シンガポール国立大学の学生とチームを組み、ボッチャやスポーツ鬼ごっこに挑みましょう！
ボッチャは日本福祉大学の先生によるレクチャーがあります！
スポーツ鬼ごっこは音吉ブレイブにより実施されています！

「モリビトの会」の竹ものづくりワークショップ、竹モルックも注目ポイントの一つです！参加しながら、竹林の整備活動をはじめ、会の活動について学べます！
※ものづくりワークショップは有料(500円)ですので、当日担当者に声をかけてください。

Are you interested in international exchange or sports?
Form teams with students from the National University of Singapore and try out Boccia and Sports Onigokko!
Boccia will be taught by professors from Nihon Fukushi University, and Sports Onigokko will be organised by Otokochi Brave!

Look forward to bamboo item-making workshops, as well as bamboo Mölkky organised by the Moribito no Kai
There will also be a space to learn more about what they do to maintain bamboo forests in Mihama.
*The bamboo item-making workshops will incur a fee of 500yen. Please check with the person in charge on that day if you’d like to participate.

I had the privilege of attending the SJ60 Reception for Singaporeans in Tokyo yesterday. We got to hear a speech from Prime Minister Wong, who had flown in to Japan just that day for an official visit. It was nice to hear the Prime Minister emphasise how Singaporeans in Japan are also ambassadors on the ground representing Singapore! I’m grateful we got to take a picture together too.
It was also great to reunite with other JETs and JET alumni, and make new connections with other Singaporeans in Japan over good food! Hope to see everyone in Mihama soon!

昨日、東京で行われた駐日シンガポール大使館主催の在日シンガポール人SJ60レセプションに参加させていただきました。公式訪問のために日本に到着したばかりのローレンス・ウォン首相のスピーチを拝聴することができました。日本で在住しているシンガポール人は草の根レベルでシンガポールを代表しているとおっしゃっていただけたことを嬉しく思いました。一緒に写真を撮っていただいたことも光栄に思います。
また、久しぶりにJETプログラムの現役や元参加者と再会することや、おいしい料理をいただきながら、日本在住シンガポール人と新しいご縁を結ぶことができるいい機会でした。いつでも美浜町に遊びにきてください！

Emperor’s Birthday Reception, Ritz-Carlton Singapore, 13 Feb 2026

Did you know that every year, Japanese Embassies all over the world have a reception to celebrate the Emperor’s birthday? In addition to the ceremony, Japanese businesses and municipalities will have a chance to set up booths to share and promote their products and specialities to the guests.
Mihama was given the opportunity to join Central Japan International Airport (Centrair)‘s booth to promote the Chubu region to the guests of the reception held at the Ritz-Carlton Singapore this year.
Centrair prepared a tote bag of pamphlets and novelties, and from Mihama, we included a packet of Ebisenbei, pamphlets, and an information card on Otokichi. With the help of the Omotenashi Bushotai samurai and ninja, we promoted the Chubu region together. It was truly an honour to have a little space carved out for Mihama, and to be there to introduce Mihama to interested guests too. A big thank you to Centrair for bringing me along, and thank you to everyone who visited our booth. I hope to see everyone around in Mihama someday!

毎年、世界各国の日本大使館により、天皇誕生日レセプションが開催されることをご存じでしょうか。式典とともに、日本の企業や自治体がブースを出し、ゲストに製品や特産品を宣伝する機会があります。
今年は、シンガポールのリッツカールトンホテルにて行われた天皇誕生日レセプションで中部国際空港が中部地方をPRするためにブースを出し、美浜町がそのブースにお邪魔しました。
チラシやノベルティの入ったトートバッグが準備され、その中に美浜町からえびせんべい、チラシや音吉に関する情報カードを入れました。おもてなし武将隊と一緒に来客に宣伝しました。ブースの中に美浜のためのスペースを設けられたことにとても感謝をしています。また、皆さんに美浜町を紹介できたことを光栄に思っています。
一緒に連れていただいたセントレアさんに感謝を申し上げます。
ブースで出会った皆さん、ありがとうございます！いつでも美浜町に遊びに来てください！

🗣️Last month, I was invited to give a talk at the Toyota International Association (TIA) in English about Singapore. It was my first time speaking to a public audience so I was nervous, but the members of TIA were very friendly and we interacted both before and after the talk. It was a great experience to be able to share about Singapore and spread the word about Singapore and Mihama’s connections! Thank you for the valuable opportunity, and I hope we can work together again soon!

🗣️先月、豊田市国際交流協会にて、シンガポールについて英語で講演をしました。はじめての公開講演でしたので緊張しましたが、豊田市国際交流協会のメンバーの皆様はとても優しく、講演前後にもいっぱい話しました。シンガポールについて講演し、美浜町とシンガポールの繋がりについて宣伝できるとても良い経験でした。貴重な機会をいただきありがとうございました！またご一緒にお仕事をさせていただける日を心より楽しみにしております。

A belated Happy New Year to everyone! In Japan, many people take the last week of the year off and visit their families for the New Years’. I went home to Singapore over that period too, and was invited to check out Bedok Green Primary School’s campus! Thank you so much for this valuable opportunity 🥰 Sharing the pictures with everyone! [Mihama Yuki Festival] Come down to Ueno Sports Village Mihama this Sunday, 25 Jan, to enjoy some snow ⛄️ there’ll be a snow slope and some space to play with the snow too! And free loan of sledges to slide down the slope with ❄️
You can also enjoy performances and delicious meals from the kitchen cars.

