In a city plagued by corruption, skyrocketing prices, and social injustice, who will stand up for the people?
Meet the Ombudsman, a champion of justice!!

This powerful animation, created by young interntaional artists in KISSY2025, tells the story of a city in turmoil. When the heroic Ombudsman, whose job is to correct wrongdoing, is imprisoned by a corrupt regime, the citizens must find the courage to act. Uniting together, they use technology, social media, and the power of their collective voice to challenge authority and fight for a better society.

This film is a moving exploration of themes like civic responsibility, social justice, and the incredible strength a community has when it works together to create change. It shines a light on the important role of an ombudsman in defending the rights of ordinary people.

This work was produced by participants of the "Kansai Intercultural Summer School for Youths (KISSY) 2025," an activity by the NPO PANGEA and supported by the EXPO'70 FUND.

この力強いアニメーションは、KISSY2025に参加した多国籍チームの児童たちの手によって生み出されました。
悪事を正すことを使命とするヒーロー「オンブズマン」が、腐敗した権力によって囚われてしまったとき、市民たちは行動を起こす勇気を見出します。彼らは団結し、テクノロジーやSNS、そして集団の声の力を使い、権力に立ち向かい、より良い社会のために戦います。

この作品は、市民の責任、社会正義、そして変化を生み出すために協力するときのコミュニティの驚くべき強さといったテーマを感動的に探求しています。一般市民の権利を守るオンブズマンの重要な役割に光を当てた物語です。

What happens when you trust an unreliable friend?
And what if that friend is an AI?

Join the "Super kids" on an adventure in this charming stop-motion animation created by intercultural youth!
When faced with a messy classroom, they turn to an AI for a quick solution. However, the AI's bad advice leads to a growing trash monster that threatens their school!

Through this crisis, the children learn a valuable lesson about the importance of critical thinking and not blindly trusting technology. They discover that with the right knowledge and a little teamwork, they can solve big problems.

This film delivers a powerful message about digital literacy in the age of AI and environmental responsibility (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).

This work was produced by youth participants of KISSY2025, Kansai Intercultural Summer School for Youths 2025, at workshop by NPO PANGEA and supported by the EXPO'70 FUND.

KISSY2025 DAY 8
参加者のわたるです。誰がなぜしたのわかりませんが、Facebook担当になっていました。
KISSY2025も今日で終わりです。今回は、一週間にわたってみんなで活動してきましたが、体感時間は1日くらいだったように思います。本当に一瞬でした。

今回は、コロナ後初めて外国の人たちを招いたKISSYで、僕としても初めてのことがたくさんありました。最初はみんな緊張であまり喋れていませんでしたが、日を重ねるごとにどんどん仲良くなって日常に溶け込んでいきました。最後のサークルでは泣いちゃう人もいたりして、泣くほど楽しんでもらえたのなら、僕たちの勝ちです。

ワークショップでは、みんな最後までやれる限りの努力を続けていました。今回のテーマは「平和」でとってもヘビーで子供には扱えないようなものに思いましたが、みんなで議論を何度も何度も重ねて、素晴らしい解決策を見つけることができました。
作業の段階では、みんな自分に与えられた役職を超えて、できることは全てやっていました。作品は、わかりやすく、大きなメッセージ性を含んだ素晴らしいものになりました。

今、世界では多くの戦争があり、分かり合えない人たちがいます。でも、少なくともあの空間の中ではみんながわかり合って、言語の壁や文化の壁、国の壁はとても低いものになっていきました。この輪が世界全体に広がっていくことを願っています。

そして、今回のアクティビティを計画して、僕たちをサポートしてくれたユミさんとトシさん、ファシリテーターの皆さん本当にありがとうございました。また、スリッパ事件など色々迷惑をかけてしまいすいませんでした。

僕はまだ現実に戻れていませんが、楽しい時間はもう終わってしまいました。これからみんな、自分達の家や仕事、学校に、何気ない生活に帰っていくと思います。ちょっと嫌なことがあってもKISSYの楽しかった思い出を糧にして生きましょう。

それじゃあみんな、またどこかで会いましょう！

This is Wataru, and I’m one of the youth participants of KISSY2025. I’m not sure who decided it or why, but I’ve been chosen to write the final-day message.
KISSY2025 comes to an end today. We worked together for a week, but it felt like only a day—it really flew by.

This was the first KISSY after the COVID-19 pandemic where we welcomed participants from overseas, so many things were new to me. At first, everyone was nervous and not talking much, but as the days went by, we grew closer and eventually blended into everyday life together. During the final circle time, some participants even cried. If they enjoyed it so much that it brought them to tears, then I think we’ve truly succeeded.

