KALAKASAN Migrant Women Empowerment Center

KALAKASAN Migrant Women Empowerment Center A non-governmental organization dedicated to the empowerment of migrant women and their children.

We support women struggling to resolve various difficulties while in Japan. We support women struggling to resolve various difficulties they face such as being caught in abusive relationships, starting life again with their children after fleeing from such relationships, legalizing visa status, and addressing problems related to child recognition, rearing and education while in Japan.

We support bi-cultural children in unstable home environments, particularly those who have seen their mothers being battered or who themselves have been abused. Goal: Creating a space where children in similar circumstances can meet and sustain each other while trying to understand and appreciate their bi-cultural identities and recover their confidence and strength.

✨ Kalakasan Day – March 14, 2026 ✨

Today’s Kalakasan Day event at Kashimada Catholic Church was successfully held and became a meaningful and educational gathering for everyone who joined. 💜

We were honored by the presence of Mr. Kazuya Nakamura, who together with Ms. Armela, shared their inspiring stories of strength, resilience, and hope. Their testimonies reminded us of the courage and determination within our diverse communities.

Thank you to everyone who actively participated in the “Break the Chain” dance as part of the One Billion Rising campaign. Dancing together was a powerful way to show unity and our shared stand against violence affecting people of any race, gender, or age.

In the afternoon forum, we sincerely thank Ms. Motoko Yamagishi for her educational presentation on the amendments and tightening of immigration policies in Japan. Her presentation helped participants better understand the current policy changes affecting migrant communities.

We also appreciate everyone who took part in the discussion by sharing their reactions, comments, and thoughtful insights. Your voices and perspectives made the conversation more meaningful.

Thank you to all participants, organizers, and supporters who made this event possible. Together, we continue to work toward a peaceful, respectful, and inclusive multicultural society in Japan.
