Hi everyone,

We had another regular meeting this morning. Today, we had one guest, Fillipe-san, first time joining, born Brazil, moved to Canada, try to find a job in Japan. The theme today was "Your holiday plan", and we shared our holiday plan in Golden Week, a log term holiday in May in Japan.

In Today’s discussion, the theme was "Sleep".
TM Shimizu asked how long members sleep at night, and acquired tips to be able to go to seep well from the members.

We had only one prepared speaker, TM Adhi, today. He shared his story he has lost his belongings when he went to Austin in Texas to see a house. He forgot to lock his car and his bag went missing. The bag had a Bluetooth tracker, so he went with the police to look for it. The bag contained all his belongings, but they couldn't find it.
However, he was still relieved that only his bag was stolen, because at least he hadn't encountered the burglar and no one else was hurt. And he had spent the day with his son. The most important thing is to understand that belongings can be replaced but
time, relationship, cannot be replaced There always good response and bad response to bad day.
He concluded with a thought of his profession, program manager, and it was great to incorporate it as a professional.

The table topic master was TM Stephano. He suggested several questions with grades, difficult, medium, and easy. The members selected the difficulties and answered the questions. Actually, a strong supporter for him created the questions, but it is a big known secret in the meeting.

Hi everyone!
We had another successful regular meeting today.

Our theme was "Travel Plans 2026." From the streets of Paris to the precious views of Kyushu and Niigata, we are dreaming big for the year ahead!

Today, we had only one speaker, TM Kashiwagi. His speech title was "Why Dinosaurs Disappeared?" Using scientific evidence, photos, and even a dinosaur model, he delivered a passionate, well-structured presentation. His evaluator, TM Oosuga, was particularly impressed by his fluency and "filler-word-free" delivery.

As Today's Discussion, it was the great debate topic: Do We Still Need Books? In the age of Generative AI, why do we still turn to the written page? Our members shared their habits:
TM Shimizu is a powerhouse reader (10 books a month!), switching between English and Japanese titles.
TM Kashiwagi reminded us that the reliability and physical experience of a book are irreplaceable.
TM Matsuoka kept it real—sometimes manga like One Piece or Kingdom is the perfect way to unwind!

In the Table Topic session, we challenged our brains with tough questions on:
Healthcare: Choosing between innovation vs. basic access.
Growth: Why failure might actually be more valuable than success.
Life: Balancing the fire of passion with the reality of financial stability.
Career: If work-life balance more important than career growth.

Whether you want to improve your English, practice leadership, or just meet interesting people, our doors are always open to guests.
The next meeting will be on April/18th!

Our last Minami Aoyama Business Toastmasters Club meeting was held on March 7th. We were honored to host a stellar lineup of guests, including 2025 World Champion of Public Speaking, Derek Lott, DTM , along with computer science professional Donald Murataj and Yuka Hayashi from Chiyoda TMC.

Word of the Day: Boost

Today’s Discussion: The AI Revolution, led by TM Adhi, we debated the impact of AI on our professional lives:
The Pros: AI acts as a customizable "teacher" , accelerates research and negotiations , and provides rapid, accurate translations. The Cons: We discussed the risks of overconfidence and "laziness" , noting that AI-generated content can sometimes cause us to step back from independent thinking. Safety First: We also touched on the importance of stricter safety protocols in the tech industry.

Prepared Speeches:
TM Shimizu – "Don't Give Up": A moving story about a car accident that taught her a vital life lesson: being strong doesn't mean you have to solve every problem alone.TM Derek Lott – The World Champion reminded us that while we all want to hold the trophy, the act of simply trying and taking the first step is what truly deserves our applause.

Good afternoon everyone!

We had another regular meeting today. We were thrilled to welcome guests Yuko-san and Derek-san to the circle.
Keeping with our theme—"One Word from Your Mother Tongue"—members shared gems like: Nankuru-naisa (Que sera sera), Nure-bukin (A wet cloth), Umami/Umai (The essence of savoriness), and “Even a broken clock is right twice a day”

Our Word of the Day was "Awaken" and we had the big debate: The Impact of AI. How is AI changing our lives? The Pros: From sharpening English skills to streamlining application answers and exam prep, AI is a powerful tool. The Concerns: TM Shimizu as a JP language teacher noted that if students rely on AI from the start, they miss out on the actual learning process. Guest Yuko-san highlighted the importance of "untransferable skills" in a tough job market, while Derek-san emphasized the urgent need for regulation as the job landscape shifts.

Table Topics: Thinking on Our Feet
Our speakers tackled "mystery" prompts with style:
Stefano envisioned a "high-end coffee shop" revolution for his city.
Yuko-san shared her exciting news: she’s headed to the University of Michigan to study Information Design!
Moriwaki-san pitched a brilliant airline CEO strategy: creating social lounges for the first class/business class airline passengers.
Shimizu-san reflected on self-worth and the courage to step into a new professional role.

Huge congratulations to TM Oosuga for completing a powerful freestyle speech...! With masterful body language and expressive facial storytelling, Oosuga-san took us on a journey from workplace frustration to a breakthrough realization: The future doesn't exist yet—we have to draw it ourselves. A single, powerful slide became the catalyst for a shared vision!

Join us next time! Whether you want to polish your English, debate the future of tech, or just find your "Umami," our doors are always open.

We kicked off the year by sharing our big goals. We had 6 guests and 7 members in attendance. The Meeting Theme was "What is the biggest news in this year?" and we shared our exciting new year resolutions.

Today’s discussion, led by TM Maru, was about sending new year cards. We debated: "Do you or do you not send new year cards and why?". Three members simulated the discussion, sharing perspectives ranging from tradition and international customs to the rise of digital mediums like Instagram.

Our prepared speaker, TM Adhi, had the whole room laughing with his hilarious (and relatable!) story about "Going Under" for a medical checkup. It’s proof that you can make any topic engaging with the right skills!.

Our next meeting will be held on Feb 7th. We are waiting for you to join our next regular meeting!

What a fantastic and insightful meeting we had on December 6th! Thank you to TMOD TM Osuga for leading us through a session focused on the theme: "What is the biggest news in this year?".

Discussion on Social Media: Led by TM Adhi, we explored the dual nature of social media—its power to link people and its potential disadvantages, including the spread of online arguments and the difference between online appearances and real life.

Prepared Speech: TM Maru delivered an inspiring speech on "How to motivate yourself," sharing 4 tips for keeping motivations and emphasizing the importance of reading as a switch between action and thinking modes, and the critical role of good sleep for clear decision-making.

Table Topics Fun: TM Sai hosted a fun, holiday-themed Table Topics session. We heard creative answers, including replacing reindeers with fast-running bears (TM Osuga) , recommending the film It's a Wonderful Life (Guest Derek) , and even a new, slim, blue-skirted Santa (TM Ike)!

A special thanks to our guest, Derek Lott, a Toastmaster from Florida, for sharing his global insights!

Save the date for our next meeting on December 20th! We look forward to seeing you there!
