前々からお伝えしているように日本ＡＳＬ協会は新型コロナウィルス蔓延の影響を受け、運営存続の危機に陥りました。私ども理事たちもなんとか立て直せないか何度も話し合いを重ねましたが、誠に残念ながら存続は難しいと断念するに至りました。余力があるうちに解散という決断をし、今年３月３１日をもって解散いたします。
日本ＡＳＬ協会は１９８８年に設立され、４０年近くの歴史があります。アメリカ手話言語（ＡＳＬ）に出会った先駆者たちが、ＡＳＬを日本で学ぶ場を設けてくださったことは当時にとっては大きな一歩だったに違いありません。それから時を経て、多くの方がASL、国際手話等外国手話を学ぶ機会が増えています。当協会で提供できなくなることについては誠に申し訳なく思っております。
今やスマホで情報収集できる時代になりました。翻訳ツールなども駆使しながら海外のオンライン講座なども容易にできるかもしれません。時代の流れに合わせながら私たちも意識を変えていかねばと思います。
改めて皆さまのご支援に感謝いたします。
To all who supports JASS,
Several years ago, the Japanese ASL Signers Society faced significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemics, making it difficult to continue our activities such as ASL classes.
We the board members, held several discussions on how to continue our association.
Unfortunately, we have decided to dissolve. The dissolution date will be scheduled for March 31 st , 2026.
JASS was established in 1988 and has a history spanning nearly 40 years. The pioneers
who learned American Sign Language in the United States took a significant step that they
made a place to learn ASL in Japan. Since then, many people got opportunities to learn
ASL, IS, and foreign cultures. We are truly sorry that our association can no longer provide
such opportunities.
We need to move in ways suited to the present era. I hope you all can get enable
information and take the next step forward. Thanks for your support to JASS.
