Kofu Toastmasters Meeting #171 Report

On Saturday, August 8th, Kofu Toastmasters held its 171st meeting at 2:00 PM.

⭐Role Takers
Toastmaster of the Day: Y.A. // Word Master: T.K. // Grammarian: S.N. // Timer: F.A.

⭐Special Education Session: S.N.
S.N. used a speech he had previously delivered in a contest to give us a valuable lesson on speech structure and effective public speaking. He explained how to organize a speech and shared practical tips on how to deliver a speech with confidence and impact.

Members who joined the club after the original contest speech was delivered also shared positive feedback, saying that they found the session very useful and learned a lot from it.

⭐Table Topics: H.S.
Theme: “Summer Memories”
Although this was H.S.’s first time serving as Table Topics Master, he conducted the session in a very interactive and engaging way. He successfully encouraged members to participate and created a lively atmosphere throughout the session.

⭐The Word of the Day, “absolutely,” was used effectively during the meeting, giving members a good opportunity to practice and incorporate a new expression into their speeches.

☘Although we had fewer participants than usual because the meeting coincided with the Obon holiday season and summer vacations, it was a very informative and rewarding meeting with many opportunities to learn.

Our new Area Director, Michel Payment, kindly attended our meeting despite the early hour on the local time. He thoroughly enjoyed the meeting.

Kofu Toastmasters Summer Meeting Report　( #169)

On Saturday, July 11, at 2:00 p.m., the Kofu Toastmasters Summer Meeting was held at the Yamanashi Community Center. A total of 11 people attended,
including two guests from other Toastmasters clubs.
The meeting began with a recognition of members who had completed Pathways Level 1, followed by the introduction of our new club officers.
Next, we enjoyed two prepared speeches. The first was an Ice Breaker speech by one of our newest members, who joined the club this term. Centered on the theme of curiosity, the speech inspired us to embrace the spirit of trying new things.
The second speaker was our club’s only native English speaker. Drawing on personal experiences of living in Japan, the speech offered unique insights and was both engaging and thought-provoking.
During the Table Topics session, all of the topics were carefully selected to encourage lively discussion. In particular, the topic of childhood summer memories brought back a sense of nostalgia and prompted enthusiastic participation from everyone.
At the end of the meeting, we made an impromptu request for our native speaker to give a short talk on improving communication skills. Despite having no advance notice, the speaker delivered an insightful and content-rich presentation that everyone agreed was
highly valuable.
Our club offers a warm and friendly atmosphere while providing an excellent opportunity to improve English communication skills. We would be delighted to welcome visitors to observe one of our meetings and experience the club for themselves.
Our next report will introduce the 1st Autumn Meeting, which will be held on the second Saturday of September. We have also created a new club flyer, which we hope you will find
helpful in learning more about Kofu Toastmasters.

7月１１日（土）午後２時より、やまなし地域づくりコミュニティセンターで、甲府トーストマスターズ Summer Meeting が開催されました。他クラブからのゲスト２名を加えて１１名の参加者です。Level 1 修了者の披露の後に新役員の紹介を行いました。その後２名の
トーストマスターのスピーチが行われました。今季より入会となった方の Icebreaker’s speech。好奇心がテーマとなったこのスピーチは我々に何か新しいことに挑む気持ちを植え付けてくれたように思います。２番手は我がクラブの唯一のNative Speakerの登場です。日本での暮らしから得た貴重な体験は聞きごたえのある内容でした。
その後の Table Topic Sessionではどのテーマも話題になりやすいものばかりを厳選してくれたおかげで、夏の幼少の頃の思い出には皆がなつかしさを感じたのだろうと思います。
最後に突然のお願いではありましたが、Native に「コミュニケーションスキルの向上について」即興で話をしてもらいました。突然の申し出ではありましたが、非常に中身の濃い話を聞けたと皆
が口を揃えて語っていました。
このような和気あいあいとしながらも、英語のコミュニケーションスキルの向上には大いに役にたつ我がクラブにぜひ見学にお越しいただければ幸いです。

Kofu Toastmasters Meeting #168 Report

On Saturday, June 27, Kofu Toastmasters held its 168th meeting at 7:30 PM. Eight members participated in the meeting.

