Did you know the man who created the Miura and Countach used to sign business contracts on an employee's back in the middle of a muddy vineyard?

In this piece, Satoshi Shibata shares a rare, behind-the-scenes look into Ferruccio Lamborghini's life at Tenuta Lamborghini in Umbria, Italy. Through an exclusive interview with Giuseppina "Giuji" Maccioni, who has watched over the estate since 1978, we rediscover the down-to-earth roots of the automotive legend.

Ferruccio had already built a supercar the world loved, but his next dream was to build a w**e the world would love. From kicking up dust in the vines with his supercars to working the soil by hand to cultivate his passion, this is the Ferruccio only Giuji knows.

Papua New Guinea is not for the faint-hearted. It’s one of the most expensive, unpredictable and fiercely beautiful destinations left on earth.

GoConnect’s publisher Simon Farrell recently took the new direct flight from Narita to Port Moresby, diving into a nation of contradictions. He experienced the chaos of the Mount Hagen Cultural Show and history of WWII relics hidden in dense jungles before moving to the communal warmth of the locals amid underlying dangers.

If you are looking for sanitized luxury, look elsewhere. But if you want a genuine, unfiltered journey of tribal pride, wild dolphins and real-world extremes, read his full account of the price of paradise. Link in bio.

Japan isn’t just Tokyo. Despite what far too much marketing copy would tell you.

When marketing to English-speaking residents, assuming "Tokyo is Japan" is a quick way to waste your ad spend. A localized business in Osaka or Hokkaido needs a decisively different geographic strategy than a premium event in Roppongi.

In our latest article for GoConnect, Raynard Yu looks at the latest Immigration Services Agency data and share exactly what our own campaigns, including a highly targeted Meta campaign for a tea salon near Osaka Castle and a high-converting giveaway for the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, reveal about reaching such a niche audience
effectively.

If you want to reach English-speaking residents without wasting reach, read full his top three geographic targeting strategies. Link in comment section.

Record attendance. Surging TV viewership.

Japan’s J.League is proving that targeted fan engagement translates directly to brand value. According to the newly released Brand Finance Football 50 2026 report, J.League attendance hit a record 13.5 million last season, driving massive growth for the country's top clubs.

1️⃣ Kashima Antlers (BSI: 63.7) - Leading the league with a strong digital strategy and community initiatives.
2️⃣ Gamba Osaka (BSI: 62.9) - Ranked #1 for making fans feel appreciated.
3️⃣ Urawa Reds (BSI: 58.3) - Setting the standard for passionate supporter culture.

"Japanese football is increasingly becoming a story about how clubs understand and engage their supporters," notes Alex Haigh, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance.

While Real Madrid and FC Barcelona dominate globally, Japan’s data-led, community-first approach is creating a blueprint for lasting fan relationships.

Niseko is world-famous for its powder snow, but what does it take to build the sort of luxury home that offers something in all four seasons?

GoConnect sat down with experienced Sapporo-based architect Yosuke Tomiya to discuss his design philosophy, the realities of Hokkaido's climate and why modern insulation techniques now mean the beauty of winter can still be inches away from a cozy home.

If you're considering building or buying property in Niseko, Tomiya's insights on radiant heating, glazing and site potential are a must-read.

“I was once at a Tokyo business party with an American client when a man handed us his card and said: ‘I serve as an advisor to 38 companies.’”

In Japan, this is an impressive display of network and borrowed credibility. But to my Western client, it sparked a flurry of suspicious questions about conflict of interest, contracts and actual workload.

He asked me: "Is he an advisor, or just a broker carrying company names?"
That question highlights a massive translation gap in international business. In Japan, the title "komon" acts as a catch-all term for roles ranging from strategic management to simple introductions. But when that ambiguity crosses borders into Western markets that expect distinct, contractually defined roles, it often creates confusion.

In our latest article at GoConnect, Satoshi Shibata breaks down why the Japanese "komon" is so hard to translate, the inherent dangers of title-first relationships and how professionals can frame these roles to build trust on a global scale.

Are you targeting "English speakers in Japan"? There’s more questions you want to ask to find your target audience.

Language is a filter, not an audience on itself. When brands cast a wide net for anyone who reads English, they are combining vastly different buyer profiles:

✈️ The backpacker on a 5-day Osaka itinerary
📦 The newcomer just trying to sign an apartment lease
🏙️ The long-term resident seeking exclusive, off-the-beaten-path experiences
💼 The offshore investor evaluating prime Tokyo real estate

A generic message might get page views, but it struggles to drive conversions. Each of these profiles requires different content, a different tone and a specific call to action.

In our latest article, GoConnect Marketing Lead Raynard Yu explains why finding your true target audience means looking past the language they speak and focusing on the problems you want to help them solve.

Have you received a compliance notice from your US brokerage recently? If you're living in Japan, you’re not alone.

US financial institutions are cracking down on overseas accounts to stay compliant with FATCA, often giving clients as little as 30 to 60 days to move their assets. And a forced liquidation doesn't just mean losing your account. It can trigger sudden capital gains tax liabilities in both the US and Japan.

In our latest GoConnect article, we speak to Argentum Wealth Management アルジェンタム ウェルス マネジメント to break down exactly why the classic "use a relative's US address" trick doesn’t cut it anymore. Not only that, but they offer their advice on what to do if your account is frozen and how expats can stay compliant without losing their investments.

Are you answering the questions your buyers are asking?

Japanese luxury real estate marketing often misses the serious international buyer. They have capital and high intent, but they also have complex questions about 15% withholding taxes, freehold titles and financing without local residency.

If your real estate brand isn't answering these specific questions, you're leaving money on the table. In his latest piece on Japan Luxury Lifestyle, Raynard Yu breaks down how to bridge the information gap and turn overseas browsers into serious buyers.

Forget the myth of the "perfect" student profile. When it comes to international school admissions in Tokyo, it’s not about checking the right boxes. It’s about having a conversation.

In Part Two of our series, we sat down with leaders from 11 more of Tokyo’s top educational institutions. From early-years nurseries and Montessori settings to a highly selective research-driven fellowship, the range of options is vast.

Yet, despite their differences, their overarching message to parents is exactly the same: they want to know who your child is, not just what their grades are. These schools are actively searching for curiosity, independence, kindness and a clear alignment between your family's values and their core ethos.

Ready to find the environment where your child will truly thrive?

Discover what 11 more schools are looking for in part two of our guide in the comments below:
