تفخر الجمعية العربية لمرافق المياه (ACWUA) بالاحتفاء بإنجاز مهم في مسيرة تحالف المدن الكبرى للمياه والتغير المناخي (MAWAC) التابع لبرنامج اليونسكو الهيدرولوجي الدولي (UNESCO-IHP)، وذلك من خلال النشر الرسمي لوثائق MAWAC الخاصة بالدورة السابعة والعشرين للمجلس الحكومي الدولي للبرنامج.
كما نفخر بمساهمة المهندس خلدون خشمان، عضو مجموعة عمل MAWAC، وجهود زملائه في مجموعة العمل، والتي ساهمت في تطوير هذه المبادرة العالمية المهمة الهادفة إلى تعزيز مرونة المدن في قطاع المياه وتعزيز التعاون في مواجهة التغير المناخي.

ACWUA proudly celebrates a major milestone in the progress of the Megacities Alliance for Water and Climate Change (MAWAC) under UNESCO-IHP, with the official publication of MAWAC documents for the upcoming 27th Session of the IHP Intergovernmental Council.
We are also proud of the contribution of Eng. Khaldoun Khashman, member of the MAWAC Working Group, whose efforts alongside other colleagues in the working group supported the development of this important global initiative promoting urban water resilience and climate cooperation.

شاركت الجمعية العربية لمرافق المياه (أكوا) في الندوة العلمية التي نظمها مركز دراسات التنمية المستدامة في جامعة اليرموك بعنوان:
“دبلوماسية المياه ودورها في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة”، وذلك من خلال مشاركة عطوفة المهندس خلدون خشمان، الأمين العام للجمعية، ضمن الجلسة الرئيسية للندوة.
وقدّم المهندس الخشمان مداخلة بعنوان “واقع الأمن المائي الأردني”، استعرض خلالها أبرز التحديات التي تواجه قطاع المياه في الأردن، مؤكداً أهمية تعزيز الدبلوماسية المائية والتعاون الإقليمي في دعم الأمن المائي وتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة.
وتأتي هذه المشاركة في إطار التزام ACWUA المستمر بدعم الحوار العلمي وتبادل الخبرات وتعزيز الشراكات الهادفة إلى تطوير الإدارة المستدامة للموارد المائية في المنطقة العربية.

Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) participated in the scientific seminar organized by the Center for Sustainable Development Studies at Yarmouk University entitled:
“Water Diplomacy and its Role in Achieving Sustainable Development,” through the participation of Eng. Khaldoun Khashman, Secretary General of ACWUA, in the seminar’s main session.
Eng. Khashman delivered a presentation titled “The Reality of Water Security in Jordan,” where he highlighted the major challenges facing Jordan’s water sector and emphasized the importance of strengthening water diplomacy and regional cooperation in achieving sustainable water security and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This participation reflects ACWUA’s ongoing commitment to promoting scientific dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnerships aimed at advancing sustainable water resources management across the Arab region.

يسرّ الجمعية العربية لمرافق المياه (أكوا) أن تكون قد ساهمت في إعداد وتطوير أدلة كفاءة استخدام المياه، والتي تم نشرها رسميًا على الموقع الإلكتروني لوزارة المياه والري – الأردن 🌍
وقد تم تطوير هذه الأدلة ضمن إطار مشروع كفاءة وترشيد استهلاك المياه (WEC)، وبالتعاون الوثيق مع وحدة إدارة الطلب على المياه في وزارة المياه والري، دعمًا للجهود الوطنية الرامية إلى تعزيز كفاءة استخدام المياه وترسيخ ممارسات الاستدامة في قطاع المياه 💧
وتُعد هذه الأدلة مرجعًا فنيًا مهمًا يسهم في رفع الوعي، وبناء القدرات، وتعزيز إدارة الطلب على المياه في الأردن.

The Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) is pleased to have contributed to the development of the Water Use Efficiency manuals, which have been officially published on the website of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation – Jordan 🌍
These manuals were developed under the Water Efficiency and Conservation (WEC) Project, in close collaboration with the Water Demand Management Unit at the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, supporting national efforts to improve water use efficiency and promote sustainable water management practices 💧
The manuals serve as a key technical reference for raising awareness, building capacity, and strengthening water demand management in Jordan.

في إطار التعاون بين الجمعية العربية لمرافق المياه (أكوا) وشركة وكيلة للخدمات الهندسية، تم خلال الفترة من 5 إلى 9 أكتوبر 2025 تنفيذ برنامج تدريبي لموظفي شركة مياه العقبة بعنوان "مشرف فاقد شبكات المياه".
يهدف هذا التدريب إلى تعزيز قدرات الكوادر الفنية في مجال إدارة وتقليل فاقد المياه، والمساهمة في رفع كفاءة شبكات المياه في مدينة العقبة.
يأتي هذا التعاون ضمن جهود أكوا المستمرة لدعم شركات المياه العربية في تطوير الأداء وتحسين الخدمات المقدمة للمواطنين. 💧

In cooperation between the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) and Wakila Engineering Services Company, a training program was held during October 5–9, 2025 for Aqaba Water Company staff entitled “Water Network Loss Supervisor.”
The training aimed to enhance the technical capacity of staff in managing and reducing water losses, contributing to improving the efficiency of water networks in Aqaba.
This collaboration reflects ACWUA’s continuous efforts to support Arab water utilities in improving performance and service delivery. 💧

في إطار تعزيز التعاون العربي وتوحيد الجهود لتحسين واقع المياه والصرف الصحي في الجمهورية العربية السورية، عقد أمين عام لجمعية العربية لمرافق المياه (أكوا) المهندس خلدون خشمان اجتماعاً مع المهندس أسامة أبو زيد، معاون وزير الطاقة لشؤون الموارد المائية، وبمشاركة مديري مؤسسات المياه في المحافظات السورية.

ناقش الاجتماع أبرز التحديات التي تواجه قطاع المياه في سوريا نتيجة الجفاف والتغيرات المناخية وتضرر البنية التحتية، واستعرضت أكوا استمارة تقييم المخاطر التي أعدّتها بهدف وضع حلول فنية وتنظيمية ومالية لتحسين أداء القطاع وتعزيز استدامة الخدمات.

تتقدم أكوا بالشكر إلى وزارة الطاقة في الجمهورية العربية السورية على تعاونها المثمر، وتؤكد التزامها بدعم الجهود الوطنية والعربية لتطوير قطاع المياه والصرف الصحي في المنطقة.

As part of ACWUA’s efforts to strengthen Arab cooperation and develop a unified vision for improving the water and wastewater sectors in the Syrian Arab Republic, Secretary General of the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA), Eng. Khaldon Khashman, met with Eng. Osama Abu Zaid, Deputy Minister of Energy for Water Resources Affairs, along with directors of water utilities from various Syrian governorates.

The meeting addressed the key challenges facing Syria’s water sector due to drought, climate change, and damaged infrastructure. ACWUA presented a risk assessment framework designed to identify challenges and propose technical, organizational, and financial solutions to enhance sector performance and sustainability.

ACWUA extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Energy of the Syrian Arab Republic for its fruitful collaboration and reiterates its commitment to supporting national and regional efforts to advance the water and sanitation sector across the Arab region.
