IEEE R10 Women in Engineering (WIE) provides members with the opportunity to network at a local lev

IEEE WIE strives to:
*recognize women's outstanding achievements in electrical and electronics engineering through IEEE Awards nominations;
*organize receptions at major technical conferences to enhance networking and to promote membership in WIE;
*advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession;
*provide assistance with the formation of new WIE Affinity Groups and support ongoing activities;
*promote IEEE member grade advancement for women to the membership grades of Senior Member and Fellow;
*facilitate the development of programs and activities that promote the entry into and retention of women in engineering programs;
*administer the IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in junior and high schools.

✨ Celebrating Women in Engineering at TENSYMP 2026! ✨

The IEEE Region 10 Women in Engineering (WIE) Committee, in collaboration with WIE Malaysia and the IEEE Region 10 Student Activities Committee (R10 SAC), hosted a special WIE session at TENSYMP 2026 in Penang, Malaysia. 🇲🇾💙

The session began with inspiring insights from the IEEE Region 10 Director, who shared her perspective and experiences as a WIE member, setting the stage for an engaging and meaningful celebration of women in engineering.

The program continued with an insightful panel discussion exploring the diverse WIE journeys of several members. The panelists shared their experiences, challenges, and the ways they navigated and overcame obstacles throughout their journeys, offering valuable perspectives and inspiration to everyone present.

The session also featured a knowledge-sharing segment, where the R10 SAC presented their activities and shared insights from the committee. The celebrations were further enhanced by a joyful cake-cutting ceremony to commemorate WIE Day. 🎂🎉

A dedicated WIE booth was also set up to showcase WIE activities, events, and opportunities, while providing information for those interested in joining the WIE community.

A memorable session filled with inspiration, connection, knowledge sharing, and glamour—bringing the WIE community together to empower and inspire the next generation of women engineers.

✨ IEEE Beijing Section WIE International Leadership Summit (ILS) 2026 ✨

IEEE Region 10 Women in Engineering Committee Chair (North Asia and Pacific), Prof. Pauline Kawamoto joined the IEEE Beijing Section WIE International Leadership Summit (ILS) 2026, held on 13 June 2026 at the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center, Beijing.

Co-hosted by the IEEE Beijing Section Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, IEEE Beijing Office, IEEE China Council, and the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI), the summit marked the second time the IEEE Beijing Section WIE AG was selected by IEEE Women in Engineering to host this prestigious global event.

The summit featured inspiring welcome addresses from IEEE leaders, followed by insightful keynote presentations from distinguished experts in academia and industry. Centered around the theme "Embodied Innovation – Her Vision for Tomorrow," the discussions highlighted the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and robotics, celebrated the contributions of women in engineering, and encouraged young professionals and students to embrace opportunities in shaping the future of technology.

The engaging discussions continued beyond the formal sessions, with students and industry representatives connecting with speakers to explore emerging technologies and career pathways.

A special highlight was the guided tour of the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI) demonstration area, where participants experienced cutting-edge AI and robotics innovations across sports, smart living, healthcare, and human-centered intelligent agents.

Events like the IEEE WIE International Leadership Summit continue to inspire collaboration, innovation, and leadership, empowering the next generation of engineers to create technology for humanity.