Before we began, we talked about the earthquake that had occurred the previous day. We shared our surprise and concern for one another, and we were all relieved that everyone was safe.

We enjoyed two prepared speeches by TM KT and TM SI, each offering valuable insights and inspiring us in different ways.

During the Table Topics Session, TM MH asked thought-provoking questions about summer and disaster preparedness. It was hard to believe this was MH's first time serving as Table Topics Master, as the session was conducted with confidence and poise. Thank you, TM MH, for leading such a timely and engaging session!

The evaluations were delivered by TM RA and TM SN. As always, they provided thoughtful and constructive feedback that was beneficial not only to the speakers but also to all of us.

The Word of the Day was "Enthusiastic," introduced by TM MF. It was a wonderful choice that reflected the excitement of the FIFA World Cup and brought that same energy into our meeting.

As Grammarian, TM YA once again shared insightful feedback from a unique perspective. By using examples from his own speech and asking a question throughout it, YA made the learning experience both engaging and enjoyable.

Timer was also serving as the Toastmaster of the Evening this time, so there were a few brief pauses during the meeting. Thank you for your understanding.

We also appreciate everyone for preparing early and helping the meeting run smoothly.

Thanks to everyone's participation, the meeting was once again enjoyable and full of learning opportunities.

Kofu Toastmasters Meeting #167 Report

On Saturday, June 13th at 2:00 PM, Kofu Toastmasters held its 167th meeting.

This time, we welcomed one guest and held an online Zoom meeting with 10 participants.

The meeting began with the Officer Installation Ceremony. We would like to congratulate our new officers and wish them a successful and rewarding term starting in July.

We enjoyed one prepared speech during the meeting. TM FA shared gratitude for serving as Vice President Education (VPE) and encouraged all members to continue giving speeches and developing their communication skills.

During the Table Topics Session, TM SN asked questions about our routines, including morning routines, weekly routines, monthly habits, and even seasonal and yearly routines. The questions reflected each participant's interests and inspired many enjoyable and engaging responses. Thank you, TM SN, for such a fun Table Topics Session.

The evaluation was delivered by TM MH. It was hard to believe that this was her first evaluation speech. Her feedback was insightful, constructive, and highly beneficial to the speaker.

During this meeting, TM RK took on both the Officer Installation Ceremony and Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) roles. Thank you for guiding the meeting so smoothly and for always supporting our club with thoughtfulness and dedication.

The Word of the Day was “fellowship,” introduced by TM YA. It was a perfect choice for a Toastmasters meeting, and many participants used it effectively in their speeches.

As Grammarian, TM TK served in the role for the first time. However, you would never have guessed it from the quality of the report. The feedback was informative, detailed, and full of valuable observations.

TM SI served as Timer and carried out the role accurately and efficiently.

As Ah-Counter, TM HS also took on the role for the first time. While carefully listening to each speaker, he diligently counted filler words and provided a thorough report.

Because each member put sincere effort into fulfilling their role, the meeting was both smooth and meaningful. Thanks to everyone's participation, the meeting was once again enjoyable and full of learning opportunities.

Kofu Toastmasters Meeting #166 Report

On Saturday, May 23rd at 7:30 PM, Kofu Toastmasters held its 166th meeting.

This time, we had an online Zoom meeting with 10 participants.

We enjoyed two speeches during the meeting.
TM HM delivered an impressive Ice Breaker Speech that was hard to believe was his first. The speech was calm, confident, and well delivered.
We also welcomed TM FA back for a speech after quite some time.

During the Table Topics Session, TM RK prepared questions to help us get to know each other better.
Six participants gave impromptu speeches about their hobbies, favorite places, new things they have started recently, childhood dreams, favorite foods, and what they usually do on weekends. It was a fun session, and we enjoyed learning things about each other that we would not normally have the chance to hear.

The evaluations were delivered by TM SN and TM SI.
Their feedback was encouraging and supportive for the speakers.

The Word of the Day was “incredible,” introduced by TM MH.
Many participants used it effectively in their speeches.

