On June 4, 2026, the final Board Meeting of the Rotary year led by President Miyuki Ochi and Secretary Taro Yoshida was held.

While a few items remain to be carried over to the next Rotary year, the meeting was a fitting and successful conclusion to an outstanding year of service and leadership.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all members of the Rotary Club of Tokyo Hiroo and to our Board members for their support and dedication throughout the year.

President Ochi and Secretary Yoshida, although a little time remains in your term, congratulations on completing your final Board Meeting. Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and leadership.

■Message from President Ochi
Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you so much to all our guests and visitors for joining us today. A very warm welcome to you all. Last week, I had the pleasure of attending Homecoming Day, where I met with members of the Canadian School. They have long shared a deep interest in our MMM (Music Mends Minds) initiative. We had previously discussed the idea of visiting the Nakameguro nursing home together, but due to conflicting school events and exam schedules, it was difficult to find the right timing. I am absolutely delighted to share that we have finally made it happen, and our joint visit is officially set for this coming autumn! Furthermore, the momentum continues to grow. Today, we are joined by fellow Rotarians from the Fukushima Koriyama South Rotary Club, who have also shown an interest in MMM. In fact, they will be coming along with us to our Nakameguro visit later today. It brings me immense joy to see the circle of MMM expanding so beautifully—bringing together people of different generations, backgrounds, and regions. Thank you all for your incredible support, and let’s make today another meaningful day.

Profile
Born in 1988 in Fukui City Prefecture, Japan. After working at a trading company, a global consulting firm, and a startup company, Taichi kimura co-founded MAGO MOTORS JAPAN Co., Ltd.with aartist Mago Nagasaka in Sept.2022. Driven by the mission of solving environmental and poverty issues in the slums of Ghana-known as “one of the world’s largest electronic waste dumps”-through business, he has been promoting EV projects, recycling businesses, and agricultural initiatives. Starting from scratch , the company has created employment for 102 people in Ghana as of May 2026. He advocates a new capitalist framework called “Sustainable Capitalism”, in which the three pillars of economy , culture, and environment (social contribution) create a positive cycle. Through this vision, he aims to create 10,000 jobs by 2030.

皆様、こんにちは。本日も多くのゲストやビジターの皆様にお越しいただき、誠にありがとうございます。心より歓迎申し上げます。

先週、私は「ホームカミングデー」に参加して参りました。カナディアンスクールの皆様は以前から私たちのMMM（Music Mends Minds）の活動に深い関心を寄せてく下さっていて、かねてより「ぜひ一緒に中目黒のホームを訪問しよう」というアイデアがあったのですが、生徒さんたちの試験や学校行事との兼ね合いで、なかなか
タイミングが合いませんでした。しかしこの度、ついに調整がつき、今年の秋口に共同訪問が実現する運びとなりました！若い世代のエネルギーが加わることを、今から大変心強く、楽しみにしています。

そして嬉しい広がりはそれだけではありません。

本日お越しいただいている郡山南ロータリークラブの皆様もMMMの活動に共感して下さり、この後、中目黒のホームへご一緒してくださることになっております。このように、国籍や世代、地域を超えて様々な方を巻き込みながら、MMMの活動の輪が大きく広がっていくことを、本当に嬉しく、頼もしく感じております。今日もまた新しい絆が生まれる素晴らしい一日となりますように。

1988年生まれ、福井県福井市出身。商社、総合コンサルティングファーム、スタートアッﾌﾟ企業の３社を経て、 2022年9月、美術家・長坂真護と共にMAGO MOTORS JAPAN株式会社を設立。「世界最大級の電子機器の墓場」と言われるガーナのスラム街の環境・貧困問題を、ビジネスを通じて解決すべく、EV事業・リサイクル事業・農業などを推進。ゼロから事業を立ち上げ、2025年7月時点でガーナ現地で119名の雇用を創出。経済・文化・環境（社会貢献）の３軸が好循環する新しい資本主義の仕組み、「サステナブル・キャンピタリズム」を提唱し、2030年までに１万名の雇用を目指す。

■Message from President Ochi

Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for joining our regular meeting following the Golden Week holidays. I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing break. As for myself, I spent my time tackling some decluttering at home and took a short trip to Gora in Hakone. While I enjoyed the visit, I was struck by how much the town is changing. Many long-established Japanese confectioneries and soba restaurants have been forced to close their doors due to a lack of successors. In their place, hotel chains and trendy modern shops are opening up. It was disheartening to see the traditional charm of the area gradually fading away. This experience led me to reflect on our future service projects. Perhaps finding ways to support the "healthy preservation of Japan’s meticulous craftsmanship" and traditions should be a meaningful focus for our club's activities moving forward.

