The Science League (SL) started in 2011 when a group of professors, students, and social activists worked together with the conviction that introducing people to the wonders of scientific exploration and the scientific method can empower them to take charge of their lives and build a better future. In a country surrounded by conflict and rising numbers of refugees, empowering that little child who lives in poverty to realize that he can have control over his life and build a better future through the power of knowledge and scientific discovery is the prime aim of the Science League. The Scientific Culture Society was officially registered as a charity in 2012 and became a nonprofit corporation under the name Science League in 2014. It grew to reach over 3000 students in 6 Jordanian cities, doubling its reach annually and earning many awards and fellowships from local and international organizations. Some of our other programs focus on translating and adapting educational materials into Arabic in order to provide new resources to teachers in public schools. Our current project in this field is in cooperation with Project Learning Tree, an award winning environmental education curriculum. We have worked to build a large network of partners and sponsors to help achieve our common goals and develop better programs to elevate our community.
