Monday 15 June marked the start of the long awaited, week-long Habitat for Humanity trip in Siem Reap for ten Grade 10 and 11 students, accompanied by Ms. Cooney and Mr. Crespy.

Before beginning construction, the Habitat Team had the opportunity to meet the family for whom they would be building a home: a widow and her six children who have faced significant hardships. Despite the challenges she has endured, the future new homeowner worked alongside the team throughout the day as they began building the home that will provide a brighter future for her family.

This June, 10 Saint Maur students will travel to Siem Reap, Cambodia with Habitat for Humanity.

Working alongside local communities, they will help build a home for a family in need, supporting access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

If you would like to support this meaningful project, donations can be made via the school website. All contributions go directly to the build, with none used to fund the students’ travel.

The Elementary School Student Council had a very successful campaign supporting the KSPCA animal shelter. With the school community's support, they collected 246 towels & blankets and 53,589 yen in donations. Each Tuesday we go out to Kannai to meet our Friends in Need. We don't just give out sandwiches, we also show up each week to tell them that they matter, that we care and that we are all part of a community. Thanks to the generous donations of cup noodles from the Boutard family, we were able to give our Friends in Need something that they don't alway get; a choice! Our students used their Japanese to help each Friend choose which cup noodle they wanted to take home; chicken, spicy or beef. It was such a joy for many of them to have choice and an opportunity to tell us their favourite ones. It seem like a little thing perhaps but for those living in difficult situations, choice is a privilege.

Although the season of giving has ended, our hearts are still full. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our parents, we are heading into the New Year with happy bags still ready for distribution next week.
