この度、わたくし達の訪問を快く受け入れてくださり、また、丁寧な説明をしていただきありがとうございました。
学生たちも興味津々で話を聞いていました。
また、いただいたシャツも、帰国の際にほとんどの学生が着ていました。
ありがとうございました。

Thank you so much for welcoming us so warmly and for taking the time to give us such a detailed explanation.
The students were very interested and listened attentively throughout the visit.
They also loved the shirts you gave us, and most of the students wore them on their way home to Japan.

Thank you again for your kindness and hospitality. We truly appreciate everything you did for us.

長いようで短かった13日間、無事にいちき串木野市に帰って来て研修を終えました。

長いフライトではありましたが、派遣生は疲れた顔も見せず、笑顔で帰国。充実感に溢れたその表情は出発の時よりも頼もしく感じました。

サリナス市での経験が今後の糧になる事を祈っています。

サリナス市、サリナス姉妹都市協会、日本航空さん、そしてこのプロジェクトにご賛同いただくすべての皆様に感謝します。

ありがとうございました。

Tuesday, August 18

After 13 days that seemed both long and short, we safely returned to Ichikikushikino City and completed our exchange program.

Although it was a long flight home, the student ambassadors returned with smiles on their faces, showing no signs of fatigue. The confident and fulfilled expressions on their faces made them look even more mature and dependable than when they left Japan.

We sincerely hope that all the experiences they had in Salinas will become a valuable part of their lives and help shape their future.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the City of Salinas, the Salinas Sister Cities Association, Japan Airlines, and everyone who supported and believed in this project.

We believe they will come back to Salinas near future.
Thank you very much for everything.

いよいよサリナス出発の日
お世話になったホストファミリーとしばしお別れ。思い思いの言葉をかけバスに乗り込みました。
お世話になったみなさんに感謝いたします。
ありがとうございます。

これからいよいよ日本に戻ります。

August 17 (Monday)

Today is finally the day we leave Salinas.

It was time to say goodbye to our wonderful host families. Each student shared their heartfelt words of gratitude before boarding the bus.

We would like to sincerely thank all of our host families and everyone who took such great care of us during our stay.

Thank you so much for everything. We will never forget the wonderful memories we made in Salinas.

Now, our journey home to Japan begins.
See you again, Salinas! 🇺🇸❤️🇯🇵

サリナス滞在最終日です。

初めは緊張していた面持ちもどこへやら。
今ではもう家族の一員として皆常にホストファミリーの中心にいます。
各家庭のあたたかさに触れた日曜日は仕上げのアクティビティ、【ホストファミリーと最高に1日を過ごす】でした。
各家庭の素敵なプランに、派遣生たちも自然と笑顔で過ごしていました。

明日は、早朝サリナスを離れます。
寝るのも惜しくなりますが、また会える事を願いながら朝を迎えます。

August 16, Sunday

It was our final day in Salinas.

The nervous expressions we saw when the students first arrived are now long gone. They have truly become part of their host families, naturally finding their place at the heart of each family.

On this final Sunday, the students enjoyed our last activity: “Spending the Best Day Ever with Our Host Families.” Each family planned a wonderful day filled with special experiences, and the students spent the day with genuine smiles, making memories they will cherish forever.

Tomorrow, we will leave Salinas early in the morning.

We wish we could stay just a little longer, but it is time to say goodbye. As we hope and look forward to seeing everyone again someday, we will make the most of our final night and welcome the morning together.

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming our sister city exchange students from 𝗜𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗸𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗼 to 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹! 🌍✨

A huge thank you to everyone who made this visit possible! We look forward to more collaborations and shared experiences in the future.

最後の週末はホストファミリーと1日過ごしました。
フレズノに行ったり、サンタクルーズに行ったり、ショッピングを楽しんだり、家族と楽しい時間を過ごしたり、たくさんの経験をしています。
限られた時間ですが、残り1日を思う存分楽しみます😊

The students spent their final weekend enjoying a full day with their host families.

Some went to Fresno, others visited Santa Cruz, while some enjoyed shopping and simply spending quality time with their host families. They are making so many wonderful memories and experiencing so many new things.