In the workshop, everyone kept giving their best until the very end. The theme this time was “peace,” which at first seemed like a heavy topic that might be too much for children to handle. But through many discussions, we were able to find an excellent solution.
During the working phase, everyone went beyond their assigned roles and did everything they could. The final piece was clear and carried a powerful message.

There are many wars in the world today, and there are people who cannot understand each other. But at least in that space, we all understood one another, and the barriers of language, culture, and nationality grew very small. I hope this circle will spread across the world.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Yumi, Toshi, and all the facilitators, who planned this activity and supported us. I’m also sorry for the trouble I caused with the “slipper incident” and other things.

I’m still not quite back to reality, but the fun time has already ended. From now on, we will all return to our homes, jobs, schools, and everyday lives. Even if something unpleasant happens, let’s carry the happy memories of KISSY with us and keep moving forward.

Well then—see you all again somewhere!

KISSY2025 DAY 7
Today was finally the day of the final presentation. The two teams presented the movies they had created over the past five days.

One team focused on the ombudsman system, examining the root causes of various issues around the world and how to resolve them.
The other team discussed how to interact with AI, which is a convenient tool but also flooded with misinformation, while also touching on environmental issues.
Both teams put a lot of thought into their presentations, using sound effects and animations that they created themselves, and beautifully expressed the conclusions they had reached together despite differences in language and culture.
Additionally, participants Sen, Wataru, and Yuzuru from Japan presented the achievements of their “My Project”, an individual research project.

After presenting the results of their hard work, it was time for the talent show!
Each participant showcased unexpected talents -- singing, dancing, and acting – and everyone had great fun together. (This year, we were lucky to hear Toshi's piano playing, so perhaps next year we might see a jam session with youth participants...!?)
While the activity room the previous night had a serious atmosphere preparing for the final preparations, this night it was filled with smiles and laughter.

Since this was the first KISSY in a while to welcome participants from overseas, both participants and facilitators may have felt some anxiety before it began, but this year's presentations also concluded successfully.
Other than the variety of languages spoken in the venue, the sight of everyone working hard together to create better works felt no different from the past few years when all participants were from within Japan.
On the other hand, having been involved as a facilitator since before the pandemic, I also noticed some changes. Children who were once participants are now supporting youth participants as facilitators or team leaders, or contributing to the improvement of the Gengorou (multilingual discussion tool) they once used...
They are becoming pillars of the activity and actively embodying the Pangaea’s philosophy in various ways. Through this KISSY, I strongly felt that the cumulative efforts of Yumi, Toshi, and many others who share their vision are steadily taking shape.

今日はいよいよ最終プレゼンテーションの日。２つのチームがこの５日間で作り上げた動画をそれぞれ発表しました。

各地で起こる様々な問題の根本は何か、それをどのように解決すべきかについてオンブズマン制度に着目したチーム。
便利なツールではあるものの、誤った情報なども溢れるAIとの付き合い方について環境問題にも触れながら議論したチーム。
どちらのチームも各自で録音した効果音やアニメーションなど工夫を凝らしつつ、言葉や文化が違うなか皆で考えた結論を素晴らしい作品で表現していました。
そして、日本から参加した、せん、わたる、ゆづるは、各自が興味のあるテーマを探求したMy projectでの成果を発表してくれました。

この数日間の努力の成果を発表した後は、お楽しみのタレントショーです。
それぞれが歌やダンス、演技など、意外な特技を披露し大いに盛り上がりました。（今年は貴重なトシさんのピアノが聴けたので、来年は参加者とのセッションが見られるかも…！？）
前日夜のアクティビティルームは最終調整のため引き締まった雰囲気でしたが、この日は笑顔と笑い声で賑やかな夜でした。

久しぶりに海外からの参加者を迎えたKISSYということで、参加者もファシリテーターも始まる前は少なからず不安があったと思いますが、今年も無事に発表が終了しました。
様々な言語が飛び交う以外、協力しつつよりよい作品にしようと全員で奮闘する姿は、国内の参加者のみだったこの数年と何も変わらないように感じます。
一方で、コロナ禍以前からファシリテーターとして関わってきて変化を感じた部分もあります。かつて参加者だった子どもたちが、ファシリテーターやチームリーダーとして参加者のサポートをしたり、使う側だったゲンゴロウ（多言語ディスカッションツール）の改良に携わっていたり…
彼らが活動の支えになりつつ、様々な方法で率先してパンゲアの理念を体現している。これまでのゆみさんやトシさん、彼らに共感する多くの人たちの活動の積み重ねが形になってきていることを、今回のKISSYで強く感じられました。

KISSY2025 DAY 6
Participating in NPO Pangaea’s programs has been an inspiring and enriching experience, both for me as a teacher and for my students. In KISSY2025, Pangaea creates a unique space where people from different countries and cultures meet, share their traditions, and learn from one another in a spirit of respect and curiosity.

