Damian Nam is one of our head referees and among the most experienced in Aotearoa. A black belt in both Taekwondo and Jiu Jitsu, he brings deep knowledge to the officials team.

Damian runs one of the biggest gyms on the North Shore — and is known for building strong, disciplined athletes on and off the mats. Outside the academy, Damian is a marathon runner, an advocate for mental toughness, and a qualified physiotherapist.

We are proud to have Damian as one of our head referees in Auckland, and grateful for his contribution to the oversight committee of referees and officials for Wellington as well.

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dear friend Dean — a true pioneer, an innovator, and a relentless supporter of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community.

Dean dedicated himself wholeheartedly to our sport, always pushing the boundaries to create the most advanced and meaningful technologies for BJJ. His vision and passion left a lasting mark on the industry, and his legacy will continue to shape our journey on and off the mats.
