横浜が1859年の開港を機に日本有数の港となってまもなく、1870年には外国人居留者たちが明治政府から土地を借りて公園を作りました。それが今日、名勝地として文化財指定を受けた山手公園です。その場所に、1878年、在日イギリス婦人たちがLadies Lawn Tennis and Croquet Clubを結成しました。これがYITCの母体です。

国際性ーYITCは、今日、国際的なコミュニケーションと国際親善への貢献に意欲的な人たちによって構成されています。

テニスがYITCの"原動力"です。クラブハウスの前面に2面、高台に4面、計6面のクレーコートと練習板があります。

"Community"という言葉が"Club"に置き換わったのは、1982年に公益法人としての位置付けを明確にしたことに由来します。当コミュニティのキーワ

ードは「ボランティア精神」です。YITCの運営を監督指導する理事会や種々の委員会はメンバー自身が運営しています。メンバー自身がバーベキューを作り、クラブハウスの戸締まりをして帰ります。しかし、新入会の方にはドアはいつでも開いています。気軽にお立ち寄り下さい。そして、日本で最初に設立された当テニス・コミュニティのよき伝統である「仲間」となることのすばらしさを確かめてください。


Opened to trade and foreign settlement in 1859, Yokohama soon became Japan's premier port. Residents of its foreign settlement created a park in land leased from Myokoji Temple on the Bluff in 1870. It was here that in 1878 Englishwomen formed the Ladies Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, to which YITC traces its origins. It was designated as the national scenic site in Mar.2004. International Today the Y.I.T.C. embraces a cosmopolitan membership who speak English as a common language. Tennis is the prime mover of the Y.I.T.C.. The Y.I.T.C. has six clay courts - No.1 and 2, before the clubhouse, and No.3 through 6, on higher ground to the north. There is also a practice board next to Court No.3. Community replaced "club" in "Y.I.T.C." in 1982 in line with a reorganization as a nonprofit foundation. Voluntarism is the key word of the community. Members fill positions on the Board of directors and the various committees that oversee Y.I.T.C. Menbers flip the Yakisoba on the barbecue grille. Members park cars during the International Doubles Tournament.. The member last to leave the clubhouse turns off the lights, and locks the door. Nevertheless, the welcome mat is always out and the door is always open for new members. YITCニュースレター「The May Mosaic 2026」ハイライト】

5月のYITCは、イベントが目白押しの1ヶ月となりました ！

5月6日：鈴木貴男プロによるテニスレッスン
鈴木貴男氏の哲学である「MOVE」のロゴが描かれたフェンスアートとともにレッスンが開催されました。サーブの速度を測定するレーダーガンが用意され、中には最高時速130マイルを記録するプレイヤーも登場して大いに盛り上がりました。

5月16日：インターナショナル・ダブルス・トーナメント（IDT）
アジアをはじめ世界中から集まった参加者が、歴史あるクレーコートで熱戦を繰り広げました。 試合後は美しい緑の芝生テラスでBBQが開催され、参加者同士の会話が弾みました。

5月19日：センテナリー・テニスクラブからの訪問者
カナダの「South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club」から、親子のプレーヤーが休暇と出張を兼ねてクラブを訪れました。午前中はコートでテニスを共にプレーし、その後は横浜山手・テニス発祥記念館の見学も行われました。

皆様、こんにちは！ 4月のYITCトピックです。

🎾チャンピオンプレートの更新

クラブハウスの壁に、チャンピオンや長年のメンバーの栄誉を称える新しいプレートが約10枚追加されました 。YITCの豊かな歴史を物語る美しいプレートです 。ご来館の際はぜひ見上げてみてください 。

🎾2026年 観桜会 ＆ MOU調印式

4月4日、恒例の観桜会を開催いたしました 。あいにくの小雨でしたが、会員や地域の方々、さらにミクロネシア連邦（FSM）をお迎えし、桜の下で和やかなひとときを過ごしました 。

また同日、クラブハウス内でFSM駐日大使をお招きし、「国際親善・スポーツ交流プログラム」の覚書（MOU）調印式を行いました 。今後YITCは、ラケットの寄付や指導のサポートを通じて、ミクロネシアの若い世代のテニス振興を支援していきます 。いつか彼らを私たちのコートに迎えられる日が楽しみです 。

🎾国際的なテニスを通じた友情

ニュージーランドのパーネル・ローン・テニスクラブから2名のビジターをお迎えし、早朝テニスをご一緒しました 。昨年10月に同クラブの会長がYITCを訪問されて以来、クラブ間の国際的な繋がりがさらに深まっています 。

Our March Monthly Update is now live on the YITC website! 🎾The highlight of the month was the wonderful three-day visit from the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) Centennial team from March 20–22. Please allow me to provide a quick update regarding this year's IDT. We have already received the maximum 16 entries for the Mixed Doubles, and therefore the applications are closed. Dear Tennis Friends,

We are excited to announce that the 38th International Doubles Tournament (IDT) will be held at YITC on Saturday, May 16, 2026. In case of rain, the tournament will be played the following day (Sunday, May 17).

The Governor's Cup will be awarded to the victorious Men's Doubles Team and the Mayor's Cup will go to the Mixed Doubles winners. Like last year, we are accepting a maximum of 24 entries for the Men's Doubles and 16 entries for the Mixed, so please sign up early to avoid missing out. If you hold a non-Japanese passport and are seeking a partner for the IDT, please contact the YITC office.

Please sign up using the IDT entry form from now until the deadline on Saturday, April 25. The URL is:
