اختتم مشروع REBUILD دورته التدريبية الأولى بنجاح، بمشاركة 15 متدربًا ومتدربة في دورتين متخصصتين: الترميم باستخدام تقنيات الوصول بالحبال، والمواد المبتكرة في الترميم.
جمعت هذه المرحلة الأولى بين التدريب الميداني العملي والمعرفة التقنية التطبيقية، بما يسهم في تلبية الاحتياجات الأساسية لممارسات صون التراث المعاصرة في الأردن.
وتُظهر نتائج هذه الدورة الأولى مساهمة المشروع في تعزيز القدرات المحلية، وإدخال مناهج مبتكرة، ودعم تطوير كوادر مؤهلة في قطاع التراث.
ومن خلال الاستثمار في التدريب العملي ونقل المعرفة، يسهم مشروع REBUILD في بناء أسس أكثر استدامة واحترافية وارتباطًا بالخبرات المحلية في مجال الترميم وصون التراث.
نتقدم بالشكر لجميع المتدربين والمدربين والشركاء المشاركين في هذه المرحلة، ونتطلع إلى البناء على هذه النتائج خلال المراحل القادمة من المشروع.

The REBUILD project has successfully completed its first training cycle, with 15 trainees participating in two specialized courses: Conservation through Rope Access and Innovative Materials for Conservation.
This first phase combined hands-on field training with applied technical knowledge, directly addressing critical skills needed for contemporary heritage conservation practice in Jordan.
The results of this initial cycle demonstrate the project’s contribution to strengthening local capacity, introducing innovative approaches, and supporting the development of a skilled workforce in the heritage sector.
By investing in practical training and knowledge transfer, REBUILD is helping to build the foundations for more sustainable, professional, and locally rooted conservation practices.
We extend our appreciation to all trainees, trainers, and partners involved in this first phase, and look forward to building on these results in the next stages of the project.

من خلال التدريب العملي والخبرة الميدانية مع سيلا، طوّرت فرح بزادوغ مهاراتها في الترميم، مما أتاح لها فرصة في متحف فيتزويليام.
تعكس هذه الرحلة ما نسعى إليه: بناء مهارات قابلة للنقل والتطوير، وخلق فرص حقيقية، وربط الكفاءات المحلية بالمجال الدولي للتراث.

خمائل الطويسي هي إحدى المتسلقين على الحبال في سيلا، ومن أوائل خمس نساء في الأردن حصلن على شهادة العمل في الترميم على الارتفاعات.
يقوم أساس عملها على استخدام أنظمة الحبال مباشرة على عناصر تراثية، حيث تتطلب الدقة والتنسيق والعمل الجماعي وهي تعمل كجزء من فريق ينفذ أعمال الصيانة في ظروف ميدانية استثنائية.
الصورة المرافقة لهذا المنشور التقطتها نسرين البدول، وهي أيضاً تعمل كفني ترميم معتمد للعمل على الحبال ضمن سيلا. وقد حازت الصورة على جائزة المركز الأول في مسابقة التصوير “SCATTO – Donne sicure in cantiere”، التي تبرز عمل النساء بأمان واحتراف في البيئات التقنية.
تعكس هذه القصة حضوراً متزايداً للنساء في مجالات الترميم المتخصص في الأردن، مدعوماً بالتدريب والممارسة والخبرة الميدانية.

Khamail Twaissi is one of Sela’s climbers and among the first five women in Jordan certified to work as conservators at height.
Her work takes place on ropes, directly on heritage surfaces, where precision and coordination are essential. She works as part of a team carrying out conservation interventions in demanding field conditions.
The photograph accompanying this post was taken by Nisreen Albdoul, also a certified rope access operator with Sela. The image received recognition in the photography competition “SCATTO – Donne sicure in cantiere,” highlighting women working safely and professionally in technical environments.
Together, these two stories reflect a growing presence of women in specialized conservation roles in Jordan, supported by training, practice, and field experience.

We are pleased to highlight our ongoing cooperation with key governmental partners in Jordan, the Petra Development & Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) and the Department of Antiquities of Jordan - دائرة الآثار العامة الأردنية, within the framework of the REBUILD project.

As part of this collaboration, Nazzal Camp has been identified as a new location for our upcoming training courses. This historic site holds a special place in Petra’s modern history as one of the early tourism camps that welcomed visitors to the region, offering a direct connection to the development of Petra as a world heritage destination.

Nazzal Camp also carries fascinating cultural memories. Among the many notable visitors to Petra was Agatha Christie, who travelled to the area with her husband, the archaeologist Max Mallowan. Their journeys across the region and excavation work in the Near East deeply influenced her writing, including Appointment with Death, set in Petra itself.

