بداية جديدة ضمن برنامج RE-BUILD. 🤍
نبدأ الدورة الخامسة والسادسة ضمن برنامج RE-BUILD ، مع مجموعة جديدة من الشباب الذين ينضمون إلى رحلة تدريبية تجمع بين المعرفة والتطبيق العملي في مجال الحفاظ على التراث.
يتضمن التدريب التعرّف على تقنيات التقوية والحفاظ باستخدام المواد المعاصرة، بالإضافة إلى تقنيات التقوية والحفاظ باستخدام الحبال المعلّقة، بما يتيح للمتدربين تطوير مهارات عملية مرتبطة بالعمل الميداني في مواقع التراث.
من التدريب إلى الميدان، تبدأ رحلة جديدة من المهارات والخبرات في البترا. ✨

A new beginning within the RE-BUILD Programme. 🤍
We are starting Cycles 5–6 of the RE-BUILD Programme, welcoming a new group of young people to a training journey that combines knowledge with hands-on experience in heritage conservation.
The training introduces participants to conservation and strengthening techniques using contemporary materials, as well as rope-access conservation techniques, helping them develop practical skills relevant to fieldwork at heritage sites.
From training to the field, a new journey of skills and experience begins in Petra. ✨

بين العمل والعمل… هناك دائمًا مساحة للحياة.

في مواقعنا الميدانية، نعيش الكثير من اللحظات التي لا تظهر في الصور الرسمية؛ لحظات من الحديث، والضحك، والمشاركة، وقضاء الوقت معًا بعيدًا عن ضغط العمل وتفاصيله.
وفي هذه التفاصيل البسيطة، يظهر جانب من التراث غير المادي؛ في العادات، والممارسات، والألعاب، والقصص، وطريقة تواصلنا وتشاركنا للحظات اليومية.
فالتراث لا يقتصر على ما نراه من مبانٍ ومواقع، بل يشمل أيضًا المعرفة والممارسات والعلاقات التي تنتقل بين الناس وتبقى حية مع الوقت.
لأن حماية التراث تعني أيضًا الحفاظ على روح المكان والإنسان الذي يعيش فيه.

Between work and work… there is always room for life. 🤍
At our field sites, we share many moments that don’t always appear in official photos — conversations, laughter, shared activities, and simply spending time together away from the pressure and details of work.
In these simple moments, we also see aspects of intangible heritage — reflected in traditions, practices, games, stories, and the ways people connect and share everyday experiences.
Heritage is not limited to the buildings and sites we see; it also includes the knowledge, practices, and relationships that are passed from one generation to another and kept alive over time.
Because protecting heritage also means preserving the spirit of a place and the people who bring it to life.

تشرفت سيلا والرقيم بلقاء صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير الحسن بن طلال، تلبيةً لدعوته الكريمة، لمشاركة أفكارنا وتطلعاتنا بشأن مواصلة جهودنا في حماية التراث الثقافي الأردني وصونه، من خلال إشراك المجتمعات المحلية بصورة هادفة وفاعلة.

وكان من دواعي اعتزازنا أن أتيحت لنا الفرصة لعرض رؤيتنا وتبادل الأفكار حول أهمية وضع المجتمعات في صميم جهود حماية التراث والحفاظ عليه.

ونتقدم بجزيل الشكر والامتنان إلى صاحب السمو الملكي على الوقت الكريم الذي خصّنا به، وعلى الحوار الثري والمثمر الذي جمعنا به.

Sela and Alraqeem were honoured to meet with HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, upon his gracious invitation, to share our ideas and aspirations for continuing our work to protect and preserve Jordan’s cultural heritage through meaningful community engagement.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to present our vision and to exchange thoughts on the importance of placing communities at the heart of heritage protection.

We are deeply grateful to His Royal Highness for the generous time he shared with us, and for the thoughtful conversation.

