Disi struggles with the absence of any development projects targeting women specifically. Such development projects are of absolute necessity for women in the area, as their living conditions are very difficult, due to the remoteness of Disi from other towns or cities -the closest place to find work is in Aqaba (a distance of 150Km roundtrip)-, this remoteness makes it even more difficult for wome
n to work or find work in Aqaba, for reasons of distance, lack of experience, lack of academic qualifications and the futility of working in Aqaba for wages are lower than the potential expenses (transportation, phone, meals etc.) in addition, other circumstances (such as: family, children, mindsets) surrounding those women prevent them from working outside the Disi basin villages. For this and more, the association is working consistently to create opportunities for women and other community members to learn, share and grow. Some of our projects are:
CeraDisi, a project that aims at providing 10 women from the area with a job opportunity by establishing a Ceramics making workshop
