Sonoe Sasaki of the Tokyo Speedball Club passed away in the early hours of March 1, 2026. She was 61 years old. Her sons are Japan National Speedball Team's Yuta Susaki and his younger brother, Haruya Susaki who competed internationally, Japanese national champion(Men's Doubles).
Ms. Sonoe Sasaki resided in Shinagawa, Tokyo. She began learning speedball at the “Seven Sports Club Ota Market” speedball class located at Ota Market, and went on to compete as a member of that team and later as a competitive athlete for the Tokyo Speedball Club.
Ms. Susaki participated in competitive activities as a central figure among the female players at Seven Sports Ota Market and the Tokyo Speedball Club, achieving notable accomplishments in numerous tournaments. She had been undergoing medical treatment for an illness since last year, but her condition deteriorated, leading to her sudden passing. Our association respectfully announces this news. We express our heartfelt gratitude for her outstanding achievements during her lifetime and her dedicated efforts to promote speedball, and we pray for the repose of her soul.