■Message from Secretary Yoshida

The strong earthquake (upper 6 on the Japanese scale) that struck off the eastern coast of Aomori Pref. on Dec.8th last year caused extensive damage in the affected areas. In addition, on Apr.12th, a massive typhoon directly hit Chuuk Island and Saipan Island within the PBG region. Our club would like to send relief donations to these disaster-stricken areas. If you are able to contribute, please make your donation at the meeting venue by the May 21st meeting.

“Cultural Differences Are Full of Surprises”

Profile
Masamitsu Kobayashi is an experienced management consultant and educator specializing in cross-cultural
business and global management. After graduating from Meiji University with a degree in Commerce, he spent
38 years at Honda Motor Co., Ltd., including 22 years in international assignments across Italy, Canada, China, and Germany. His overseas experience, which included serving as President of a local financial subsidiary in Germany, provided him with deep insights into the impact of cultural differences on business operations. Recognizing the challenges posed by differing values and customs, Mr. Kobayashi focused on intercultural
communication and management theory in the latter part of his career. Following his retirement from Honda, he
earned an MBA from Hosei University and became a certified Small and Medium Enterprise Management
Consultant. He currently lectures on management and global business at Hosei University Graduate School of
Business Administration and Yokohama College of Commerce. Drawing on both theory and practical experience,
Mr. Kobayashi supports professionals preparing for overseas assignments and those engaged in international
business, helping them navigate cross-cultural challenges and manage global teams effectively.

■越智会長より
連休明けの例会にご出席頂き、ありがとうございます。今年のｺﾞｰﾙﾃﾞﾝｳｨｰｸはいかがお過ごしでしたでしょうか。
私は、自宅の断捨離に精を出す傍ら、箱根の強羅へ足を運んで参りました。強羅でこの数年感じるのは街の移り
変わりの速さです。長年親しまれてきた和菓子屋さんやお蕎麦屋さんが、後継者不足により次々と暖簾を下ろして、
その跡地にはﾎﾃﾙや現代的な店舗が並び、かつての風情が失われつつある光景に、一抹の寂しさを覚えずにはいられませんでした。日本の「丁寧な手仕事」や「伝統」をいかに健全な形で次世代へ繋いでいくか。それは、私たちが今後取り組むべき「奉仕活動」の新たな分野の一つかもしれない。そんなことを深く考えさせられた休日となりました。

■吉田幹事より
昨年12月8日に青森県東方沖にて発生した震度６強の地震により現地に甚大な被害が生じました。また、4月
12日には巨大台風がPBG内のﾁｭｰｸ島やｻｲﾊﾟﾝ島を直撃しております。当クラブとしては、これらの被災地区に
義援金を贈りたいと思います。ご協力いただける方は、5月21日の例会までに例会場でご寄付をお願い致します。

