These messages highlight issues addressed in the UN Special Rapporteur’s report on violence against older women.

Violence does not end at a certain age. It may take forms that are not always visible, while data gaps and barriers to services can increase isolation and risk-especially for older women with disabilities.

Recognising and listening to these experiences is essential to building more inclusive protection and services that uphold dignity and respond to the diverse needs of older women.

From Jordan to the United Nations General Assembly
When local voices become international evidence.

LWF Jordan submitted its contribution to the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, drawing on the experiences and voices of older women in Jordan.

The study included a sample of 148 people, including 105 women aged 60 and above. Participants were also contacted by phone to ensure the questions were clearly understood and to enable more meaningful participation.

LWF Jordan’s contribution was directly referenced in the Special Rapporteur’s report on violence against older women, submitted to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

For us, this is more than a contribution to a report. It is a step toward ensuring that older women’s experiences reach international decision-making spaces; that their voices and lived realities become evidence that helps shape policies and responses; and that their rights remain central to protection and human rights agendas.

As part of the preparations for implementing SAWA Connect, LWF Jordan conducted specialized training on the Learning Through Play methodology for LWF staff and facilitators from partner organizations. The training strengthened their capacity to deliver safe and inclusive sessions tailored to children aged 3–12, while meaningfully engaging parents and caregivers.

The project applies an integrated approach that combines interactive learning for children with positive parenting and caregiver support, contributing to children’s development and psychosocial well-being, stronger family relationships, inclusion and social cohesion within the community.

From the field to the table-the journey of za’atar begins. 🌿

As part of the efforts of LWF Jordan - Aman Community Centre in Irbid, and in partnership with Youth Without Borders Association - Ramtha, to support sustainable livelihoods and strengthen local production, we highlight the different stages of the za’atar journey.

The journey begins with planting and nurturing thyme and carefully monitoring its growth until it is harvested at the right time to preserve its quality and distinctive flavour. After harvesting, the thyme is carefully dried, processed, and blended into table za’atar-a product with nutritional and economic value that remains an essential part of local culinary heritage.

The video reflects the dedication invested at every stage of production and highlights the role of sustainable agricultural practices in strengthening self-reliance, supporting livelihoods, and building more resilient communities.
