The Japan Kobudo Enbu Taikai was held at the Meiji Jingu shrine in Tokyo yesterday. Last year the event was closed to the general public due to ongoing Covid restrictions. This year was business as usual, with 59 schools from across Japan participating. Due to a sharp rise in tourism, the number of spectators was surprisingly higher than usual. Broadcasters from international media filmed and interviewed participants. Overall a great day with great weather.

The Yagyu Shingan Ryu Taijutsu Hombu Dojo relocated from Tokyo to Kamakura during the Meiji period. The site of the original dojo is only about 15 minutes from my home in Kamakura, so today I visited the monument to pay my respects. In addition, I have included a photo of headmaster, Hoshino Tenchi with his disciples, which was taken at the Kamakura Sasame dojo in the 37th year of Meiji (1904).
