Beginner Class (Step One) – Now Accepting Applications!

The Gifu Prefecture is offering a free online Japanese language class for beginners.

In the Beginner Class (Step One), you will learn basic Japanese through everyday topics such as hobbies and shopping by reading, listening, and speaking.

Talk about yourself using simple Japanese.
Understand other people when they speak in simple Japanese.
Learn to read and write Hiragana and Katakana.

Maintenance of the Multilingual Automatic Disaster Information Distribution System ⚠️
Our centre operates a multilingual automatic disaster information distribution system on Facebook that automatically translates and posts evacuation information during disasters, river water level information, and landslide disaster information in real time for our followers.
Due to upcoming improvements to disaster weather information issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency, part of the system requires maintenance work.
Therefore, the multilingual automatic disaster information distribution system will be partially suspended as follows:
Suspension period:
Scheduled from Friday, May 29, 2026 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
We will announce the restarting of service through this account.
Suspension details:
Only landslide disaster information will not be distributed.
All other information will continue to be distributed as normal.