Their activities are wonderfully diverse - from intercultural exchange workshops and language practice to creative projects and teamwork challenges. I have seen students grow more confident in expressing themselves, more open to different perspectives, and more aware of global issues.

Every day I spend here in Japan with the amazing KISSY members, I see how the kids bond with each other. Day by day, they overcome language barriers and find unique ways to communicate. Today, I heard many Georgian and Swahili phrases from Japanese kids, and I also heard Georgian and Kenyan kids using Japanese phrases to cheer on their teammates while recording sounds for their video.

What makes Pangaea truly special is the warmth and dedication of its team. They create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, valued, and motivated to contribute. Through these programs, participants don’t just gain skills — they build friendships and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Now everyone is getting ready for dinner, and afterward we will enjoy working together once more. As KISSY2025 comes to an end, we are trying to spend as much time together as possible and make the most of the last couple of days. I am looking forward to tomorrow’s presentation day - one more chance to celebrate everything we have learned and created together.

NPO法人パンゲアのプログラムに参加することは、教師としての私にとっても、生徒たちにとっても、刺激的で実り多い経験となっています。KISSY2025において、パンゲアは異なる国や文化の人々が出会い、それぞれの伝統を共有し、敬意と好奇心を持ってお互いから学び合うことができる特別な空間を創り出しています。
活動内容は実に多様で、異文化交流ワークショップや言語練習から、創造的なプロジェクトやチームワーク・チャレンジまで多岐にわたります。生徒たちが自己表現に自信を持ち、異なる視点に対してより開かれた姿勢を示し、グローバルな課題への意識を高めていく様子を目の当たりにしてきました。
素晴らしいKISSYメンバーと共に日本で過ごす毎日、子どもたちがお互いに絆を深めていく様子を見ています。日を追うごとに、彼らは言語の壁を乗り越え、コミュニケーションのための独自の方法を見つけています。今日は、日本の子どもたちがジョージア語やスワヒリ語のフレーズを口にし、ジョージアやケニアの子どもたちがビデオ用の音声収録中にチームメイトを応援するために日本語のフレーズを使っているのを聞きました。
パンゲアを真に特別なものにしているのは、チームの温かさと献身的な姿勢です。彼らは誰もが歓迎され、大切にされ、貢献したいと感じられる雰囲気を作り出しています。これらのプログラムを通じて、参加者たちは単にスキルを身につけるだけでなく、友情を築き、周りの世界についてより深い理解を得ています。
今、みんなが夕食の準備をしていて、その後もう一度一緒に活動を楽しむ予定です。KISSY2025が終わりに近づく中、私たちはできるだけ多くの時間を一緒に過ごし、残りわずかな日々を最大限に活用しようとしています。明日のプレゼンテーションの日を楽しみにしています — 私たちが共に学び、創り上げてきたすべてを祝う、もう一つの機会となるでしょう。（筆者 Mari）

KISSY2025 DAY 5
Today we took a break from the ongoing workshop activities and enjoyed the field trip in Nara and refreshed ourselves.
Early in the morning, we visited Todai-ji Temple to watch the annual cleaning of the Great Buddha, then visited the Nara National Museum, and strolled around Naramachi, where the old townscape remains.

This was my first day and first time to participate in KISSY, and I had the opportunity to interact with participants from Kenya and Georgia, which was a valuable experience for me.
In particular, I had a wonderful time with Phoebe from Kenya, learning a lot about her country and visiting the museum together.

Since it was the fifth day, I could sense that the children had developed strong bonds and teamwork among themselves.

Tomorrow we will begin the final push toward the presentation.
I am excited to see how the children's hard work and bonds they have built will come together!

KISSY2025は5日目を迎えました。
本日は、これまで続いてきたワークショップ活動を一旦お休みし、奈良でフィールドトリップを楽しみながら、心と体をリフレッシュする一日となりました。
早朝から東大寺で年に一度の大仏のお身拭いを見物したあと、奈良国立博物館を見学し、そして古い町並みの残る「ならまち」を散策しました。

私は今日から初めての参加でしたが、ケニアやジョージアから来られた参加者の皆さんと交流することができ、とても貴重な経験となりました。
中でも、ケニア出身のPhoebeさんとは、ケニアについてさまざまなお話を聞かせていただいたり、一緒に博物館を見学したりと、楽しく充実した時間を過ごすことができました。

また、5日目ということもあり、子どもたちの間にはしっかりとした関係性やチームワークが築かれているのを感じました。

そしていよいよ、明日からはプレゼンテーションに向けたラストスパートが始まります。
これまで子どもたちが積み重ねてきた努力と絆が、どのような成果として表れるのか、今からとても楽しみです。

KISSY2025 DAY 4
It’s already Day 4 of KISSY.
Today, the participants split into two teams and began producing videos based on the stories they had discussed up to yesterday.