يسرّنا في سيلا للتدريب وحماية التراث (SELA) أن نشارككم تسليط الضوء على نجاح مشروع REBUILD في النشرة الإخبارية الأخيرة لشبكة MedNC. 🌍
✨ أبرز ما حققناه خلال هذه الدورة:
🎓 تخريج 15 شابًا وشابة من أبناء المجتمع المحلي بعد إتمامهم دورات تدريبية متخصصة في صيانة وحماية التراث، شملت:
• تقنيات الترميم باستخدام الحبال (Rope Access)
• استخدام المواد المبتكرة في أعمال الترميم والحفاظ على التراث في البتراء
🤝 تحقق هذا الإنجاز بالتعاون مع شريكنا FORMEDIL Perugia وسلطة إقليم البتراء التنموي السياحي (PDTRA)، وبدعم كريم من الوكالة الإيطالية للتعاون الإنمائي (AICS).

🏛️ A New Achievement for SELA Featured in the MedNC Newsletter! 🌟
We are delighted at Sela for Training and Protection of Heritage (SELA) to share that the success of our REBUILD Project has been highlighted in the latest newsletter of the MedNC Network. 🌍
✨ Key achievements from this training cycle:
🎓 15 young men and women from the local community graduated after completing specialized training courses in heritage conservation and protection, including:
• Restoration techniques using Rope Access
• The use of innovative materials in restoration and heritage conservation works in Petra
🤝 This achievement was made possible through collaboration with our partner FORMEDIL Perugia and the Petra Development and Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA), with the generous support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
🌍 We are proud to be part of the MedNC Network, which brings together outstanding initiatives and activities aimed at empowering young people and supporting community development across the Mediterranean region.

المعمودية في الكنيسة البيزنطية – البتراء
‏بين حجارة البتراء الوردية، ما زالت بعض التفاصيل المعمارية تحكي لنا عن الحياة الدينية التي عاشها سكان المدينة قبل أكثر من 1500 عام.

‏في الكنيسة البيزنطية في البتراء، نشاهد بقايا حوض المعمودية، وهو أحد العناصر المهمة في العمارة الكنسية، حيث كان يُستخدم لإقامة طقس المعمودية، أحد أبرز الطقوس في المسيحية.

‏ويحيط بالموقع عدد من الأعمدة والقواعد الحجرية والأرضيات المرصوفة، التي تعكس روعة التنظيم المعماري للكنيسة، وتمنحنا لمحة عن طبيعة المساحات المخصصة للعبادة والطقوس في البتراء خلال العصر البيزنطي.

‏هذا المشهد البسيط من الحجارة والأعمدة ليس مجرد بقايا أثرية؛ بل هو جزء من قصة مدينة عاشت فيها حضارات وديانات متعددة، وتركت كل واحدة منها بصمتها في قلب البتراء.

🏛️ The Baptismal Font in the Byzantine Church – Petra
Amid the rose-colored stones of Petra, architectural details continue to tell us about the religious life of the people who lived in the city more than 1,500 years ago.
At the Byzantine Church in Petra, we can still see the remains of a baptismal font, an important element of early Christian church architecture. It was used for the baptismal rite, one of the central rituals of Christianity.
Surrounding the site are columns, stone bases, and paved floors that reflect the church’s remarkable architectural organization and offer a glimpse into the spaces dedicated to worship and religious rituals in Petra during the Byzantine period.
This simple scene of stones and columns is more than just an archaeological remnant; it is part of the story of a city where different civilizations and religions once lived, each leaving its own mark at the heart of Petra.

قد تنتهي فترة المشروع، لكن ما نتركه وراءنا لا ينتهي.
في سيلا، نؤمن أن العمل في مجال الحفاظ على التراث لا يقتصر على حماية المواقع، بل يشمل أيضاً بناء الإنسان، وتطوير المهارات، ونقل المعرفة.
من كل تدريب وتجربة ميدانية، تتشكل مهارات جديدة، وتُبنى خبرات حقيقية، وتكبر قدرة الكوادر على مواصلة العمل من أجل حماية تراثنا.
✨ المشروع قد ينتهي… لكن المعرفة تستمر، والمهارات تبقى، والأثر يكبر.

A project may come to an end, but the impact we leave behind continues.
At Sela, we believe that heritage conservation is not only about protecting sites. It is also about building people, developing skills, and sharing knowledge.
Through every training experience and field activity, new skills are developed, practical experience is gained, and professionals become better equipped to continue protecting our cultural heritage.
✨ The project may end… but knowledge continues, skills remain, and the impact grows.
