A New Beginning at The Bailey House
2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Shine On! Kids.
As we celebrate this important milestone and reflect on the many years of support from so many people, we are excited to share another major step forward: our new training facility, The Bailey House, is now complete.
The facility is named after Bailey, who began his work 16 years ago as Japan’s first Hospital Facility Dog. His name will now live on in this special place where future Hospital Facility Dogs will be raised and trained.
In September, a Shinto priest was invited to The Bailey House to perform a purification ceremony, praying for the safety of activities at the facility and the healthy growth of the candidate dogs. The candidate dogs also took part in the ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter at The Bailey House.
Daily life at The Bailey House has now begun. Even on rainy days, the spacious indoor area gives the candidate dogs plenty of room to run and play, bringing the joy of this new facility to life.
The journey to this point was not always easy. From finding and purchasing the property to renovating it and completing the facility, there were many challenges along the way.
The Bailey House would not have become a reality without the continued support of everyone who has believed in and supported Shine On! Kids over the years. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped us reach this important milestone.
The completion of The Bailey House is not the end. It is a new beginning.
Building on the journey that began with Bailey, we hope to connect his legacy to the future and bring more Hospital Facility Dogs to children who need them.