Although our time here is limited, we will make the most of our last day and enjoy every moment! 😊

派遣生たちが楽しみにしていた高校訪問の日です。
午前中は、市内で1番新しい学校、ランチョ・サン・ホアン・ハイスクールへ。
在校生による校内案内をしてもらい、自分たちの通っている学校との施設の違い、学生の校内の過ごし方の違いに驚きを隠せず発見ばかりでした。
校内のあとは、神村先生の日本語授業に参加。日本語と英語でコミュニケーションを取りながら日本の紹介、自分たちの学校の事を話しました。

午後は市内で1番歴史のあるサリナスハイスクールへ。日本語の科目を取っている在学生の案内で、校内施設を見学しました。
ジムやフットボールフィールドも見学し、派遣生たちは施設の大きさ、設備に興味を抱いていました。
放課後は、日本語科目専攻の学生たちと近くの公園へ。アメリカ式だるまさんが転んだや、ダック&グースなどを通し交流を深めました。

夕刻はホストファミリーも招いてのファウェルパーティーでした。
バーベキューをいただき、ヤードで遊んだり会話を楽しんだり、それぞれ楽しい時間を過ごしました。

いよいよ最後の週末。
ホストファミリーとの時間を楽しく過ごします。

August 14 – Friday

Today was the high school visit that the student ambassadors had been looking forward to.

In the morning, we visited Rancho San Juan High School, the newest high school in the city. Current students gave us a tour of the campus, and the student ambassadors were amazed by the differences in the facilities and how students spend their time at school compared with their own schools. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to discover many new things.

After the campus tour, we joined a Japanese language class taught by Ms. Kamimura. The ambassadors introduced Japan and talked about their own schools while communicating with the American students in both Japanese and English.

In the afternoon, we visited Salinas High School, the oldest high school in the city. Students who are taking Japanese classes showed us around the campus. We visited the gym and football field, and the student ambassadors were impressed by the size and facilities of the school.

After school, we went to a nearby park with students who study Japanese. We deepened our friendships through games such as the American version of Daruma-san ga Koronda (Red Light, Green Light) and Duck, Duck, Goose.

In the evening, we had a farewell party with our host families. We enjoyed a delicious barbecue, played together in the yard, and spent a wonderful time talking and laughing together.

Our final weekend is finally here.
We will enjoy this special time with our host families and make many more wonderful memories together.

今日はモントレーを視察しました。
世界的にも有名で年間200万人が訪れるモントレーベイ水族館。環境保護を目的とした展示が主であると同時に、ラッコの保護・リハビリ・研究が盛んであり、世界で唯一ラッコの代理母プログラムを有し、また唯一代理母が育てた保護ラッコを海に帰すことを許可されている施設です。
間近で見るラッコやまるで海の中にいるような気持ちになる大水槽、直接海洋生物に触れるコーナーなど、見るもの全てに興味が湧くものばかりでした。

その後キャネリーロウを散策し、移民の歴史から始まったこの土地の事をを知りました。
缶詰工場で栄えた裏にある移民の生活の一部も垣間見れ、日本とアメリカのつながりを改めて学びました。

そして、みんなで巡る最後のショッピングへ。デルモンテショッピングモールへ行きました。日本とは違う品揃え、店員さんの対応、支払いなど、みなと相談し合いながら楽しんでいました。

残すところサリナス滞在もあと3日。
ホストファミリーとの限られた時間を楽しみます。

August 13 (Thursday) – Monterey Visit

Today, we visited Monterey.

First, we visited the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, which attracts approximately two million visitors each year. Many of its exhibits focus on environmental conservation, and the aquarium is also well known for its sea otter rescue, rehabilitation, and research programs. It is the only facility in the world with a surrogate mother program for sea otters and the only facility authorized to return rescued sea otters raised by surrogate mothers to the wild.

Seeing the sea otters up close, the enormous tanks that made us feel as if we were actually underwater, and the exhibits where we could touch marine life directly—all of these experiences sparked the students’ curiosity and interest.

Afterward, we explored Cannery Row and learned about the history of the area, which began with the lives of immigrants. We were also able to catch a glimpse of the lives of immigrants behind the prosperity brought by the canning industry, giving us another opportunity to learn about the deep connection between Japan and the United States.

Then came our final shopping trip together. We visited Del Monte Shopping Center, where everyone enjoyed exploring the different selection of products, customer service, and payment methods compared with Japan, while discussing and helping each other along the way.

We only have three days left in Salinas.

We will make the most of our limited time together with our wonderful host families.