「文化の違いはサプライズに満ちている」

プロフィール
明治大学商学部商学科卒業後、本田技研工業にて38年間勤務。本田技研工業在職中は海外に勤務する期間が長く、四カ国、22年に及んだ。海外駐在地はイタリア、カナダ、中国、そしてドイツ。それぞれ、欧州、アメリカ大陸、アジアの
文化を代表する地域での仕事経験は、異文化理解に強い影響を受けた。ドイツ駐在時には金融会社現地法人の社長を務めた。 22年間それぞれの国において外国人スタッフとともに仕事を進めたが、彼らの言動は時として日本人駐在員からすると理解に苦しむことがあり、ストレスとなった。その原因が日本と現地との文化、価値観、習慣の違いに
あると気が付き、ビジネスに与える影響に興味を持つようになった。退職前の数年間には異文化コミュニケーションについて深く学び、調査したり、体験を理論化することに力を注いだ。本田技研退職後には、国家資格の中小企業診断士およびMBA（法政大学）を取得し、現在は経営コンサルティングとして、また法政大学経営大学院の特任講師および横浜商科大学の非常勤講師として登壇し、経営管理論およびグローバルビジネス論について指導している。仕事に影響を与える文化・価値観・習慣の違いなど、経営管理理論も踏まえたうえで、ビジネスにおける異文化理解や海外現地法人のマネジメントについて赴任予定者、海外ビジネスをする方々のお役に立てると信じている。

■Message from President Ochi
Hello everyone. Today, we are delighted to welcome a special visitor all the way from Barcelona. Welcome to Japan during this beautiful season of fresh greenery! The cherry blossoms have fallen, making way for the stunning azaleas. I recently visited Nezu Shrine, and the vibrant azaleas there were breathtaking—truly a sight to behold.

I highly recommend taking the time to see them.
Today is also the day for our MMM (Music Mends Minds) visit to the nursing home in Nakameguro. With each visit, the residents look forward to our program more and more. I hope to see as many Hiroo members as possible join us; your participation makes a world of difference. Speaking of music, we have a very special program today. We are honored to welcome Ms. Yumiko Orishige, the world's only Claviola player, along with guitarist Mr. Arata Umehara. Let us sit back and immerse ourselves in the beautiful, healing melodies of this unique duo.

皆様、こんにちは。本日は、はるばるバルセロナからビジターをお迎えしております。新緑が眩しいこの季節の日本へ、ようこそお越しくださいました。桜の季節が過ぎ、今はツツジが美しい盛りを迎えています。先日、根津神社の
ツツジを拝見して参りましたが、その色鮮やかな景色は正に圧巻の美しさでした。皆様も足を運んでみて下さい。
さて、本日はMMM（Music Mends Minds）による中目黒のホーム訪問日でもあります。回を重ねるごとに、入居者の皆様も私たちの訪問を心待ちにしてくださるようになりました。一人でも多くの広尾メンバーと一緒に伺えればと思っておりますので、皆様の積極的なご参加をお待ちしています。そして「音楽」といえば、本日の卓話は特別です。世界で唯一のクラビオーラ奏者である折重由美子さんと、ギタリストの梅原新さんをお迎えし、デュオ演奏を披露していただきます。お二人が奏でる素晴らしい癒しの音色を楽しみましょう。

東京にある日本最大の盲学校へ入学し、世界が広がる。高校３年生の時に１年間のアメリカ留学を経験し、同時期にタイ人の友達を通してタイの魅力のとりことなる。その後、大学生時代にタマサート大学で１年間、社会人に
なってからインドのカンターリ・インターナショナルで１年間、それぞれ刺激的な学びを経験し、2010年に「アーク
どこでも本読み隊」を立ち上げる。現在アークの活動として、チェンマイ県プラーオ郡で、地域に開かれた
「ランマイ図書館」と、山岳民族の子供たちの幼児教育センター、「太陽の家」と「笑顔の家」を運営。趣味は自然を浴びること、今興味があるのはミニマリズムとゼロウェイスト。特技はどこでも寝られてなんでも食べられること。

2026年4月22日、国際ロータリー第2750地区山の手東グループ11クラブ合同例会が開催されました。

会場はホテルニューオータニ東京の美しい日本庭園🌿

都心とは思えない静けさと緑に包まれ、心がすっと癒されるひとときとなりました。
特別な空間での例会に感謝です。

On April 22, 2026, the Yamanote Higashi Group Joint Meeting of 11 clubs in Rotary International District 2750 was held.

The venue was the beautiful Japanese garden at Hotel New Otani Tokyo 🌿

Surrounded by greenery and a tranquility hard to believe in the heart of the city, it was a truly soothing and refreshing experience.

We are grateful for the opportunity to hold our meeting in such a special setting.
