National Centre for Human Rights Concludes Specialized Training on International Human Rights Mechanisms for Members of the Government Coordination Team
The National Centre for Human Rights, in cooperation with the Government Coordinator for Human Rights Office, concluded a specialized training course on “International Human Rights Mechanisms,” targeting members of the Government Coordination Team. The training was held on 17–18 May 2026 at the Landmark Hotel in Amman, with the participation of representatives from several ministries and official institutions.
The organization of the training comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at strengthening institutional capacities in the field of human rights, enhancing the efficiency of government coordination teams in dealing with international mechanisms, preparing national reports, and following up on the implementation of recommendations issued by relevant United Nations bodies.
The training sessions were inaugurated in the presence of the Commissioner General of the National Centre for Human Rights, Mr. Jamal Al-Shamayleh, the Government Coordinator for Human Rights, Mr. Moath Al-Momani, and Ms. Nesreen Zureikat, Commissioner for Promotion, in addition to a number of Centre officials and participants from various official entities.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner General affirmed that these training courses reflect the Centre’s commitment to its role in promoting and protecting human rights and building effective partnerships with official institutions, contributing to the development of national performance in dealing with human rights issues. He noted that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, and with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, continues its efforts to consolidate human rights principles, strengthen the rule of law, and develop the justice system and national institutions.
For his part, the Government Coordinator for Human Rights, Mr. Moath Al-Momani, stressed the importance of enhancing coordination among various national entities and strengthening the technical readiness of government coordination team members, enabling them to prepare accurate and professional reports that reflect the reality of national efforts and existing challenges. He also emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation with the National Centre in implementing specialized training programs.
Ms. Nesreen Zureikat, Commissioner for Promotion at the National Centre for Human Rights, also emphasized the importance of the existing partnership between the Centre and the Government Coordinator for Human Rights Office, noting that such training courses provide an important platform for exchanging expertise and building capacities. She added that they contribute to enhancing the practical knowledge of government coordination team members, thereby improving institutional efficiency in the field of human rights.
The training program included a series of specialized sessions covering human rights protection mechanisms, treaty-based mechanisms, and the preparation of reports submitted to international treaty bodies, in addition to sessions on the Universal Periodic Review mechanism, guidelines for preparing its reports, the use of human rights indicators, and the special procedures of the Human Rights Council.
The course also included practical exercises and interactive working groups led by lawyer Omar Bani Mustafa, Head of the Awareness and Training Unit, aimed at strengthening the practical skills of participants and providing an opportunity for the exchange of expertise among representatives of government institutions, thereby contributing to the development of joint working mechanisms and enhancing the efficiency of national coordination in the field of human rights.
The training witnessed notable engagement from participants, who emphasized the importance of the topics discussed and their direct relevance to the nature of their work. They also praised the specialized training content, the expertise provided by the trainers, and the space the course provided for dialogue and the exchange of practical insights and experiences.
The course concluded with an evaluation and graduation session, during which participants stressed the importance of continuing such qualitative programs and expanding the scope of training on topics related to international human rights mechanisms, in a manner that enhances government performance and supports national efforts in this field.