As Grammarian, TM RA highlighted many excellent expressions used throughout the meeting.

TM TK served as Timer for the first time and did an excellent job managing the role smoothly and accurately.

As Ah-Counter, TM YK listened carefully to everyone’s speeches and provided a detailed report.

Thanks to everyone’s participation, the meeting was once again enjoyable and full of learning opportunities.

On Saturday, May 9th at 2:00 PM, Kofu Toastmasters held its 165th meeting on Zoom.

We also had a special induction ceremony to welcome our new members. We are very happy to have you with us and look forward to growing together through communication and leadership.

Today’s meeting was full of learning and inspiration. We enjoyed three prepared speeches covering a wide variety of topics, including practical ethics and morning resolutions, DX in education, and rehabilitation safety technology.

Although it was her first time serving as Toastmaster of the Day, TM SI facilitated the meeting wonderfully and helped create a warm and smooth atmosphere throughout the meeting.

The Word of the Day was “considerate,” which reminded us of the importance of being thoughtful and supportive toward others during the meeting.

In the Table Topics session, members shared how they spent Golden Week, and we enjoyed hearing many fun and fulfilling stories and experiences.

A big thank you to all role-takers, speakers, evaluators and members for making today’s meeting meaningful and enjoyable.

We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!

Kofu Toastmasters Meeting #163 Report

On Saturday, April 11th at 2:00 PM, Kofu Toastmasters held its 163rd meeting.

This time, we had an in-person meeting in Kofu. In addition to eight members, we welcomed three guests and one Toastmasters guest, making a total of 12 participants.

We enjoyed three excellent speeches:
TM TK delivered a truly memorable Ice Breaker Speech that was hard to believe was her first.
TM TT gave a thought-provoking speech on leadership.
TM SN presented a timely and informative speech on digital transformation (DX) in the educational field.

All of the speeches were inspiring, educational, and encouraged us to reflect on the topics in relation to our own lives. Since we usually meet on Zoom, having the opportunity to experience speeches face-to-face was especially valuable.

During the Table Topics Session, TM YA prepared contest-style questions.
Five participants, mainly guests, took part in the impromptu speeches. It was very enjoyable to hear their wonderful experiences and ideas. Thank you all for your active participation!

The evaluations were delivered by TM RK, TM YK, and TM SI.
Each evaluator accurately captured the essence of the speeches, highlighting strengths and offering constructive feedback for improvement. Their evaluations were insightful and beneficial for everyone.

The Word of the Day was “vibrant,” introduced by TM KT.
Many participants incorporated it effectively into their speeches.

As Grammarian, TM SN provided a very precise report on grammar usage.
He also introduced the Best Impressive Phrase of the day:
“Please think about what you can learn before you say no.”

Thanks to everyone’s participation, the meeting was engaging and enjoyable.

Kofu Toastmasters Meeting #162 Report

On Saturday, March 28th at 7:30 PM, Kofu Toastmasters held its 162nd meeting.

In addition to five members, we were joined by five Toastmasters guests from clubs in the same area, making it a lively meeting with ten participants. Thank you all for your support!

We had one prepared speech by TM SI, titled “Two Olympics.”
It was a thought-provoking and inspiring speech, filled with beautiful expressions and a great attempt at vocal variety.
The evaluation was delivered by TM YA, who provided insightful and encouraging feedback.

The Word of the Day was “exquisite,” introduced by TM MF.
Although it was a challenging word, many participants incorporated it skillfully into their speeches.

During Table Topics, our guests shared their ideas on themes such as festivals, childhood memories, starting something new, favorite “oshi,” cherry blossom viewing, and travel styles.
We were truly impressed by the high level of impromptu speaking and storytelling!

For the Enjoyable Talk Session, facilitated by TM SN, all participants joined in a group activity.
We divided into three groups and spoke on the topic:
“What I Learned from My Daily Experiences.”
Each group selected one speaker and one evaluator to present in front of everyone.

TM SN also played multiple roles as TMOE, facilitator of the Enjoyable Talk Session, and Grammarian, contributing greatly to the success of the meeting.

It was a highly interactive and engaging meeting, and we learned so much from our guests.