They had decided on the stories—but once they actually started drawing and creating, questions began to arise:
“Wait, how were we going to handle this part again?”
“How do we visually express this story?”
“Maybe we should change the story a little?”
“What about this new idea instead?”
“How does this story end, anyway?”
“Can we finish making the video on time?”
“Do we need to cut some scenes?”

The once-settled ideas began to scatter again. Of course, while the KISSY tools help, the language barrier still exists among participants from Japan, Kenya and Georgia.

Under the broad theme of peace, one team is working on a video about the ombudsman system to improve national politics, while the other is tackling the topic of how AI should be utilized.

Tomorrow is a field trip, so there’s only one more workday left.
We’re all excited to see what kind of final products the teams will create!

KISSYも4日目となりました。

今日は2つのチームに分かれて昨日までにストーリーを話し合った動画の制作を開始。

ストーリーは決めたはず、それでも実際に手を動かして絵を描き始めると、
あれっ、ここはどうするんだっけ？
このストーリーを視覚的にどう表現するの？
やっぱり少しストーリーを変えたほうがいいんじゃない？
別のこんなアイデアはどう？、
結局、この話って最後はどう終わるんだっけ？
動画制作の作業は間に合うのかな？
場面を減らす必要があるのでは？

と、まとまっていたと思った話が再度、拡散してゆきます。もちろんケニヤやジョージアの参加者とはKISSYツールに助けられているとはいえ、言葉の壁もあります。

平和という大きなテーマの下、一つのチームは国の政治をより良いものにするためのオンブズマン制度について、そしてもう一つのチームはAIをどう活用してゆくべきかについての動画を制作しようとしています。

明日はフィールドトリップなので作業日は残りあと1日。
どんな作品が完成するのか、乞うご期待！

KISSY2025 DAY 3
It's the third day of KISSY 2025 and it's only getting better. I am Phoebe Awiti, a senior curator at the National Museums of Kenya. I am here in Japan with a student from Kenya under the invitation of NPO Pangaea.

Today we had a busy day at the workshop discussing the very important topic of peace. only taking a quick break to enjoy okonomiyaki. We crowned the day by taking a walk in the Nara park to watch the Nara Toukae (lantern festival). What a day where culture, history and the present comes together.

All these has been made possible by the support of the Expo’70 Commemorative Fund. We are very grateful to be here.

今日で3日目を迎えたKISSY2025ですが、ますます良くなってきています。私はPhoebe Awitiです。ケニア国立博物館でシニア・キュレーターを務めています。NPOパンゲアの招聘を受け、ケニアの児童とともに来日しました。

今日は忙しい一日で、ワークショップでは平和というとても重要なトピックについて話し合いました。お昼に少しだけ休憩し、お好み焼きを食べることができました。そして一日の締めくくりに、奈良公園を散策し燈花会（とうかえ）を見学しました。文化と歴史と現在を一度に体験できた素晴らしい日でした。

KISSY2025 DAY 2
Day 2 has begun! From today, our workshop activity base has moved to the venue near the historic Heijo Palace Site. The participants have started their activities in teams at the workshop, working towards their final presentations in five days.

This year’s theme is “Our Story”. We think about peace together and create a story that we want to tell the world. Today was a brainstorming day, with everyone sharing their ideas to create their team's story.
We are also excited to be using the newly rebuilt KISSY Tool for the first time in six years! With the help of "Gengoro," the translation system built into the KISSY Tool, we were able to overcome language barriers and communicate smoothly.

Now everyone is really into Toshi's ICT & AI lecture. We also enjoyed the night view from the rooftop of our hotel. Unfortunately, the stars were hidden behind the clouds. We will save the starry sky for another night.

KISSY2025、2日目が始まりました！今日から活動の拠点を平城宮跡の近くの施設に移しました。
5日後の最終発表に向けて、今日からいよいよチームでの活動が本格的にスタートしました。

今年のテーマは”Our Story”。平和について考え、世界に伝えたいストーリーをみんなで作り上げます。今日は、それぞれのチームで意見を出し合い、発表の核となるストーリーを決めました。
また、6年ぶりに再構築したKISSY Toolも本格的に活用を開始！KISSY Toolに搭載されている翻訳システム「げんごろう」にも助けてもらいながら、言語の壁を越えて活発なコミュニケーションが生まれています。

そして今は、昨日から延期となっていたToshiによるICT & AIのレクチャーをみんな夢中で聞いています。夜には宿泊施設の屋上から夜景を眺めました。残念ながら雲が多く、星空はまたの機会にお預けです。 （筆者　まーくん）
