Busayra Cultural Heritage Project

Busayra Cultural Heritage Project Sponsored by USAID SCHEP The Busayra Cultural Heritage Project advoactes conservation, education, and community advancement through cultural heritage.

During the Iron Age, Busayra was the capital of Edom; the site includes a substantial fortification system as well as a large palace and temple. The site is located inside the village of Busayra and immediately adjacent to the Busayra Secondary School for Boys. This position has enabled Site Stewards Ali al Soide and Safa al Rfooh to engage in numerous outreach activities with school groups and ot

her local community organizations. In addition to these educational efforts, project directors Ms. Stephanie Brown and Dr. Benjamin Porter have conducted site cleaning and stabilization at several monuments to make the site more accessible to visitors.
