[long post]🎉🥂 I am happy to share that on June 19th, a team of industry volunteers and I launched our first Sketch - a CXO Discussion Party, at WeWork Japan VIP Room with a sunset view of Tokyo Tower🗼 , where enterprise CXOs and friends discussed a series of social issues holistically and cross-sectorally, this time focusing on my personal cause, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) and innovation/transformation, bilingually in English and Japanese.
The quality and diversity (Japan context) of the speakers and participants got excellent reviews!
Topics covered ranged from DEI being mission critical for businesses, thanks to Seiji Yasubuchi and Jens Heitland, importance of addressing gender gap and wellbeing thanks to Miki Oikawa, LQBTQ+ inclusion thanks to Larry Bates, global talent pool and inclusion thanks to Yohei Shibasaki, startup ecosystem needing to thrive with more diversity thanks to David Milstein, and corporate “change fatigue” that is often overlooked by CXOs by Ted Nakai.
Workshop was facilitated by the amazing Rochelle Kopp.
The exclusive VIP room was provided by WeWork CEO Johnny Yoo who led the toast at the event.

I’m happy hearing that business conversations are already happening as some of you met each other at this event, but most importantly, we are determined to create ongoing opportunities for us to take a moment away from the day-to-day, and elevate our thinking to envision, collectively, what sort of future we aim to create for Japan, humanity and the universe (space sector is big in Japan).
In today’s world, we face incredible challenges and rapid changes, such as community divide and conflicts, climate change, GenAI affecting work and life, human migration; and in Japan we face a declining economy with currency devaluation while in huge government debt, natural disasters, ageing society, labor shortage and decades-delayed digital transformation.
Often we feel too small for impact, yet, as a CXO community who else but ourselves to take on these challenges? Let’s go!