Within this remarkable historical setting, REBUILD continues its work in strengthening local capacity in heritage conservation, bringing training activities into a context that reflects the depth, legacy, and significance of Petra’s cultural landscape.



يسرّنا تسليط الضوء على تعاوننا المستمر مع شركائنا الحكوميين الرئيسيين في الأردن، سلطة إقليم البترا التنموي السياحي (PDTRA) ودائرة الآثار العامة (DOA)، وذلك في إطار مشروع REBUILD.
في سياق هذا التعاون، تم اختيار بيت النزال كموقع لتنفيذ الدورات التدريبية القادمة. ويُعد هذا الموقع التاريخي جزءاً مهماً من تاريخ البترا الحديث، حيث كان من أوائل المخيمات السياحية التي استقبلت الزوار، مما يعكس ارتباطه المباشر ببدايات تطور البترا كوجهة تراث عالمي.
كما يحمل بيت النزال بُعداً ثقافياً مميزاً، إذ كانت من بين زوّار البترا الكاتبة الشهيرة أغاثا كريستي، التي زارت المنطقة برفقة زوجها عالم الآثار ماكس مالوان. وقد أثّرت رحلاتهما وأعمال التنقيب في الشرق الأدنى بشكل كبير على كتاباتها، بما في ذلك روايتها جريمة في البترا (Appointment with Death) التي تدور أحداثها في البترا.
وفي هذا الإطار التاريخي الاستثنائي، يواصل مشروع REBUILD جهوده في تعزيز القدرات المحلية في مجال حفظ التراث، من خلال تنفيذ أنشطة تدريبية ضمن سياق يعكس عمق وأهمية المشهد الثقافي للبترا.

Within the Re-Build Project, training continues at the restoration center as part of a specialized program that combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications in the field of cultural heritage conservation and preservation.
During this phase, participants were divided into working groups, where one group carries out repointing works, while the other simultaneously works on the reconstruction of a simulated training wall (non-archaeological), within a hands-on training environment supervised by trainers to enhance technical skills and field experience.
Roles are later rotated between the groups, allowing all trainees to experience both tasks and gain comprehensive and well-rounded experience before moving on to actual field practice at the Petra archaeological site.
In a related context, the theoretical training for the climbing section has begun, where a trainer is reviewing basic rope-tying skills with two trainees, after they completed an intensive one-week training in Beit Jala,

Today marks the launch of the practical training phase under the Re-Build Project, held at the Restoration Center, under the supervision of 4 trainers and with the participation of 15 trainees.

The project is a joint cooperation initiative between Sela for Training and Protection of Heritage, the Italian FORMEDIL PERUGIA Center, and the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), with the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

During this phase, participants are engaging in a range of specialized training topics, including condition assessment and analysis of conservation materials, identifying deterioration factors and methods of intervention, documentation and technical drawing using AutoCAD, as well as dismantling techniques, numbering, and cataloging systems to ensure proper field documentation and heritage protection.

This phase represents an important practical step toward strengthening participants’ technical skills and enhancing their ability to contribute effectively to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage.

انطلقت اليوم أعمال التدريب ضمن مشروعRe-Build، حيث بدأ المدربون العمل بشكل مباشر مع المتدربين في مركز الترميم، ضمن برنامج تدريبي متخصص يجمع بين المعرفة النظرية والتطبيقات العملية في مجال حفظ وصون التراث الثقافي، بمشاركة 15 متدربًا ومتدربة وتحت إشراف 4 مدربين متخصصين. ويأتي هذا المشروع ضمن تعاون مشترك بين شركة سيلا للتدريب وحفظ التراث، ومركز FORMEDIL PERUGIA الإيطالي، وسلطة إقليم البترا التنموي السياحي، وبدعم من الوكالة الإيطالية للتعاون الإنمائي (AICS). خلال هذه المرحلة، بدأ المشاركون بالتعمق في مجموعة من المحاور الأساسية والمتقدمة، شملت تقييم الحالة وفهم عناصر المواقع التراثية، وتحليل حالة حفظ المواد وأسباب التدهور، إلى جانب التدريب على أساليب التوثيق والرسم باستخدام الأوتوكاد. كما تناول البرنامج تقنيات التفكيك والترقيم والفهرسة، وآليات تنظيم العمل الميداني بما يضمن الحفاظ على العناصر التراثية وتقليل فقدان المعلومات. يمثل هذا التدريب محطة مهمة في تطوير مهارات المشاركين، وخطوة عملية نحو إعداد كوادر مؤهلة قادرة على المساهمة في حماية التراث الثقافي والحفاظ عليه للأجيال القادمة.
