In our third and final session of the Pre-COP31 Virtual Conference, the TH!NK Global Sustainability Network successfully transitioned from policy positioning to actionable advocacy strategies.

Following an inspiring strategic input by Dr. Hanen Keskes (Greenpeace غرينبيس), participants joined combined working groups to design concrete advocacy pathways for COP31—focusing on target outcomes, key political landing zones, messaging tactics, and delegation roles across all thematic priorities.

Key Session Milestones:

- 🗺️ Action Pathways: Mapped out strategic diplomatic asks for Plastic Pollution, Just Transition, Biodiversity, and Food/Water Systems.
- 🎯 Strategic Focus: Identified key targets and influence windows to maximize delegate impact.
- 👥 Delegation Alignment: Defined clear roles and responsibilities to ensure cohesive representation on the ground.

With our Position Paper almost finalized and our advocacy strategy set, TH!NK Global is ready to deliver a unified, high-impact mandate at !

Refining Our Collective Voice for COP31 🌍💡

In Session 2 of our virtual Pre-COP31 Conference, the TH!NK Global thematic Working Groups came together to present key revisions, cross-cutting priorities, and emerging policy messages across all draft chapters.

Through constructive plenary discussion, participants validated our overall strategic direction, addressed pending negotiation points, and consolidated our shared priorities to finalize the joint TH!NK Global Position Paper.

By aligning regional insights into a unified strategy, we are strengthening our collective mandate and ensuring civil society priorities are forcefully represented at !

On August 24th, the TH!NK Global Sustainability Network launched a virtual conference to build on its experiences at UNFCCC SB64 and translate lessons learned from Bonn into stronger, coordinated engagement at UNFCCC COP31.

The conference brings together network members through interactive sessions and thematic working groups to revise and strengthen the joint TH!NK Global Position Paper and develop a practical COP31 Advocacy Toolkit.

Current youth negotiators participate as resource persons, offering direct insights from negotiation processes to ensure the strategic relevance of the network’s priorities.

This initiative also serves as the mandate-setting space and delegate preparation process for the network’s COP31 delegation, fostering cross-regional collaboration, knowledge transfer, and unified representation at COP31.

The HSS was pleased to attend the official ceremony celebrating the inscription of the Aqaba Marine Reserve محمية العقبة البحرية on the World Heritage List, a milestone that reflects ’s commitment to protecting its unique marine heritage. 🇯🇴🌍

As part of our longstanding support for marine conservation and environmental governance in Jordan, HSS contributed to the development of the Marine Reserve By-Laws, the Fishing and Sport Fishing Regulations, and most recently publishing the Integrated Coastal Zone Management ( ) Plan. 📘

We congratulate all partners on this remarkable achievement and look forward to continuing our joint efforts to protect Jordan’s marine environment for future generations. 👏

🌊 Official Launch of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Strategy and Action Plan (2026–2030)

In cooperation with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority , the Hanns Seidel Foundation launched the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Strategy and Action Plan (2026–2030), with the participation of representatives from government institutions, partner organizations, and experts.

The strategy aims to strengthen the sustainable management of ’s coastal areas, protect marine and coastal ecosystems, and promote a balanced approach to economic development and environmental conservation through an integrated and participatory framework.
