”ベスト・プラクティス”(至上の実践）を追求する非営利教育研究機関です。1936年に米国で創設され、現在までに全世界で38,000人を超える会員を擁しています。
ULI会員は、世界中の開発・再開発周辺地域、ビジネス街、地域社会でまちづくりの方向性を示すデベロッパーや投資家、オーナー、デザイナー、プランナー、コンサルタント、金融サービス専門家、公務員、学識者などの専門家により構成されています。ULIは、特定の業種のためにロビー活動や擁護活動をすることはせず、その客観的な立場が高く評価されています。これまでにULIは、「壁のない大学」、不動産関連の「シンクタンク」などと紹介されてきました。具体的には、土地活用に関する政策に影響を与えるために、次のような取り組みを行ってい

ULI, the Urban Land Institute, is nonprofit research and education organization supported by its members. Founded in 1936, we now have more than 38,000 members worldwide, representing the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines working in private enterprise and public service. A multidisciplinary real estate forum, ULI facilitates an open exchange of ideas, information, and experience among industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places. Our members are the leaders who plan, develop and redevelop neighborhoods, business districts and communities around the world. They include developers, investors, owners, designers, planners, consultants, financial services professionals, government officials and academics. Trusted for its objectivity, ULI neither lobbies nor acts as an advocate for any single industry. Variously described as a “university without walls” and a “real estate think tank” ULI seeks to influence land use policy and practice by:
•Providing objective information about trends and issues that affect the industry;
•Educating professionals in the field; and
•Providing opportunities for land use and development practitioners and policy makers to exchange ideas and experiences about best land use and development practices.