Teachers from Bedok Green Primary School visited Mihama in November in preparation for the upcoming exchange in 2026. Over a span of three days, discussions were held with elementary schools about the school exchanges, and we also facilitated the recce of spots such as Joyful Farm and Nagomi Sobauchi Dojo. We’re so grateful that the partnership is continuing and we look forward to our exchange next year!

来年の交流に向けて、今年11月にべドック・グリーン小学校の先生たちが美浜町を訪問しました。3日間の滞在期間中に交流について小学校との打ち合わせやジョイフルファーム鵜の池、和そば打ち道場など施設の視察をしました。来年もべドック・グリーン小学校との交流を続けることに感謝しています。来年の交流を楽しみにしています！

From the 30th of October to the 1st of November, students and teachers from Ngee Ann Secondary School in Singapore visited Mihama! On the first two days, students visited both the junior high schools in Mihama, with many students reuniting with their buddies from Mihama’s trip to Singapore in August. On the morning of the last day, the group played Sports Onigokko, a game similar to Catch The Flag, with the Otokichi Brave team and many of their buddies. In the afternoon, they met the Nihon Fukushi University Affiliated High School’s Global English Course students and explored the University’s festival. It was a short period of time but it was touching to see how quickly the students made friends with each other despite the language barrier. A big thank you to everyone who participated and extended your help during the exchange this year!

10月30日から11月1日まで、シンガポールのニーアン中学校の学生と引率者たちが美浜町を訪れました！30日・31日には美浜町にある中学校を訪問し、多くの学生は8月に実施された美浜町のシンガポール派遣時のバディと再会しました。最終日の朝には、音吉ブレイブおよび多くのバディたちとスポーツ鬼ごっこを楽しみました。午後には、日本福祉大学付属高校グローバル英語コースの学生たちと交流し、大学祭を一緒に楽しみました。短い時間や言語の壁にも関わらず、すぐ仲良くなっていく学生たちに感動しました。今年の交流にご参加・ご協力いただいた皆さんに感謝を申し上げます。

I participated in the Singapore Embassy in Tokyo’s open house on the 8th of November! This was my first time in the Embassy and the explanation and tour of the premises by Embassy staff provided a great opportunity to learn about the important work they do. We also got to play nostalgic childhood games (which I was terrible at) and get to know other Singaporeans in Japan! It was a truly informative and fun experience, a big thank you to the Embassy for organising this!

11月8日に行われたシンガポール大使館のオープンハウスに参加しました！私にとっても初めての訪問でした。大使館の方々の説明や館内の案内によって、大使館がどんなに大事な仕事をしているのかを実感しました。シンガポールの懐かしいゲームも遊ぶことができ(私は下手でしたが…) 、日本にいる他のシンガポール人とも交流できる機会でした！
とても楽しい、貴重な経験でした。

Are you a fan of nature trails? Want to see some autumn foliage? Come on over to Mihama on the 7th of December and join us for Mihama Wonder Days (Orange Day)! We’ll be walking on the Orange Line trail for about 5km and enjoying the beautiful autumn foliage along the way. You’ll also get a chance to make your own insect-repelling dragonfly and enjoy other activities. Registration costs 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children (from elementary to middle school age) including a delicious lunch! Sign up using the QR code in the first image!
I’ve also had a chance to visit the Orange Line recently while the leaves were still green and I’m excited to see the lovely shades of orange and red for the first time!

🌏 World Collaboration Festival 2025 🌏

Our booth on 25 October went smoothly and successfully!
We were delighted to have many visitors of all age groups, and even support from Mihama Town residents past and present ✨
Many visitors were curious - why does Mihama Town have a booth at the festival? Why Singapore? Who is Otokichi?
We were happy to introduce the relationship between Mihama and Singapore through the stamp rally and our quiz.
It was heartwarming to see friends and families working together to answer the questions, and we hope that everyone went home having learnt a little more about Mihama and Singapore.

A big thank you to everyone who visited the booth and to everyone who supported us again this year!

おかげさまで、10月25日の出展が無事終わりました！多くの方々に興味を持ってもらい、美浜町民からのサポートもありがたいことにいただきました✨
「なぜワールド・コラボ・フェスタに美浜町？」「なぜシンガポール？」「音吉さんって誰？」と気になった方も多くいらっしゃいましたが、スタンプラリーやクイズを通して美浜町とシンガポールの関係性について紹介できたことが嬉しかったです。友達や家族で協力しながらクイズに答えるのを見て、心が温まりました。少しでも美浜町やシンガポールに興味を持っていただけていれば嬉しいです。
