📢 Promoting Inclusion and Empowerment

As part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the 16 Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women, we, alongside our incredible local partners— , , and CBR—organized a series of roundtables in Mafraq, Zarqa, and Amman.

These discussions brought together voices from the public and private sectors, international and local NGOs, and women with and without disabilities. Together, we:
✅ Presented our study on the legal framework and post-COVID-19 employment and self-employment opportunities for women.
✅ Explored strategies to include women with disabilities and youth in the employment ecosystem.
✅ Developed recommendations for public and private institutions to promote quality employment, entrepreneurship, and inclusive work environments—focusing on innovative sectors with positive environmental impacts.

🌱 Special thanks to the Spanish Cooperation for supporting this initiative under the Convenio "Contribute to a life free of violence for women, preventing economic, gender, community, and digital violence."

💪 Let’s continue working together for an inclusive and equitable future!

"Every 10 Minutes, a Woman is Killed: "

The 16 Days of Activism to fight violence against women is a call to all of us—it is a call to denounce and to act. To confront the normalization of violence in all its forms, from the intimate spaces of the home to public institutions. Ending violence against women requires more than words. It demands investment, accountability, and action. It requires putting the focus in the leadership of feminist movements and placing women’s voices at the center of change.

MPDL Jordan reaffirms its commitment to a world where women and girls live free from violence, discrimination, and fear. This year’s theme reminds us of an intolerable truth: violence against women persists in its most extreme form—femicide.
We see the connections between gender-based violence and the structures that limit women’s choices and opportunities. We work to dismantle these barriers, prioritizing the inclusion of women with disabilities, refugees, and youth. In the areas where MPDL and its partners work -  Mafraq, Amman, and Zarqa, - we have seen firsthand how empowering women transforms families, communities, and societies.

On Tuesday we had the pleasure of attending the graduation ceremony of the 60 women from Mafraq who, after five months of hard work have successfully completed their training on employability skills!

This training, part of the project “Strengthening the Active Participation of Women (Jordanians, Refugees, Youth, and Women with Disabilities) with a Comprehensive Rights Approach in Jordan,” has been a collaborative effort led by JOHUD and MPDL, with the support from the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation (AECID).

The objective of the training has been to provide women with the skills to pursue sustainable livelihoods and protect themselves from all forms of violence. The project’s objectives go beyond training, working to build personal and employability skills with a focus on digital and English proficiency. The participants have also received legal and psychosocial support for job seeking at both professional and personal levels, these being key factors to reduce and prevent all sorts of violence.

After hearing the participants’ success stories at the graduation event we can confirm that they have excelled in the objectives, being a testament to resilience, growth, community and women empowerment.

Congratulations from the MPDL Jordan team to all the graduates!

Today, we commemorate the more than 250 aid workers who have tragically lost their lives in Gaza while risking everything to support and deliver aid to civilians in desperate need. The war on Gaza has claimed the lives of over 40,000 civilians, including more than 16,000 children, as reported by Al Jazeera. This devastating loss of life underscores the urgent need for global solidarity and action. This immense tragedy calls on all of us to amplify our voices for peace and work towards a future where every life is valued and protected.
