On 8 September, IOM Jordan’s Chief of Mission, Fathima Nusrath Ghazzali, accompanied H.E. Louis-Martin Aumais, Ambassador of Embassy of Canada to Jordan, the Canadian Military Attaché, and other representatives from the Embassy of Canada to Jordan on a field visit to Jordan’s northern border, in coordination with and accompanied by the Civil-Military Coordination Centre of the Border Security Directorate.
The visit provided an opportunity to see first-hand the progress made through the strong partnership between IOM, Canada and the relevant Jordanian authorities. The delegation visited ongoing interventions along the northern border, including the Northern Border Road Revitalization project, which covers the rehabilitation and paving of 17.5 km of the border road, as well as essential culvert works to improve accessibility, mobility and operational readiness.
The delegation also visited previous IOM-supported infrastructure improvements within the Northern Military Zone, including a solar energy system, highlighting how sustainability and resilience are integrated into border management solutions.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of IOM, Canada and Jordan to strengthening effective, resilient and sustainable border management.

في 8 سبتمبر/أيلول، رافقت السيدة فاطمة نصرت غزالي، رئيسة بعثة المنظمة الدولية للهجرة في الأردن، كلاً من سعادة السيد لويس-مارتن أوميه، سفير كندا لدى الأردن، والملحق العسكري الكندي، وممثلين آخرين عن السفارة الكندية، في زيارة ميدانية إلى الحدود الشمالية للأردن، وذلك بالتنسيق وبرفقة مركز التنسيق المدني العسكري – مديرية أمن الحدود.
أتاحت الزيارة فرصة للاطلاع عن كثب على التقدم المحرز بفضل الشراكة القوية بين المنظمة الدولية للهجرة وكندا والجهات الأردنية المعنية. وقد تفقد الوفد التدخلات الجارية على طول الحدود الشمالية، بما في ذلك مشروع إعادة تأهيل طريق الحدود الشمالية، الذي يشمل إعادة تأهيل ورصف 17.5 كيلومتراً من الطريق الحدودي، إلى جانب أعمال أساسية للعبّارات بهدف تحسين سبل الوصول والتنقل والجاهزية التشغيلية.
كما اطلع الوفد، ضمن المنطقة العسكرية الشمالية على تحسينات سابقة في البنية التحتية دعمتها المنظمة الدولية للهجرة، بما في ذلك نظام للطاقة الشمسية، مما يبرز كيفية دمج الاستدامة والمرونة في حلول إدارة الحدود.
وأكدت الزيارة مجدداً الالتزام المشترك للمنظمة الدولية للهجرة وكندا والأردن بتعزيز إدارة فعالة ومرنة ومستدامة للحدود.
