خردة Khordda

خردة Khordda an imaginative and hands-on community in search of new functions and meanings for “useless and abandoned” objects and materials.

Khordda is a community of imaginative and hands-on people, who are passionate about finding renewed purposes and meanings in objects, materials and other things around us that others may consider useless and obsolete waste. We make fabric-like material from used grocery plastic bags that would usually end up in landfills if not saved, that constitutes the base material of Khordda bags, cases, lamp

shades, and many other things. In Sahab, an industrial and residential zone within Greater Amman, we train and create jobs within underprivileged communities in the field of upcycling waste. Currently, we employ six women in Sahab. Khordda is the brainchild of Hana Faouri, an artist that strives to combine art, environment and community empowerment.
