Preventing Accidents at Sea (A Request from the Tsuruga Coast Guard Office)

Be sure to bring your smartphone so you can contact someone at any time.
Do not go alone; go with friends.
Do not enter areas marked “No Entry” or “Restricted Access.”

If an accident happens at sea, please call 118 (Japan Coast Guard).

🚲 [Gifu Prefectural Police Headquarters] Regarding the traffic violation notification system ("blue ticket") for bicycles 🚲

From April 1, 2026, the "traffic violation notification system" will also apply to bicycles. As a result, failure to follow bicycle traffic rules may be treated as a traffic violation and could be subject to fines.

2025's Class of the Gifu Online Japanese School "Conversation Course" is now open for applications!
This Japanese class is organized by Gifu Prefecture.
It is held online to provide Japanese learning opportunities for foreign residents living in areas of the prefecture without local Japanese classes, as well as for those who, for various reasons, find it difficult to attend in-person classes.
We are pleased to announce the opening of the "Conversation Course", where participants can enjoy learning Japanese through conversation with volunteer Japanese partners.

[Notice from Gifu Prefectural Police Headquarters] (Updated Flyer)

Changes to Procedures for Foreigners' Driver's Licenses (Effective from October 1, 2025)

When foreign residents renew their Japanese driver's license or update their address, they will need to present their driver's license along with one of the following documents:

Residence Card (在留カード)

Special Permanent Resident Certificate (特別永住者証明書)

A copy of the Resident Record (住民票の写し) showing the period of stay, etc.

[Gifu Prefectural Board of Education] Night Junior High School Trial Lessons (Hida & Tōnō Venues) - Now Accepting Participants

The Gifu Prefectural Board of Education is recruiting participants for a 'Night Junior High School' trial session.

A 'Night Junior High School' is a place where people, including foreign residents, who for various reasons were unable to complete compulsory education in their home country, can return to study.

To help more prefectural residents learn about Night Junior High Schools, we are holding trial classes.
This time, the sessions will be held in Hida (Takayama City) and Tōnō (Tajimi City). Participation is free of charge.
